Reliance of the Traveller: The Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law Umdat Al-Salik32 reviews
Ahmad Ibn Lulu Ibn Al-Naqib, Noah Ha Mim Keller

Amana Corporation, 1997

An essential text for proving Islams intolerance
I use this text to prove the vast majority of muslims are untrustworthy or completely ignorant when they express opinions abut Islam Sunni path has an online version .

Traveller Core Rulebook9 reviews
Gareth Hanrahan

Mongoose Publishing, 2008

The Classic Returns...
Sure, I started out on D&D like everyone else, but the Original Traveller (note capitalization) was my first true love. The day that little black box appeared in my life (supplied by my mom, who is an even bigger SF devotee than me) was a life changing moment. Yeah, my D&D players refused to convert (half their players died in character generation, the other half fell to The Charmax Plague) and ...

Traveller21 reviews
Richard Adams

Penguin Books Ltd, 1990

Such a memorable book
I read this book when I was about 10 or 11 years old (probably around the time it came out). I have always loved books, and have read many over the years. There are very few books from my childhood that I could still give a "book report" on today without re-reading. Traveller is one of them. This was definitely one of my favorites, and I am ordering a copy for my nephew!

Traveller Pocket Edition3 reviews
Gareth Hanrahan

Mongoose Publishing, 2009

A Great Retooling of the Classic
I was very pleasantly surprised by exactly how well done the Mongoose edition of Traveller is. Using the original (Classic) Traveller rules as a starting point, Gareth Hanrahan and crew have expounded upon and actually improved the game. The largest improvement is the addition of a universal system for task resolution. Although it is a simple mechanic, it is also very effective and leads to ...

A Traveller's History of North Africa1 review
Barnaby Rogerson

Interlink Publishing Group, 2000

A Good Way to Whet the Appetite
Over all, I've found the Traveller's History series of books to be a bit hit or miss. All are good at providing a good deal of the history of a nation or region, but some do so in a manner that is too dry or terse to make for enjoyable reading. Not so A Traveller's History of North Africa. Covering the land that makes up modern-day Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Algeria, Barnaby Rogerson does a ...

The Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England: A Handbook for Visitors to the Fourteenth Century4 reviews
Ian Mortimer

Bodley Head, 2008

Best history book I've read in a long time!
I'm not a historian or even a serious student of history -- I read history books for pure enjoyment. I can't think of another that has been as fascinating and informative as "Time Traveller's Guide to Medieval England". Ian Mortimer has written a handbook in the second person voice that really makes you feel a connection to and an understanding of 14th century England. (To be honest, it also made ...

A Traveller's History of Southeast Asia (The Traveller's History Series)4 reviews
J. M. Barwise, Nicholas J. White

Interlink Books, 2002

A quick read and a great way to get up to speed on SE Asia
I thought this was a super book. The authors have done a great job of synthesizing the history of Southeast Asia into a very readable survey of the region. I would refer this book to any traveller or international business executive needing to quickly get up to speed on the history and culture of the region.

Tales of a traveller (1898)
Washington Irving

General Books LLC, 2009

Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos. Excerpt from book: THE ADVENTURE OF MY AUNT My aunt was a lady of large frame, strong mind, and great resolution : she was what might be termed a very manly woman. My uncle was a thin, puny little man, very meek and acquiescent, and no match for my aunt. It was observed that he ...

A Traveller in Rome5 reviews
H. V. Morton

Da Capo Press, 2002

SHAMEFULLY OUT OF PRINT
There is a small, independent bookshop in New York dedicated to the Art of Travel. It is there that I've spent many happy hours looking through new and used books and maps- some treasures and some highly disposable. One of the favorite places I've ever visited is Rome, Italy. And this book by H. V. Morton which is shamefully out of print, is positively the finest I've read on this forever ...

Travellers' Wildlife Guides Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands4 reviews
David L. Pearson, Les Beletsky, ...

Interlink Books, 2004

Go go Galapagos!
I have just returned from those Enchanted Isles and found Beletsky's guide omnipresent, dog-eared and tightly clutched in the sea-salted hands of many a visitor. I am surprised that the Sea Lions and Blue Footed Boobies did not have their own copies! This guide is a truly indispensible accessory for those fortunate enough to have visited those Islands of wonder and enchantment. It is also a ...

Travellers' Wildlife Guides Peru8 reviews
David L. Pearson, Les Beletsky

Interlink Books, 2004

A gift to our Peru guide
Our Peruvian guide (who had been in the business for about 20 years) saw this book and salivated so much that we gave it to him at the end of our trip. Very complete, very well organized, pictures were wonderful. Great help in identifying species. Another guide said it was the bible of Peru Wildlife.

A Traveller's History of the Caribbean1 review
James Ferguson

Interlink Books, 2008

Good introduction to complex area
A good read, suitable for beach or pool-side, especially if in the Caribbean. Covers many topics, loops back to important islands more than once. Covers Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti in some detail. Dutch Caribbean also well covered. Smaller islands (Barbados, French Caribbean, etc.) not as well-covered because of smaller populations. Basically focuses most on islands, ...

Supplement 3: Fighting Ships (Traveller)1 review
Bryan Steele, Stuart Machin

Mongoose Publishing, 2009

Don't waste your money
Oh where to start......Ok, the art work is pathetic. I could done better and I am no artist. Most of the book is wasted with deck plans. There are only like 12-15 ships in the book. The descriptions are very short and nearly useless. Save your cash!!!! If I could give this 0 stars I would.

Traveller: Spinward Marches (The Third Imperium)1 review
Martin J Dougherty

Mongoose Publishing, 2008

Mongoose SpinMar
Mongoose's Spinward Marches is a worthy addition to the Canon if the Traveller Universe. No new info for the long-time fans, but a wealth of info none the less. For those new to the universe, this is a wealth of data and essays to start off a campaign. Thanks Mongoose!

The Rosy Crucifixion: Sexus, Plexus, Nexus (The New Traveller's Companion)2 reviews
Henry Miller

Olympiapress.com, 2004

Fonts are a little small
I don't even know if all three books were combined together before. The text quality from this publisher seems to be in decent shape, but Miller's second trilogy was over a million words, and things are a bit... scrunched. Might be a good deal for a college student, but my eyes aren't quite what they used to be. The ebook helps a lot, 'cause you can enlarge the text on screen. Otherwise, ...
