Scary...very scary!
I heard about this author on NPR and ordered a couple of her books. If you like a good scare and a mystery you would enjoy this. I must add that this one is not for the faint of heart. It is terrifying.

I love this book
I'm an M4, and I really like this book. It contains information about a lot of diseases encountered in general medicine, but it is not too in-depth. I used it a lot to study for USMLE Step 2CK (in addition to Crush Step 2). I used it as a reference book, reading about topics which I poorly understand. I like the wording. I like the photos in the middle. It is also a great value -- I don't think I ...

Excellent book
This book is wonderfully written, not dry as some texts are. It is interesting reading with helpful examples throughout. I would recommend this book for any psychologist, psychiatrist, therapist, or social worker who is either learning about the profession or reviewing what they have learned in the past. This is an excellent book.

OB GYN intro book
I had wanted to get a book to reintroduce myself to the OB/GYN field which I had not seen since 3rd year of medical school (almost 7 years ago). Currently I treat predominantly male patients as a navy flight surgeon, this has been a good read so far to get into OB mind set as someone not in the specialty.

good for interns
This was my reference of choice when I was an intern at a busy major children's hospital. It's comprehensive, not too heavy to lug around, gives you the important details and gives you references as to where to go next for further reading. It's not always enough information when it comes to specific cases. I usually went to UpToDate, PedsinReview or lit searches at that point. I think this is ...

Great everyday reference
This is a great everyday reference book for the Urgent Care/Family Practice practitioner. I work part-time in an Ambulatory Care Clinic and it's been very useful for the "peripheral brain"-type information you need now and then. This book doesn't go into much detail, but it's good for a quick go-to for most illnesses. Great book for the price.

Excellent Book
I love all the Current series of books. I have used them for years. They give me the information I need to know and leave out all the fine details that might be valuable for the academics but only get in the way when you are practicing out in the trenches (real world).

Great ideas
I recently bought a new house with very large windows. I can't find store bought curtains, so I'm going to have to create my own designs. This book gave me several ideas that are new and unique -- things I'd never thought of. There are pages and pages of color photos to inspire you. Unfortunately, this is not a "how to" book but an idea book. Now, I have to figure out how to sew what I like!

An informative wake-up call for public and authorities...
....although we know they won't listen anyway! More than a book, one might contend this to be an extended piece of science journalism by well-known science writer Simon Singh (of "Fermat's Last Theorem" fame...) and respected medical scholar and researcher Edzard Ernst. In a language clear and accessible, accompanied by plenty of historical and modern examples, the authors purported to show ...

Fantastic tool for evidenced based treatment
Having met the author here in Houston, I have been impressed with her knowledge and contributions to Motivational Interviewing. She is a great speaker, and teacher. This manual is a great tool for utilizing MI in a group setting, complete with step by step group outlines and handouts to provide to patients. If you are looking for a tool to use with evidenced based practice for substance abuse, ...
