Another Romero Triumph!
Following the events of George Romero's beloved Living Dead films, "Night of the Living Dead", "Dawn of the Dead", and "Day of the Dead", in which the bodies of the recently deceased returned to life and began feeding on the living and increasing in number, "Land of the Dead" takes us to a walled-off community where a society of human survivors live as two distinct social classes: the wealthy, ...

Unforgettable
I've seen this movie three times; it is one of my favorite historical films. And it really puts the kibbosh on any romantic yearnings for medieval times! Harsh, brutal, bloody and absolutely believable, even if it does take some liberties with facts, who cares? This is a film review site, not a place to quibble over historical accuracies/inaccuracies, and it was based on the novel by Alejandre ...

"Do you like it with ruffles or without?"
And such is the third film by Sofia Coppola in which we follow the lives of lost girls trying to find their way in the mismatched worlds they've been thrown into. In Virgin Suicides, there were the Lisbon sisters, strained by suburbia. In Lost in Translation, we had Charlotte, who'd rather karaoke-it-up with Bill Murray than listen to her husband drone about his photography shoot in neon-bright ...

Love Story Secondary
This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is certainly a love story, but for me this is only important in that love is one of the things most of us look for in life. The deeper search, and this is where Asia'a character starts out, is for a life that is not "frayed at the edges," perhaps another way of saying "whole." What plays out is two people, driven in part, for certain, by ...

007 comes to America!
This movie is awesome! OK, imagine this, OK, a stuntman, arrested and called into the FBI to defuse a bomb and end a nuclear crisis on a global scale; I for one think that THAT plot, had Ian Flemming come up with it first (which, who knows, could've been the story on his mind before he left), would've been a brilliant Bond movie plot. This version fairly amazed me, though, in a sense that all the ...

Solid Return To Form
Ten reasons to like this film: the soundtrack by Simonetti is great; the credits are beautiful; the cinematography is gorgeous even on DVD; Asia's performance is solid; the Mother, while no actress, is very hot; it has Udo Kier; the street witches are uniquely Argento; the ape is cool; the script is more coherent than haters claim; and Fulci's effects man worked on it! Also, it's never boring and ...

Three stars just for Asia Argento....
....and the film is better than people are giving it credit for. Shot in the same "Bourne" still grainy/moodiness of Olivier Assayas last film "Demonlover", it provides passable entertainment and international intrigue. Makes a good double bill with Demonlover.

Last Days
I really liked this movie. Although we may never know what actually happened to Kurt in his last days it was good to see an emotional idea of what may have occurred. This movie is for someone who is familiar with Kurt's story or it may not make any sense to you at all.

Two great films
These are two great Asia Argento films for one really low price. Her acting is terrific in both films, and if you're more into seeing Asia nude than Asia act, there's plenty of that too. And I must say SCARLET DIVA was quite a great writing/directing debut for her.

Either you get it or you don't.
The people that are complaining about this movie wouldn't know a good movie if it him em in the face. These are probably the same people who get excited when Ben Affeleck's new movie comes out, or whatever blockbuster mega studio production movie they can attend. If your one of them, than you'll never appreaciate this movie. This is an indy flick, low budget, cult classic. The acting and ...

A haunting horror thriller from Argento!
Lovely female police detective Anna Manni (Asia Argento) was having a fine day at the museum at some city in Italy, until she started getting weird hallucinations called "Stendhal Syndrome" which causes bizarre images when she sees works of art. She does go after a serial killer that goes around raping and murdering people, Anna must know more of the killer's instincts and moves if her Stendhal ...

Tragically Beautiful
Now I might not be the typical Phantom phanatic, but I thought this was the second best Phantom of the Opera movie I've ever seen (the first is the version with Robert Englund). Yes, better than the 2004 musical, I never really liked that version. I know the Phantom in this movie does not wear a mask, he does not have a facial deformity, but he is the Phantom all the same. This movie is ...
