This book is awesome!! There is so much information available in this book: everything from making soap to making baskets, gardening, building your own home, it is simply amazing. This book is put together very well. It is not a story book, but a topical/reference type book. Meaning you do not need to read the entire book to locate a specific task or piece of information; if you are looking ...

Wow.
About two years ago, I started planning my self-sufficient life. About one year ago, I dove into that life head first. During the planning stages, this book was one of the first I came across. I read a very large portion of it. I'd start out being fascinated by soap-making, then I was curious about how to butcher a pig, then, perhaps after having eaten some rice, I thought, "I wouldn't want ...

Magnificent - a must read.
Climate Change (if it exists) will mean that we will need to eliminate the burning of fossil fuels within the next half century (unless we drown/fry/freeze first). In order to maintain our standard of living, we will need to replace this energy from sustainable sources. This book explores, from basic physics, each of the proposed methods. First a word about the book - its available free, if ...

Solid and Comprehensive
As a lean leader in my organization and a Six Sigma Black Belt, here are my impressions: Oh No, Not Another Book About Lean! Admittedly this was my first thought. But I've long admired Mr. Flinchbaugh's blog and his seemingly honest, straightforward, and technically sound approach to lean; so I figured I'd give it a try. The first section is a basic lean overview, but it does offer an ...

Going Green -- the natural way beginning in your home
The subtitle of the book basically says it all -- improve your health, home and planet-- one room at a time. Going green and living natural seems to be a challenge to all of us, but especially for families. We want our kids and ourselves to be safe and secure. Yet we are unsure which products are just buzz in the marketplace and which products and practices really work. Greer, who bills ...

A wonderful book that brings positive changes to my life
This is a great book and it does bring a lot of positive changes to my home. A simple example, I have switched all my cleaning product to simply vinegar + water + tea tree oil. The result is wonderful - my house is cleaner without chemical smell. I have recommended this book to my friends.

Magical read!
Excellent book -- a magical read. Welles weaves a vivid tale and really captures a specific mood. My only caveat would be that there's one section that's a graphic description of what goes on in commercial pig and other animal farming -- very vivid, but not for the weak of stomach.

Nerds don't have friends
I thought this book would bring me Fans, Friends and even a few roadies, I mean, uh... followers. But I was wrong. It's still true that you have to be really talented, or really beautiful or star on TMZ, to get some of these people to pay attention, but I learned that the hard way... I don't have any of these things going for me. I spent money on a book that looked like a nerd like me would buy. ...

I savored my way through The Seasons on Henry's Farm smelling, tasting and feeling the wonderful intimacies Brockman shares about life on the farm and the challenges and bounties of the land. Thankfully, we have farmers who connect to the land this way. It helps me remember to support and cherish what good, healthy food can do for palates, people, and the environment.

Buy this book for yourself and others who need to know
My copy is already dog-eared, heavily underlined and highlighted because there are so many ACTION ITEMS for business people. I have bought a few copies for business leaders, some of whom already "get it" and others who don't and this book works for either because it is jammed with real-world case studies and data. The idea of demonstrating the business case for action on Climate through data ...

I've been teaching at a community college for 16 years on the topic of energy efficiency, Passive solar, Building Science, green building, healthy home and alternative structures.
