Ultimate X-Men hits double digits
Well, this graphic novel is one of the better Ultimate X-Men I have read. This volume of Ultimate X-Men can only make one laugh and cry. A definite buy for any X-Men fan (long with the previous 9!). It's quite amazing how only 4 issues (Ultimate X-Men #50-53) can make one feel like days have passed after reading it.

Kirkman's best UXM since Date Night
Spoilers! The people who complain that Cable is supposed to be the future cyborg son of Cylops and Jean don't get the point here. Cable started out without an origin. Marvel needed a new leader for the New Mutants and decided they wanted a strict military type character to contrast with Xavier. The writers immediately made Cable's personality a generic Wolverine clone along with a million ...

Incredible.
Great Stories here, and for a price that you can't beat. I hadn't read any of the Ultimate stuff from Marvel, except for Daredevil and Elektra, but the X-Men have always been my favorite, and I was intrigued by the way that they were "reborn" here. I would have to say that my favorite highlight would be what the Weapon-X program did to Beast. Peace and Love, Jake

Your wrong! Its great!
First of all let me say this. I think Robert Kirkman has saved the Ultimate X-men!! This story arc is awesome. There is action on every page! And cop-out? The man (Kirkman) left both stories open ended for a possibility for these great historic villains to maybe and hopefully come back in the future. This story follows right after the Cable/ Sentinel sagas (which is another great X-men ...

Fabulous
Mr. Sinister is one of those characters who always seemed kind of silly and over-the-top in the regular Marvel Universe. In "The Tempest," Brian K. Vaughan has revamped the character, making him essentially a nutjob with a gun. While I'm sure that will tick off many of Sinister's longtime fans, I think the revamp works well for the Ultimate Universe. Sure, Vaughan could have given us a retread ...

Brian K. Vaughn just keeps getting better
Some idiot below me made a really asinine comment about this book which couldnt be father from the truth. This book is quite exciting and Brian K Vaughn is an author more people need to pick up on. This book, runaways, ex machina and especially Y:the last man are fantastic graphic novels if you are into thrilling reads

Wow. Just wow.
A quick plot summary, no big spoilers: Scott disbanded the X-Men because he would rather start an actual school, leaving Bishop to make his own mutant super-team. Old characters are brought back into the spotlight like Dazzler, Angel and Pyro. The main story is that the sentinel program has been brought back online, but no one knows who is behind it. The best part about this volume is how ...

Brian K. Vaughan is King
This title just keeps getting better. Brian K. Vaughan's arrival to the creative team is a godsend. He doesn't re-invent the wheel here, he just tells great stories. I especially enjoy his new take on the old X-men rogue's gallery, like the nut-job Mr. Sinister and the Jabba-esque Mojo. The artists for all three story-arcs do a great job. Kubert and Peterson nail it. Immonen is little ...

Now that's more like it!
I wasn't exactly thrilled by Robert Kirkman's initial Ultimate X-Men run, but I had faith enough in the Invincible scribe's abilities as well as the overall strength of the series to stick around for another hardcover installment. I just finished reading Ultimate X-Men volume 8, and all I can say is WOW. This hardcover volume collects the following storylines: Cable - The enigmatic mutant ...

Slowly but surely, the Ultimate X-Men is becoming entertaining again
This collection is by far the best since Brian K. Vaughan took over as the writer for the Ultimate X-Men (since vol. 9: The Tempest collection). Hard Lessons comprises three separate stories, first seen as Ultimate X-Men issues 58-60 and the first Annual of the series. The artistic teams change for all three stories and all of them do a great job. Story 1 (issues 58): Professor Xavier finds ...

First
A lot of character exploration in this collection. A lot of the X-Men being the young people they are have started to couple up. There are also some breaks with Colossus and Nightcrawler having problems after Colossus has come out. The major storyling is the Phoenix. Is Jean Grey the Phoenix? I can't say without spoiling it, but it does not follow the path of the traditional Marvel Universe. ...

Here we have two new Marvel creations meeting and fighting: The Ultimate X-Men and the Ultimates. The art is back up to par in this book. The story still as strong as the previous books. Even this far along they've kept it fresh.

So So
I didn't care much for this collection. It is rather short, collecting just a few issues and the annual. The regular series art was good, but I didn't care for the artwork in the annual. A new character is introduced by the name of the Magacian. I just didn't like the character or the resolution. The Nightcrawler storyline was more entertaining.

Millar's best
Ultimate X-men Hardcover Vol 3 collects Ultimate War 1-4 and Ultimate X-Men 26-33 and is easily the best Ultimate X-Men collection so far. This is the first Ultimate X-Men novel where both stories (Ultimate War and Return of the King) actually tie into one another and as such it's a natural fit for the hardcover. Like The Ultimates it seems like one continuous story and does a much better job ...
