Great Old School Actioner
For those waiting decades (literally) to get a remastered and widescreen version of this film and with the original English dubs, this is so far the one to get. One important thing though, is the Celestial Pictures remastered version, even though only with subtitles, the picture and audio quality is much better. You will notice the difference if you have both versions and watch them side by side. ...

Good movie, AWESOME special features, dual languages, and enhanced picture quality. If only all kung fu DVDs were like this
Alexander Fu Sheng plays Fong Sai Yuk and Chen Kuan Tai plays Hung Si Kuan in this Shaw Brothers classic. This is one of Chang Cheh's Shaolin Temple movies that he made in Taiwan (funded by the Shaw Brothers). I would say that this is somewhat of a minor Shaw production. When I say minor, I mean for 1974. By this time Shaw Brothers were very well known for having beautiful sets and stunning ...

Awesome Fight Scenes
I was a great Dragon Tiger Gate comic fan during my childhood days (in the 70s). You will appreciate the movie more if you're familiar with such comic. Since this is a comic adaption, I didn't have high expectation but surprisingly the actions are good! Fans of the comic will recognize the fighting style such as "Golden Mask" & "Electric Dragon Drill" in the movie. The CGI is done nicely & I ...

Legendary Kung-Fu classic meets Shakespearean epic
It's true, it doesn't have quite the action and hand-to-hand of 'other classics' like, i.e., The Kid with The Golden Arm, but you have to own this title anyways, or you're just posing. The movie is different from those 'other classics' in that it's hero is more of a 'real' person than the hero in those 'other classics'. He can't kick your head off, and he can't whip his ponytail through your ...

One of the Shaw Brothers best
Chen Kuan Tai plays a kung fu master on the run from a gang called the 3 Evils. Johnny Wang Lung Wei is their leader and these 3 are super tough. After getting injured, Kuan Tai looks for shelter at a young man's house. Yuen Tak plays the young man and stays at a kung fu school. He was taken in as an orphan and has lived there for about 3 years. He gladly takes Kuan Tai in and they begin a very ...

What style of Kung Fu is this?!
Oh man! This is one of my all-time fave Kung Fu films. I remember rushing home from my paper delivery route so that I could enjoy the brutal and mind-blasting Kung Fu action-blast that was known as "Action Kung Fu Theatre" on Buffalo 29. This was in the early eighties before uptight network executives sold every last minute of air time to infomercials and dull reality television shows. If you ...

One of Sun Chung's masterpieces
Anthony Lau Wing and Chen Kuan Tai star as rivals in this Sun Chung Shaw Brothers flick from 1982. There's a lantern contest coming up, and Lau Wing hires expert lantern maker Lo Lieh to help him win the contest. Suddenly a new character comes in, a masked man who kills women in really sick ways and then strips their skin off. It's made clear early on who the killer is, so the question ...

Attack of the martial arts Metrosexuals!
Punches and kicks send people flying 20 times further than scientifically possible. Spinning Nunchuku really, really(really, really) fast creates a protective and devastating forcefield. The leader of organized crime in China wears a cape and iron mask. Men sport God-given names like Dragon, Tiger and(wait for it...) Turbo. The tougher you are, the bigger your flare jeans are at the bottom ...

Modern Day Ninja!
I've had this film on VHS for quite a few years (under the alternate title of "Deadly Life of a Ninja"). It was one of the first ninja/kung fu films I ever purchased, and even in pan n' scan, I thought it was a blast. Unintentional comedy is evident in a few scenes, most notaby in the opening montage of Ninja history and training. For some reason, female mud wrestling is a secret Ninja skill ...

a cheaper version of Master Lau Kar Lueng's classic "Dirty Ho".
Just like drunken master, secret rivals, bruce lee movies... this is actually a decent spin off with a ton of great shaw brother stars. I gave the movie a 3/5 and the commentary a 5/5. It is a story about the 4th prince who wants to become emperor becasue he is righteous. So to do that he is going to kill hsi brother, the 14th prince becasue he was going to named ruler of the country. ...

Awesome Fu Flick
Another old school classic that I never get tired of. I have owned this on vhs and now DVD. I'm always coming back to this gem and I will explain why. Chen Kuan Tai is a vigilante kung fu master, who challenges a gang called The 3 Evils. He seeks to put an end to their abusive and murdering ways. After being set up and wounded during the encounter. He runs into a student belonging to one of ...

Old School Gung Fu Flick
This is one of Gordon Liu's movies that encouraged me to take up weapons. The fighting scenes are excellent and the Shaolin is very good. There is a fighting scene were Liu Kar Liang and Gordon square off. Its just spectacular. This is a Must See Movie. A Kung Fu Instructor's sun wishes his father would teach him martial arts but he doesn't because the young man [Gordon Liu] is to hot headed. ...

Why you never see a good martial arts fight compilation DVD/VHS.
A decade ago a company named Saturn Video released a tape called "The Greatest Kung Fu Fights of All Time" [ or something close to that title. ] The problem was that none of the fights on that video were any good, or even from any movie that any Martial Arts buff had ever heard of. You see, Saturn Video had originally been a distributor of cheap low budget independent films on home video, back ...

GET THE REMASTERED VERSION
Its simple, look for the remastered version. Don't get just any version. The movie is a classic and gets 5 stars from me. They worked hard on this one. But, anything other then remastered of this classic isn't worth it. Look for sellers stating remastered version.

Great movie, buy the bootleg and zip your pie hole
This non-Celestial pictures DVD is the best!! I LOVE SUPPORTING LOW DOWN PIRATES looking to make a quick buck, or even a slow one for that matter. Quite frankly the savings are passed on to the customer and everyone wins. I would make this movie on my DVD burner at home and sell it for $3 on amazon if I could and I would even throw in bonus footage of myself in ninja gear rocking out to Holy ...

Waise Lee(Xiong) and Alex Fong(Cheng) are considered brothers and are part of a crime family. Because of the outstanding work they have done, it has been decided that their father(the mob boss) will appoint one of them to become the new leader of the gang. Cheng(Alex Fong) is appointed, but he thinks that it should have been his brother. His father gets very angry and orders him to leave after he ...
