Great product
This is fabulous and my baby loves it at 4 months old. I can hear him chatting to the images and it can give me that 20 mins of peace in the day that I sometimes need. Thank you Baby Einstein.

Holy Moly
It's insane that I am only hearing this recording now. I have several recordings of Petrouchka and the Rite of Spring, favorites of mine since I first heard them when I was young. Somewhere along the line I had been told that Stravinsky was not the best interpreter of his own works. Even here the Amazon blurb mentions his 'limitations with a baton' or something to that effect in its opening ...

El Salon Mexico - Copland
I bought this CD --- expressly for this piece of music by Aaron Copland. While it isn't as bold, with the beautiful piano renditions, which are found on the soundtrack of the movie "Fiesta", Bernstein manages to capture the spirit, and intent of the piece. It's wonderful listening.

Still One Of The Top Readings of "The Rite of Spring"
Leonard Bernstein turns an absolutely scorching reading of "The Rite of Spring" in this recording for Sony. What this reading manages to do is leave the listener on the edge of his/her chair anticipating the next phrase. It's savage, it's brutal, it's completely raw, this is where Bernstein excelled in my opinion. This is "The Rite.." with a kind of high-octane engine. The London Symphony ...

Tonic for the Great Recession. This CD will have you smiling
Once, on a very bad day I was sitting on the subway trying to distract myself with an audio book on MP3. Nothing helped and feeling worse and worse I gave up and clicked on Kristin Chenoweth's album Let Yourself Go. Within five minutes my spirits were lifting. I wasn't delusional. This music just makes a person feel better. The band with its 1930s feel seems to say "Great Depression or no, ...

This thing kills!
OK, this is not a great musical experience, but a hodgepodge of the loud, vigorous and stirring parts. For what it is, and purports to be, it deserves 5 stars. If nothing else, it has the best cannon fusillade of any 1812 overture I have heard. It also includes some of the best versions ever of several compositions, such as Kunzel's rendition of the Fucik favorite, Entry of the Gladiators. ...

Nice cd
I ordered this CD for my brother who is now taking piano lessons. The compositions aren't full length but they are good enough for a newcomer to get a feel for some Beethoven. I would recommend this CD to others.

Wonderful collection of Aaron Copland Hits!
Wonderful collection of Aaron Copland Hits! If a classical genius ever had a hit....like Britany. Luckily for us though. No Britany, Aaron yes! Very well done passages, Fanfare for the Common this NYS composers signature and a piece that has stuck with me since my college radio days 35 years ago! Eugene Ormandy, Leonard Bernstein and Louis Lane conducting these masterpieces, I had to have three ...

Relaxing Music Suited For Today's Busy Lifestyles
"A vast and tender calm Seems to descend from the sky Lit by the moon This is the exquisite hour" ~ Paul Verlaine ~ The above quote is taken from a poem by 19th Century Fench poet Paul Verlaine titled "La Bonne Chanson No. 6." His words fittingly describe the ambience of this classical album which promises unruffled musical moments just perfect for unwinding and relaxing, or when you're ...

all the stars you've got
Bill Evans once said that technique in jazz "is the ability to translate your ideas into sound through your instrument." If that's the case, Legrand possesses technique in spades. Before commenting on this rewarding disc, a few words about Legrand himself: Is there a better songwriter or a more versatile all-around musican alive today? I think you have to go back to people like Gershwin ...

The Best Of Gilbert And Sullivan
At the end of the 19th century (1870's, 80's and 90's) the compatible duo of librettist and composer Gilbert and Sullivan popularized the pre-Broadway entertainment of Savoy opera. These were light operas or operettas whose content was satire and comedy, full of bouncy melodies and beautiful singing, highly entertaining theatrical works staged at London's Savoy theatre. Gilbert and Sullivan did ...

Schumann for poets
There is more in Bernstein's performances of Schumann's concerti than one could ever expect, given the myriad recordings of these remarkable works from a master of the ethos of the Romantic era. Bernstein's recordings are romantic, emotional, nuanced, precise, and really in the groove. In the LP era, I had recordings of these works by Bernstein that I loved. These are even better. The Vienna ...

Anna Russell's humor as well as her knowledge of music never gets old. Her body of work continues today to be as entertaining as ever. Her review of "The Ring Cycle" is still the best preparation for experiencing the entire Ring that one could ever hope to hear.

I recently attended a concert of the Guarneri where I learned they were releasing this music again. I couldn't wait to order so that I could enjoy the Guarneri at my leisure. This set did not disappoint. If you can't have the live performance, this is an excellent substitute.
