more than worth the price
I bought this to replace a single-layer SATA DVD drive that came with an off-the-shelf computer. I was first surprised by the low cost but good reviews. The last DVD burner I bought cost hundreds of dollars. Now I've put this burner through it's paces writing a lot of dual layer DVDs for an archiving project. It's been fast and reliable through the whole process. A good buy.

What can I say, it works. I plugged it in, and it was recognized at boot up, and works like a traditional IDE. I have no idea if it's faster, smarter, or whatever, but it freed up an IDE port for an additional hard drive.
