Great Book
This book is way more informative than my professor. Also, since introductory biology doesn't change within a couple of years, I'm really glad I saved money and purchased the seventh edition rather than the eighth.

can I shed some light?
If you're confused about all the different Mankiw Macroeconomics texts floating about out there, lemme set you straight. The one you see on this page: "Macroeconomics" (ISBN 0716762137) is usually used in 2nd or 3rd year macroeconomics courses in college. This is because the exercises at the end of each chapter can be a little equation-intensive, and some of the exercises, such as the proper ...

The best endorsement is that my students loved it.
I used "They Say/I Say" with my composition students in the Spring semester of 2008. Frankly, I had some reservations because the department required a fairly expensive handbook, and this would be an add-on. On the plus side, it was brief enough to go over thoroughly and was not too expensive. I thought it would be useful if students read it. As usual, I made assignments in the book, and we ...

Business Law textbook
I haven't actually used this product in class yet as I'm just getting my books together for the fall semester but I have looked it over and it looks to be very informative of business law with examples and definitions etc. I can't however say it is or will be a pleasure to read I bought it because it's required for my business law class not because I wanted to.

"Must Have"
A definite "must have" book for any student in a counseling program. Even if not "required", this book makes writing reports so much easier because then you know EXACTLY what is required for deifferent diagnosis. I suggest all counseling/psychology students buy this book as early on in their studies as possible.

The parable as a blank canvas
Who Moved My Cheese is a classic that uses a story without the burden of extra detail to force you to put your own life into the situation, and learn from it. It's true that this method isn't for everyone, but the book is popular for a reason: it helps people. Who Moved My Cheese has that special something that most fables lack. It makes you think. The only other fable I've seen accomplish ...

Everyone's Favorite . . .
I honestly have no idea how many times I have read this book. I read it first as an assignment in the eighth grade; most recently, at the age of 41, I read it aloud to three of my children. As with the more recent readings that I recall, I choked up a bit at the end as Scout is experiencing the tragedy and love that surrounds her in the form of her conservatively eccentric father, her ...

Great Book!
Our accountant recommended this book, and I am sure glad he did. I read it in just a few days because it was so interesting. This isn't a typical "get rich" book since I found that the author was definitely trying to teach the reader how to rethink the way he or she views money. Some people might think that he is holding back by not going more into detail about how he made his millions, but ...

Better then the Movie in both Plot and Humor
The Fight Club book version in my Opinion is much better then the Movie. The Characters are both explained more and there actions detailed to a greater degree. The situations that in the film made me laugh in the book because of the better explanations made me laugh harder and longer. If you have never seen the movie definitely read the book first you won't be disappointed.

What Happens To A Dream Deferred?
Produced in 1959, A RAISIN IN THE SUN was the first Broadway play written by a black woman: Lorraine Hansberry (1930-1965), a memorable author who based the central story on an incident that occurred in her own family and which eventually evolved into a landmark Supreme Court ruling in 1940 as Hansberry v. Lee. The play presents us with three generations of the Younger family: the widowed ...

Translations
Researching translations is never an easy task, and in this case, where you'll have to search on Amazon for the title and the translator to find what you want, it's particularly difficult. Here's what I've found by comparing several editions: 1. David Grene translation: Seems to be accurate, yet not unwieldy as such. My pick. Language is used precisely, but not to the point where it's ...

Very original!
This was a very unique book and I really enjoyed it! It did take me a few chapters to get completely absorbed, but after that I was thoroughly interested in the plot and how everything would be resolved. The book is unique in multiple ways, but two stand out for me. The first of which, is that it's probably one of the least predictable books I've read lately. You can guess how the overall ...

Fagles finds the translator's "middle ground" amidst controversy
About the Odyssey itself, I can add no greater praise than that which has already been deservedly heaped onto one of humankind's greatest literary creations. This particular version is graced with an excellent introduction and notes by Bernard Knox, and what I consider to be a very good translation by Robert Fagles. The translation style stirs up controversy, with one highly rated review here ...

I love this book
I have taught Honors and College Prep Geometry with this book (and its previous edition) for sixteen years. This year I tried a different book with one of my classes. I am begging to go back to this book. This book does not have all the 'bells and whistles' of new Geometry textbooks. It doesn't need them. My new textbook has powerpoint presentations, lesson planners, CD ROM testbanks, etc. ...

a home library must
If you do legal work at home, this dictionary is essential to have there. As a law student, I have unlimited access to the Westlaw version of Black's, but there are a great deal of missing entries in that format. I have literally never tried to look up a word in the hardbound version without finding it--not so with the online or pocket versions. It is also an excellent citation source for basic ...
