Opera Babes
Sony, 2003
Seductive
"Opera Babes" gives you a nice visual image of at least two attractive women with some association with opera. Since this is an audio disk, that's basically all you have for a visual, unless you are odd and wish to stare obsessively at the disc jacket. But the sound -- oh, the sound is quintessentially feminine, seductive, alluring, and yes, operatic. If you find yourself carried away by ...

HOW DO YOU SAY,"WOW," IN ITALIAN?
BEFORE I START, LET ME SAY, THAT I AM A DANCE CLUB GUY AND THAT, ORDINARILY, THIS IS NOT MY KIND OF MUSIC. OF COURSE, I LAUGH AS I SAY THAT, AS, APPARENTLY, A NEW DOOR HAS OPENED IN MY LIFE, THANKS TO THIS MAN. A FEW YEARS AGO I HAD HEARD ANDREA DO, "CON TE PARTIRO," ON A PBS SPECIAL AND MY EYES FILLED WITH TEARS THAT ANY HUMAN COULD MAKE SUCH SOUNDS. I WAS ASTOUNDED; MORE ASTOUNDING, STILL, ...

Outstanding
I read all of the 1 and 2 star rating on this CD and just had to laugh. "Bond" could have recorded this in a more traditional classical music manor and most likely it would have faded into the back ground making them little money. Guess what musicians need to eat, they like nice things just every body else dose. This style draws in a greater number of listeners to enjoy their music and they can ...

Once in a great while someone does something right...
Kudos to Sony Legacy for putting this wonderful package together. The original 1955 recording of the Goldberg Variations is presented in it's vastly superior and long-neglected analog version (rather than early tech digital side-by-side master, which was, for whatever reason, the way it was released previously). The sound is fine. One can get an understanding right away why Bach is referred to ...

Exceptional! Buy this wonderful CD!
This is a mixture of sensual music, compilations, latin music, it is just mesmerizing. I find myself dancing a tango in my mind, while driving. The title really goes well with this music. When I want to "chill out," from the stress of the day, I put this music on. What a wonderful way to really get relaxed. Enjoy!

the one from the old audi commercial
If you're looking for the cool piece from the old Audi commercial, it's the first part of the 466 -- Allegro. Apparently you have to buy the whole piece to get it on iTunes. Very pretty.

Relax and rejuvenate.
I bought this album after a massage therapist played it during a massage. Miller evokes many emotions through his mastered art of guitar playing and I think many can appreciate the tone and mood his music sets. A-list singers paired with his rendition of popular and traditional pieces are a winning combination. Truly magical!

Summer for ANY Season!
I am NOT a fan of classical music. That single fact makes this extremely positive review perhaps even more impressive. Put simply, this CD offers vocal versions of several classical classics and movie scores as well. Summer is not an established "star" name in the music business but, one listen to some of the samples of songs like Nella Fantasia or Cavatina will convince you of the merits of ...

A wonderful summation
This Final Sessions release captures Arrau's tone better than any CD album I have heard. From the intial English Suites, all four of which were recorded during Arrau's Debussy sessions in Switzerland. The Beethoven is from Arrau's final Beethoven cycle, left incomplete at the time of his death and vary somewhat from his 60's set containig the concerto's and variations. The Schubert is ...

Excellent set!
An excellent set, showcasing many of Robeson's commercial (as opposed to political recordings) mostly recorded while he resided in the UK. A must for libraries and fans. When complemented by _The Collector's Paul Robeson_ (available from Smithsonian Folkways), _Songs of Free Men_, and _Songs for Free Men_ (these are two separate albums, despite the similarity in title), one sees the enormous ...

Great playing, great listening
This set has wonderful qualities on quite a few levels. What you have here are clear modern renditions of pieces by some of the best known composing names of the last century, recorded in modern sound by one of my personal favorite cellists around today. Haimovitz always brings a very clearheaded yet informed approach to his readings (Not to mention daring- I highly recommend his readings of ...

More Schoenberg Symphonies by Roger Sessions
In my review of Sessions' Third Symphony from 1957 (Roger Sessions: Symphonies Nos. 1, 2, 3) I commented that Sessions had composed the Symphony Schoenberg Never Wrote - and this wasn't a sneer. Sessions' embrace of Schoenberg's serialism resulted in works that sounded strikingly, all the way to the twists and turns of orchestration, like Schoenberg's orchestral music, from the Five Pieces opus ...

More Schoenberg symphonies by Roger Sessions
In my reviews of his Symphonies #3 through 5, Rhapsody and late Concerto for orchestra (see Roger Sessions: Symphonies Nos. 1, 2, 3, Roger Sessions: Symphony No. 4; Symphony No. 5; Rhapsody and Symphony 8 / Concerto for Orchestra), I commented that Sessions had composed the symphonies Schoenberg never wrote, and that statement can be equally applied to Symphonies 6, 7 and 9 featured here. They ...

best Carl Cox album ever!
This album is in my opinion the best album Carl Cox brought on the market. The records on this album are the records he played the most in the season the cd came out and most of them are just smashin'. Due to the fact that it's a live recording, it's a very uplifting and lively (dâh) cd. Even my friends who don't really like techno like this cd!

What a Great Voice!
Adding another album to his growing list, Russel Watson presents 13 more tracks to his fans and new listeners. If you enjoyed The Voice and Encore you're definitely not wasting your money on purchasing yet another album. Watson's combination of classical operatic pieces with symphonic pop orchestration puts a new twist on some old favorites. If you prefer listening to old remastered Caruso ...

Eccentric Centrist
Odd-ball individuals are more common than geniuses, but Moondog is both. Harry Partch had the highest regard for this blind graduate of Julliard, whose fantastic get-up of skins, furs and horns might have detracted from the impact of less seminal music. Since he was immensely tall, he made quite an apparition. Moondog's primitivo get-up was odd, to say the least, but since Moondog was blind, one ...
