Easy Read. Useful Tips
This is a great book. I bought this book because I attend many work functions during the year and I find it hard to keep conversations going after the initial introduction. This book made it easier for me. I love that the book is thin and the advice is succinct. I was able to use his techniques at a black tie gala right after reading only half of the book. Even though it's a thin book, the ...

Hattie Big Sky
For upper elementary school children who are studying American history this gives a vivid picture of what Montana was like for homesteaders. The story is captivating yet eye opening. It is easy to forget the attitudes of early settlers toward Germans during WWI. The vocaulary is good, some new words, yet not too many.

This chapter series is fantastic!
My four year old son is in love with this chapter series! A friend suggested it to us since he seemed ready for a more advanced reading material at bedtime. My husband reads him a chapter every night...sometimes more because they don't want to stop. It's become a great tradition for them, and something they both look forward to. We love that there are so many in the collection! Start with number ...

One terrific read!
I don't know what to add about this book. It is based on a true story, the central character is now a Canadian citizen, one fact I can add to anyone who bothers to read my reveiw. He is alive, living in the midwest, and about 5 years younger than myself. If you love pictorial allegories, and appreciate the wizard of Oz, or Alice through the looking glass, then this is your next book to read. I love ...

One bad decision, two lives lost!!!
My name is Jazmin and I am a freshman in high school. I had to pick a book for an English project. A friend of mine read Tears of a Tiger and said it had some good life lessons in it. Even though this book is fictional it is a very good book to read for kids my age because it shows how one bad decision can change lives. In this book the main setting is Hazelwood High School. The main character ...

Quality Literature
I started off by reading this little jewel to my second grade daughter. Before long, I found myself reading this by myself until the very end. I simply could not put it down! The next day I purchased book group copies for my eighth grade classroom. Di Camillo's writing is eloquent and engaging and her characters leap off the page as you find yourself pulled into their struggles. The Tiger ...

time-tested excellence
I remember getting an earlier rendition of this book when I was in grade school, and now while in law school, it still comes in handy. If you are in any class or position where you need to write letters, compositions or just about anything else, you need this book. It will tell you when to use what word, when not to use what word, and is easy to use. Can't beat it!

a good book
My next door neighbor, six years old, recently informed me, brightly, that she is in "the enrichment class." (Just imagine, I might have thought she was a late bloomer or, worse--gasp--average.) When did our children start being so aware of their giftedness, or non-giftedness? Nowadays, it does seem to start very early. This is a bright, cheerful book, beautifully illustrated, with a ...

Putting the Exceptions Where they Belong
As a freelance editor and typesetter, I find myself using CHICAGO nearly every day. At first, I thought it was unnecessarily thick and dense, but as I compared it to other style manuals, I found CHICAGO to be more comprehensive, thorough, and well-organized than others. As with any reference of this type, it will take the reader a little time to become accustomed to the order. A first-time user ...

Hysterical and bittersweet
When you get right down to it, is there anything better than Calvin & Hobbes? In this compilation or any of the others, you get lessons in quantum physics, nostalgic looks at the agony of grade school, observations in human nature, and a bit of the "thing under the bed" style horror. All this and you'll laugh yourself to the point of wetting your pants. The Calvin & Hobbes strips are hysterical. ...
