Double Platinum
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Double Platinum was heartwarming as well as inspiring. Diana Ross is truly the consummate diva. She captures your attention whenever she walks out on a stage. The music made me cry, dance, think, and it made me want to sing. Yes, I ordered the CD, Every Day is a New Day! I have worn the grooves out of the CD and watched the movie three times. The duet with Diana ...

Almost perfect Nicholas Nickleby
This came as a bit of a surprise, suffice it to say, due to the photo used on the cover. I expected less but was so pleasantly surprised! I read Nicholas Nickleby years ago and have no plans to read it in the near future. That said, I had forgotten much of the story. It is obvious, though, that even without remembering much of the book nor the story, there is much that has been left out of ...

Cicely Tyson is one of the world's greatest actresses!
Cicely Tyson is one of the greatest actresses in the world at least in my opinion. In this film, she carries elder Flora Henning Palmer with grace, dignity, class, strength and beauty despite the obstacles that her character has to face such as the cold-blooded murder of her husband as he was killed by white men for simply stealing cotton and they get away with it. The actress who plays young ...

Powerful, Compelling, and still QUITE relevant
As an 18-yr old, I vividly remember when this movie came out and the swirling controversies that accompanied it. Whites were cautious because it openly dealt with not only an interracial love affair but because of the depiction of an unrelenting, proud, but very angry black man. Interestingly enough, with the advent of Black Power/the Revolution and the emergence of the Black Panthers, most black ...

I watched this movie for the first time about a year ago and was astounded at how well written and acted it is. It kept me on the edge on my seat !! What a great movie for the mid 1970s and made for TV ! It is in my top 10 favorites

Very funny and underrated
I think the humor in this film is a little to sophisticated for most Clint and/or Burt fans but this is a great movie. This is a very intelligent comedy that many people just wont get. I have read that people think the actors gave wooden preformances, that's what the parts call for. This film has some great scenes, especially Clints fight scenes.

Mahabharata
Mahabharata, directed by Peter Brook, is a great movie. It is a must see for all who are interested in epic mythology and who would like to understand more about the religious philosophies and culture of India. As an Indian I have heard countless stories about Mahabharata and seen many Indian movies based on Mahabharata. The story is vast and often spawned many discussions on arguments on why ...

Want glorious 70's kung fu? You cannot go wrong here!
Director Chang Cheh made over a hundred films many of which are hailed, by those who know this stuff, as kung fu classics. Famed action director John Woo was quoted as naming him as a major influence and when you see this classic it's easy to see why; When the action starts, it's breathless, over the top and doesn't stop. A SPOILER FREE SYNOPSIS: Some nasty ninja have killed our hero's martial ...

I must be in a good mood today giving thsi a 4
Now this movie is different than the movie called shaolin vs. ninja. I am reviewing the tai seng version. Now I sure somebody out there has seen this because it has one of the coolest opening scenes ever. You may or may not know of eagle han (han ying). He did a lot of godfrey ho movies and even fought gordon liu in the finale in the wonderfully horrible "Shaolin Drunken Monk". But when ...

Not what we'd like -- and yet the movies shine through...
I hope I'm as much a Dr. Mabuse fan as any American can be -- or maybe I should say "mind-controlled slave of Dr. Mabuse." I relish the wonderful All-Day versions of 1,000 Eyes (The 1,000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse) and the Testament remake (Testament Of Dr. Mabuse/ The Crimes Of Dr. Mabuse), the definitive Criterion Testament (The Testament Of Dr. Mabuse - Criterion Collection), and any one of the many ...
