Two Grand Daddy's Of Their Genre's Hold Up Quite Well!! Blu-Ray Review
First the real question. The transfers are pristine and look great. The sound is much better on both this go round. Worth the upgrade? Yes, definitely. The movies themselves are really trend setters for their time and tho Kelly's Heroes is the more dated of the two (ironically mainly because of the studio's attempt to update it to a sixtie's teen audience despite it's WWII movie ...

Johnnie Ray?
Yes, the famous crooner of the fifties, in his only movie appearance. Johnnie Ray. This cast has all of your favorites, including Marilyn Monroe. And thankfully, it is widescreen, so you see the whole picture. I watch this over and over and over. Johnnie was my favorite singer in the fifties.

That Funny Feeling with Sandra Dee
She is his maid who he only talks to on the phone & because she is an actress she uses different accents when talking to him to practice her acting. She then is told he is going out of town but doesn't know his trip is canceled. They share a taxi which since she is embarrassed with her small apartment she has him drop her and walk her to the door of his apartment - which he is very confused. ...

A Terrific Introduction to Deanna Durbin's Musicals!
Now, despite my 5-star rating for the "Deanna Durbin Sweetheart Pack", allow me one small criticism...Someone needs to make a film documentary about this unfairly forgotten star! Yes, she is still alive, at this writing (a feisty 88!), and still continues her 60-year exile from the United States and the film industry, but in the 'rediscovery' of her 21 exquisite films of the 1930s and 1940s, her ...

Brings back memories.
I know that as a twelve-year old, when I saw this on TV in 1985, I really liked it. It was never on as frequently as the animated version was, but there was a time later on it appeared again. My mother laughed and laughed until she just hurt. She liked this version as well. This one is the one that brings back the memories, for my mother is no longer alive now. Since the last time I watched ...

4 1/2 Stars for the FULL VERSION of a Forgotten Class Act
"Ragtime" is a great, vastly underrated materpiece of the early 1980s, before slasher flicks and Indiana Jones / Star Wars sequels turned American cinema into an arrested-adolescent male fantasyland. This is a complex, audacious reconsideration of 20th century America as seen through the lens of class, race and infamy (just right for the America of the 21st century). Milos Forman's adroit and ...

I think the sceans they do in the movie is good, Like how they made this big room with all these toys in the movie, i'm not talking about the storyline. I just like this movie for Ideas. I saw the buggy and horse that have Barbie and Ken on it in Disney World, it's displayed in the Cinderella's castel. As I remeber when i just turned 17 then. I have a good memory.

Memories
I had grown up as a boy in the 40's and 50's and lived in the Cinema. There were many genre's in those days, what I was allowed to see at that early age,was the Musicals. A wealth of reissues of the 30's linking into the 40's and into the 50's with ie.."I Love Melvin"( 1953 ) Not a major film, but full of talent from the Roar of the MGM Lion to the playout music, including the crew all involved ...

I purchased this as a gift that someone wanted. We all had the chance to see it when the gift was opened. It takes you back to when "Movies" were fun to watch--sort of an escape from reality--everryone knew the plot from the start, but it was fun getting there. I guess you could say it was visiting the Golden Age Of Hoywood. Somehow we missed the "Silver Age" and we are in the "Dark Bronze ...

if you like classic movie musicals this is for you !!!
Call Me Madam shines bright as one of the finest movie musicals ever made at Twentieth Century-Fox! The cast is superb and the acting is extremely convincing. The plot moves along at a very good pace and the way the songs are sprinkled throughout the picture works wonders for the film. The cinematography and the choreography are wonderful and the script was very well written. The quality of the ...
