Libera Eternal
Superb and sometimes haunting sound; unique vocal and accompaniment arrangements which are easy on the ear and soothing to the soul. Excellent value for the price. (Organist & Choir Director, Mount Bruno United Church, Montreal)

A Wonderful Collection
This is a splendid anthology of music. Traditional Baroque and orchestral pieces up front, and a few surprises nearer the end. A splendid work. The price makes it a steal. Add it to your cart. You will not be sorry. There is technical excellence - peace in some of the songs and real energy in others.

Harmonies and stylistics
I admit it: this is less a review and more of a compulsion to weigh in on the debate, as both a performer of early music and a longtime shapenote singer. First of all, this is Anonymous 4, and these women are much to polished and professional to do anything less than magnificent. That being said, this is Anonymous 4, and they worked for years on perfecting their sound and in particular the ...

All Handel's Greatest Hits are not created equal.
Nothing else tops this unusually gorgeous rendering. Leppard's is the finest conducting of Handel to this reviewers ears. Especially the Xerxes Largo and the Watermusic Hornpipes and Fireworks Oveurture tempi, legato and orchestration is full of warmth and energy. A true chiara scuro interpretation. Fabulous!!!!

Amazing talent
Without doubt, the birthday ode to Queen Anne (Eternal Source of Light Divine) is one of the loveliest pieces ever. Couple that with two of the most accomplished talents in the world, you have a near spiritual moment. Even those with even a passing interest in the classics will find this a stirring expierence. this is true candy for the ear and food for the soul.

A Must CD for Choral Music Lovers
Amazing Grace is a very appropriate title for this recording. For those of you who love Sacred Harp , Southern Harmony and Spirituals, you will revel in the folk traditions of this album. Parker and Shaw arrangements, and sometimes just one or the other are so well done. The singers, of course, do an excellent job of making music under Shaw's direction. "Hark I Hear.." arr. by Parker is becoming ...

Simply wonderful!
I recently got this CD as a birthday gift. I've been wanting this CD for a while. The first track is a wonderful song in all reality the entire CD is a wonderful experience. The prelude by Gershwin is unique sounding with the cello. The jazz quality is still there and has a bit of classical influence intertwined among it. Yo-Yo Ma's recording of Simple Gifts is a good song and when they had the ...

Another Rutter Keeper!
Rutter has won many fans throughout the world for his passionate, creative yet tasteful contributions to church music. Here is a hymn collection with several traditional choices along with Rutter originals. Several comprise Rutter's remakes, which is most cases are very diginified and not at all distractive to the thrust of the original. The orchestration is superb, and the Cambridge Singers of ...

A Towering Musical Achievement
While biographies disguised as reviews are tiresome, some background is in order, in this case. At the age of 23, Catrin Finch has been playing the harp for 18 years. She was appearing on British television and with major orchestras by the time she was 10, and was appointed the Royal Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales (a.k.a. Prince Charles) at the age of 20. Bottom line: This lady has more ...

Bravissima Diva!!!!
I must comment on the preceeding review which has nothing to do with the calibur of this CD nor of the artist. And just a touch on that whole Brevard "incident", there were two performances one of which came off without a fault...but I too digress. This CD is a plethera of what endures Kathleen Battle to us all...her diversity. It is true that none of her signature operatic roles appear in this ...

A moving survey of American hymns
This is an excellent, deeply musical performance of a wide variety of hymns, Shaker tunes, and spirituals. The choices provide variety and a thumbnail sketch of a time in America when hymn-singing was a part of every week's activities. I agree with another reviewer that "Precious Lord" is a highlight. Also noteworthy is "Give Me Jesus" at the end. Both the singing and acoustics of the ...

Gorgeous music, gorgeous performances
I am a semi-professional singer with a BA in Music, and I bought this CD with some trepidation because it looked like one of those dreadful "pop classical" compilations that are everywhere lately. But it had lots of great repertoire all in on place, so I decided to risk it, and I was not disappointed! In fact, this is now one of my favorite choral CDs. As usual, the Choir of Trinity College ...

Crowning Achievement
If you only have room for one recording of the Coronation Anthems in your collection, this CD will do splendidly. It's pure, lively and 100% fresh Baroque and the chorus really gets into the act. The heavenly harmonies of "My heart is igniting..." and "Upon Thy Right Hand..." are royal pleasure. But as if this wasn't enough, this disc also contains the Ode for Queen Anne, and with it, the most ...

Great CD!
This is an excellent CD. The US Navy band is one of the best musical ensembles in the world, and this CD proves it! My personal favorite is the selection "Songs of Sailor and Sea". I was fortunate to have performed this piece with a highschool state honor band, and it is extremely difficult to play, both technically and musically. All of the other selections are wonderful, also. I think ...

ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS!
I have listened to this compilation over and over again in my car when the world has become too much. These are artists at their best. Even if the only music on this CD were Lucianno Pavarotti's signature masterpiece, "Nessun dorma!", it would be priceless.

New Age with an eclectic blend of styles from across the musical map!
Some earlier reviewers would suggest that this isn't up to the standards that Karl Jenkins achieved in some of his earlier output. I couldn't respond to that because this is the first Adiemus recording I've ever heard and, frankly, I loved every second of it. I'm thrilled that other listeners think the earlier recordings are better because I've now got something to really look forward to. For ...
