The Wings of Eagles20 reviews
John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara

Warner Home Video, 2007

The best of John Wayne
One of my favorite JW movies. I saw it when it was a new production... way back when... and it is still a great insight into an American hero, Spig Wead.

Born to Dance (1936) / Lady Be Good1 review
Frances Langford, Dan Dailey

Warner Home Video

Born To Dance is amazing!
BORN TO DANCE! What a great film. So much fun and so fast-paced! Love Me, Love My Pekingese is thrilling - even Buddy Ebsen is spot-on in this production! Don't miss it!

20th Century Fox, 2007

Creepy,Haunting,Sad....BRILLIANT!!!
Well my Dear friends at Amazon have gave me hell for doing a review to a classic movie of total despair! But wrong cover. The Hemingway Classics Collection (The Sun Also Rises / A Farewell to Arms / The Snows of Kilimanjaro / Under ...3 reviews
Gregory Peck, Susan Hayward

20th Century Fox, 2007

a wonderful collection
I love this collection. It brings me back to Hemingway who I read while growing up in the Fifties and Sixties. The restorations of the Scope movies are outstanding and the extras are informative. The cinematography and music of Adventures of a Young Man are very moving. This film brought me back to my youth. I highly recommend.

Hidden Hollywood - Treasures from the 20th Century Fox Vaults9 reviews
Joan Collins, Don Ameche

Image Entertainment, 2002

Pieces of the jigsaw
Darryl Zanuck, head of production at Fox, was famous for his editing skills. This DVD contains outtakes from many famous Fox films, trimmed sometimes for censorship or even political reasons or maybe simply to reduce the running time. If you know the films, you can mentally piece the outtakes into the originals. Some of the numbers are pretty awful such as Bert Lahr's incomprehensible song. ...

What Price Glory?11 reviews
James Cagney, Corinne Calvet

20th Century Fox, 2004

......Semper Fidelis at its Best......
I happen to love this Marine film...it appealed to my Marine persona throughout the movie...it may have dwelled on the love interests in the Reserve Area at length, but the mud-Marines and their jargon was real and chippy...I thought Jimmy Gleason stole his scenes while on camera like the old pro he always was...the casting was superb...Bob Wagner and Marisa Pavan were perfectly cast as the young ...

Classic Musicals from the Dream Factory, Vol. 1 (Ziegfeld Follies / Till the Clouds Roll By / Three Little ...10 reviews
Robert Walker, Van Heflin

Warner Home Video, 2006

What a deal
Although this has been called a mixed bag by some, for the price, you just can't go wrong. Judy & Gene doing the "Portland Fancy" and Judy singing "Get Happy" from "Summer Stock"; Lena Horne singing numbers from "Show Boat," the musical she should have been in; Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire doing their only real on-screen duet in "Ziegfeld Follies" (they pretty much just walked through "That's ...

Ziegfeld Girl23 reviews
James Stewart, Judy Garland

Warner Home Video, 2004

WONDERFUL MUSICAL-DRAMA
.. with an all-star cast. The plot is not new(Stage Door, How to Marry a Millionaire and Valley of the Dolls to mention but a few), but Judy, Hedy and Lana do an admirable job. Never mind highbrow critcs; Hedy Lamarr wasn`t THAT bad and Lana does one of her best acting jobs ever. Judy is a tomboy and it`s sad that life eventually took her into the direction of Lana`s character Sheila. The ...

It's Always Fair Weather25 reviews
Bill Thompson, Gene Kelly

Warner Home Video, 2006

Gene Kelly proves he's the best, once again.
This movie features a roller skating dance number by Gene Kelly that is outstanding, and is one of my favorite numbers by Mr. Kelly! Costarring Cyd Charisse, Dan Daily, and Michael Kidd, the movie includes wonderful dance numbers by all four. Entertaining plot. If you are a dance/musical fan, you'll defintely want to add this to your collection.

Ford At Fox Collection: John Ford's American Comedies (Steamboat Around the Bend / Judge Priest / Doctor Bull ...4 reviews
Dan Dailey, Corinne Calvet

20th Century Fox, 2007

Six comedies from the giant "Ford at Fox" DVD set
This package takes six of the comedy films that are part of the giant "Ford at Fox" DVD package and breaks it into a smaller more affordable subset. The films included are: Up The River (1930) - Contains the early sound problems common to most early talkies plus the obligatory singing and dancing (not done very well) inserted into a film that has the only mutual appearance of Spencer Tracy and ...

There's No Business Like Show Business
Charlotte Austin, Jimmie Baird

20th Century Fox, 2001

An all-star cast that includes Ethel Merman, Dan Dailey, Marilyn Monroe, Donald O'Connor, Johnnie Ray and Mitzi Gaynor sparks this tuneful Irving Berlin musical that depicts the trials and triumphs of a veteran vaudeville family. Molly (Merman) and Terry (Dailey) Donahue start out as a duo and keep adding kids to the act until they finally become The 5 Donahues. Their busy, sometimes tumultuous lives aren't always easy, but the Donahues have ...

The Wayward Bus2 reviews
Joan Collins, Jayne Mansfield

A Must SEE!!!!!!!!!!! Collins & Mansfield ARE GREAT!
This is by my opinion Jayne Mansfield's best acting in a film. She plays an ex-stripper trying to make an honest life for herself, and while on her journey to Mexico falls in love with Dan Dailey. She wears nothing revealing or flattering to her figure, and this is one of the few movies she uses her actual voice, not the dumb blonde coo and squeal voice. Joan Collins is the same age as Mansfield, ...

I Can Get It For You Wholesale2 reviews
Susan Hayward, Dan Dailey

Quintessential Susan Hayward movie
one of the great roles Susan Hayward played during her long carreer as one of the top hollywood actresses of her era: beautiful,agressive,smart...and yet sentimental and humane she is all women in "I can get for you wholesale" (1951), a big box office hit in 1951 Great direction, beautiful New York scenery, good supporting cast and the tempestuous ..and irresistible Hayward. I hope the DVD ...

Pride of St. Louis3 reviews
Dan Dailey, Joanne Dru

A great old Baseball gem
I love this movie. I always avoided renting it and ran out of choice one night and reluctantly picked it up. Wow, was I suprized. I laughed and really enjoyed this movie thoroughly. I especailly like the part when they are in the world series and Dizzy calls a time out to talk to the pitcher. You think it's going to be something big, but he says, "Does your dad still have the shotgun for ...
