This Caviar hard disk drive arrived in great shape and was well packaged. I always wish they packaged HDDs with a new IDE cable, but that's not a negative comment against the drive as much as the manufacturers. I think its a little noisey compared to a fully enclosed drive but nothing at all annoying about the noise level.
