If I Should Die Before I Wake
A Great Holocaust Book.
If I Should Die Before I Wake is a thrilling book about hate, murder, and hope. I really enjoyed this book as I got two different views of the Jewish life. This book takes you into different worlds of very different girls trying to find a place in this world. I didn't really enjoy hearing all of the gruesome details that went on in Auschwitz during the Holocaust, but it just made the book even ...
Robert J. Sawyer
I absolutely LOVED this book! I couldn't put it down, but yet I didn't want to finish it. It includes a lot of cool, nerdy math concepts, game theory concepts and musings on the WWW. Although it is really "heady," the story would be very entertaining to even those who have no great knowledge in these areas. I have now found a new beloved sci-fi author in Robert Sawyer!
Given Up for Dead: America's Heroic Stand at Wake Island
Another Great Book By Sloan, A story that should never be forgotten
This is a great book that brilliantly portrays the battle through the eyes of the Marines, Navy and Civilians who defended Wake Island. Sloan is a great writer, this was his first book based on the Pacific Theater in WWII and it was well done. I Also read his book Brotherhood of Heroes, which is the story of Peleliu through the eyes of the Marines who fought their, which was just as great and ...
I have just finished this sample and am going to buy this book. I am getting the Xbox 360 game , but I didn't expect the book to be that good. Fortunately, for me and other readers, it is. I definitely recommend this book.
In the Wake of the Plague: The Black Death and the World It Made
Norman F. Cantor
Not enough personal accounts.
I'm not an expert on the plauge but it was interesting I wish it had more personal accounts though.
Finnegans Wake (Classic, 20th-Century, Penguin)
Welcome to the Wake
This is an abridged reading (about 1/4 of the orginal) of a very long book that is probably the most notoriously difficult thing to read in literature. This may be the best way to taste the waters. It is often said that you must hear the text in the spoken "oirish" to appreciate the music of the words. Well here you have two Irish actors very experienced in dramatic readings of Joyce. The ...
In Her Wake: A Child Psychiatrist Explores the Mystery of Her Mother's Suicide
An absolutely wonderful read!
I laughed, teared up, and marveled at the author's use of vocabulary and ability to communicate so directly. What a powerful family, and moving story. A beautiful weaving of past events, the author's current life, and salient information regarding suicide. Thanks to her prose, I felt as if I was going through the journey with the author; and certainly enjoyed her explanations, world view, and ...
Fade (Wake Series, Book 2) (Wake Trilogy)
By far my fav in the series!
This was my favorite book in the series. I once again read this book in one sitting. Fade was a lot more adult then the last book in the series. Janie and Cabel's relationship is really solidified in this book. They become more intimate with each other physically and emotionally. In Fade there are disturbing things happening at Fieldridge High, where Janie and Cabel attend school. A previous ...
Gone (Wake Series, Book 3) (Wake Trilogy)
I would have liked more...
This book was a quick read. I started it and finished it in one sitting (few hours). I wish that this book would have been longer. I think that for the last book in the series it was a little short. I am torn on whether or not I liked the ending. Not ever story can have the perfect walking off into the sunset ending and I can appreciate the more practical ending for this book but still I didn't ...
Wake (Wake Series, Book 1)
Very good start to a series!
I really enjoyed this book. It was very fast paced and had a great story line. I am always a sucker for a great love story in a book and this one does not disappoint. Janie and Cabel are a great pair and their characters compliment each other nicely. The general plot of the book is focused on Janie's Dream Catcher ability in which she is uncontrollably drawn into other people's dreams and how it ...
Why I Wake Early: New Poems
Spirituality in nature
When I read Mary Oliver's poems I feel like I'm walking with her in the early morning light. Her reverance for nature and appreciation of God's gifts to humankind speak to me.
Wake Up, Sir!: A Novel
Strange and funny
In my opinion, "Wake Up, Sir!" isn't really laugh-out-loud funny. There are no slapstick Three Stooges stuff going on, or excessive Monty Python surrealism going around. What makes this novel funny are the commentaries and observation that the main character, Alan Blair, makes with the things that surround him. He comments on science fiction, homosexuality, Judaism (he's Jewish himself), sex, eye ...
Jack Wakes Up: A Novel
Three Rivers Press
Fun to read, for the first time in weeks I've been able to read half a novel in one sitting because I was that interested in what was going on. Read it.
Wake Up To Your Life: Discovering the Buddhist Path of Attention
More than Useful -- It's Essential
This overview of key Buddhist concepts is more than useful to anyone interested in Buddhism, or in any meditative discipline -- it's essential. Ken McLeod describes Buddhist concepts in a way that is completely accessible to any literate person. McLeod takes foreign terms like "bodhisattva", which have been bandied about Western dharma centres with imprecision for years, and translates them with ...
A Reader's Guide to Finnegans Wake (Irish Studies)
William York Tindall
Syracuse University Press
One of the Best
Guides to "Finnegans Wake" seem to be a dime a dozen now a days, but rarely are they so insightfull and easy to use. Although perhaps it is not as good as Bishop's or Campbell's Guides, but it is shorter and easier to read, so it is good for the beginer. It also acomplishes this condensation without significantly marginalizing any of the great themes of Joyce criticism. Thus, perhaps this ...

A Skeleton Key to Finnegans Wake: Unlocking James Joyce's Masterwork
Henry Morton Robinson

If you are looking for insight
The book is by far one of the best on Finnegans Wake. If you are or are not familiar with the story and James Joyce, this book with get you there. Insightful, keep your copy of Finnegans Wake beside you while you read Joseph Campbell's work and enjoy the ride.
Wake Up, World!: A Day in the Life of Children Around the World
Henry Holt and Co. (BYR)
Wake Up, World!
This is a wonderful, optimistic book to introduce the world andseveral of its diverse cultures to children in terms that they canunderstand: the lives of children like them! It introduces them to other children in 8 countries and takes readers through a day in the life of these children. The concept that children might have no toys, or that a girl may have only one shirt and one skirt, was ...

Wake Up Now
An Important Contribution
This is an absolutely vital book. There are many, many books on awakening, but there are very few written on the post-awakening experience. Stephan's book actually covers the entire process: discovery, maturation, awakening and embodiment. And he knows of what he speaks; his resume is unimpeachable: A dozen years of Zen training, ten of them as a monk; schooling in Western psychology and a ...
