One of the FEW great wrestling books from 2009
This is a great read ... Howard takes you behind the scenes into the under-belly of pro wrestling ... The stories are endless and the entertainment and head scratching (how Howard survived this) never ends ... 5 STAR book all the way that I ready in two consecutive nights in my home theatre (so instead of watching TV, I am enjoying this great book) ... Whatever the price is ... it's worth it ...

The Best There Is...................
This is by far one of the best pro wrestling books written, it combines his personal story of tragedy, triumph and trials but also provides a good history from the Stampede days up to when Vince took over the world. A long read, more than 500 pages but it is very interesting and entertaining.

Highly enjoyable
I am a Western Martial Artist studying the art of Fiore. Our community is relatively young, and we cross train and look for good martial arts to observe and learn from. This is a fantastic book which made me think about my own art in a different way. I highly enjoyed the training with apparatus examples, and although the individual pictured is not some early 20s killer with 200 pounds of chiseled ...

A "Must Have" Wrestling Book for All Levels of Skill
The Wrestling Drill Book... by Dr. Bill Welker, is an excellent teaching tool for wrestling coaches and wrestlers of all levels. The step-by-step technical lessons and especially the "move" illustrations are very well done. Also integral to the sport of wrestling is weight training and conditioning, and both are well represented in this book! Dr. Welker's background is second to none. As a ...

Best Wrestling Book today
I love this book so much, I encourage my entire team to purchase this book. I started to develop as a wrestler by looking in a book memorizing a few moves and then trying them in practice the following day during live wrestling. This book is fantastic. I use the moves when I wrestle live. I was a Connecticut large school state champion, and wrestled in the top 20 divison 1 and this book is ...

A Young Adult Novel That Isn't
Rich Wallace's WRESTLING STURBRIDGE is the best young adult novel you are likely to read...and a darn good novel period (regardless of age demarcations). I think I've given away at least 10 copies of this book to nieces and nephews over the years and every one of them loved it. Along with STONEWALL'S GOLD, WRESTLING STURBRIDGE proves that the YA genre is no longer the domain of hacks and ...

In a world where lies and corruption rule the day this book gives us hope that hard work and dedication
In a world where corruption on the national political scene seems to be not only common but accepted as justified and not that big a deal, it's refreshing to see that some out there are still bound by a higher set of standards. In fact, if one were to look at the two men highlighted in this book and contrast them to the most recent 2008 Presidential hopefuls they would seem more capable of ...

Finally, my son won his first match in 18 seconds!
This year is my son's first year wrestling (9th grade). Before reading this book he had 3 matches. He lost all three. He is a strong kid and physically fit (good endurance). However, after watching him several times I determined that perhaps he needed to learn the skill/theory of wrestling. I purchased this book. He read it. Needless, to say, he employed the "two leg" take down in this ...

A Great And Enjoyable Read
I know James Guttman from back when he first started writing JG's Raw Insanity Reports when he wrote at Pro Wrestling Torch. His wrestling reviews were both hilarious and spot on. When he informed everyone that he was writing a book, we all waited with baited breathe until it came out. What a wonderful read. James takes you inside the crazy world of WWE and shows you some of the craziness that ...

Some people say that Randy's record is not that good, true, they don't know who he has fight in that not to good record. He fought almost all the best fighters in the world, few of his losses are againts the best in the worlds, too, such Ricco Rodriguez, Josh Barnett (two naturally bigger guys with great skill sets), Chuck Liddell (twice but won once!), Vitor Belfort (due to a cut and he even won ...
Faithful Disagreement: Wrestling with Scripture in the Midst of Church Conflict
Frances Taylor Gench
Westminster John Knox
, 2009
Conflict is all too common in the church today. But as Frances Taylor Gench reminds us in this book, conflict over scriptural interpretation has been with the church since its earliest days. Gench reflects on those early experiences of conflict, presenting substantive studies of biblical texts showing that discord (e.g., Rom. 1415; Matt. 14; Jer. 28; 1 Cor. 1214; John 1317) and drawing lessons from each about how it informs current conflicts in ...

A Christian pastor welcomes teaching from this rabbi
If you are a Christian, you may think that an Orthodox Jewish rabbi comes from such a different way of approaching our shared Scripture that little would result from a lot of effort. Think again! This remarkable book is captivating from beginning to end and filled with innumberable insights that grace virtually every page. Along the way, you may, as I discovered, come away with a whole new ...
