If This Scanner Were a Man, I'd Marry It
My first scanner was an itty bitty Canon LiDE 30 and from there I moved up to an HP all in one that didn't scan any better or faster, then I got an Epson V500 photo and slide scanner and was in scanner heaven. I scanned my slides without effort and was a very happy scanner. Now along comes the Epson V700. Boy I thought the V500 was big. This baby makes that baby look like a baby. This is one ...

Microtek ScanMaker 5950
Have purchased multiple ScanMaker 5950 units to use for work and will do so again as needed. Easy to use, pretty much plug and play and scanning is very fast when you have multiple documents to work with at once.

Great value for the money
I am using this scanner for trips to the National Archives - it is compact, lightweight, and sets up quickly. It is making excellent scans of black and white photos suitable for book reproduction. The software set-up was easy, with no issues on my laptop - USB cables allow true plug and play, but be sure to use a USB 2.0 port to get the maximum speed out of this unit instead of the older USB ...

great for old photos
Had a bunch of old, worn and faded photos to scan. It allows you to scan multiple photos and a time while creating separate files for each! Such a time saver. Also color corrects faded worn photos beautifully! Simple to use. Very pleased!

Excellent product
The Epson Perfection V750 is a highly versatile, professional-level scanner with its full feature software (SilverFast Ai, etc). However with this high-level comes complexity that is more appropriate for the professional or dedicated, skilled amateur. As other Amazon reviewers have noted before me, the outstanding reviews of the 750 and the 700 at www.photo-i.co.uk gives an in-depth review of ...

Slow and problematic
We have had a Microtek Scanmaker i800 for several years. It has great color and D-max. BUt we needed a doc feeder. So we bought this model, assuming a somewhat similar quality and speed would be encountered. WRONG! This unit has a constant banding issue (rainbow stripes appx. 0.5" from the feed edge) and is very slow for an ADF unit.

It's ALIVE!!!
I recently bought this scanner. As an illustrator, I was tired of chopping up my drawings and scanning them small. My needs are simple, line art scanned, and this scanner does a BEAUTIFUL job. Admittedly, I would have purchased the Epson, but I am on a Mac and the Epson in this price range isn't compatible. (Only the $2300 one is. What a scam.) With the guys who say they can fix the issues ...

Not perfect, but extremely good
I bought this scanner to replace an old and unsupported Umax model that would not work at all with Windows Vista, and decided on this model after comparing prices and features, and I'm glad I did. One thing to note -- this thing weighs quite a bit, so make sure you have a large, sturdy surface to put it on. Installation was almost flawless. The CDs that came in the package had older ...

High-quality scans!
This scanner takes really good quality scans, especially for LineArt. The software does lock up in OSX sometimes, but you can eliminate this problem by turning off the auto power save option in the Scanner Control setting (from the main scanning window). Just remember to quit the software and turn the scanner off when you're done, to save the scanner bulb from excess wear (otherwise it would ...

Great scanner
This scanner is one of the best scanners out there for this kind of price. Not only was it easy to set up, it is super fast and reliable. I usually scan 10-20 page documents, just black and white and have it save in PDF format. It takes about 2-3 minutes to do a 20 page document. There are so many other features I haven't even look in to. Definitely two thumbs up!!

Great Scanner for the Money
This is a Great Scanner for the Money. And no I don't work for the Microtek company I am just a satisfied customer that would like to share his thoughts on this product. These days you never know how well the product you buy will perform until it's too late. I am not sure why other people that bought this scanner had so many problems. I installed the scanner software onto the computer first ...

Great Product...Questionable Software
The M1 Pro is a fine product that provides excellent quality digitized images of my old Kodachrome 35mm slides that date back to 1953. The software with the unit however required five "uploads" and five "uninstalls" before my new iMac would accept it on the sixth try. Further, I still haven't been able to upload the SilverFast Ai Studio software. The SilverFast is needed since the color ...

BEST CANNER AROUND
I have had a number of scanners, but none begin to compare with the Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL. To begin with, it has a 12x17" scanning area, and with the Transparent Media Adapter, it allows both reflective and transparent scanning. The software is amazingly simple. It is just the best scanner that I have owned.

Works for me!
I've been using the ScanMaker 4900 for half a year on a 400 mHz Pentium II running XP. The scanner has more than lived up to expectations. The hardware seems well engineered, and the software is powerful. Low resolution scans are satisfyingly quick. At the other extreme, you can have as much color depth and pixel density you could ever hope with scan times appropriate to the accomplishment. ...

Scanmaker 1000XL
Functions well and the color is fairly accurate. The portrait format makes it difficult to place on a desk that is not that deep and it is noisy. The Epson equiivalent would have been a better choice, similar cost but it's quiet, fast and has a better photoshop interface. Also, an annoying thing: the underside of the lid is black which makes it difficult to scan drawings on trace paper. The ...

Fixed scanner myself
I also have the Microtck 1000XL Pro and when my scanner was 13 months and a few days old I discovered under magnification that areas in the scans had digital artifacts that would show up when the scans were printed. I called Microtck and was given the same song and dance about there being no repairs and that I could get a discount on a new scanner. After doing some reading on line I determined ...
