Red Doors11 reviews
Tzi Ma, Jacqueline Kim

Warner Home Entertainment, 2007

Funny and poignant
Red Doors is a film about a dysfunctional Chinese-American family living in a suburb in New York. The parents Ed Wong (Tzi Ma) and May-Li Wong (Freda Foh Shen) have three daughters: Sam (Jacqueline Kim) who is the oldest, Elaine Kao (Julie) is the middle child, and the youngest daughter is Katie (Kathy Shao-Lin Lee). Ed had just retired and is trying to figure out how to excape the dullness ...

Disclosure43 reviews
Michael Douglas, Demi Moore

Warner Home Video, 1997

Another brilliant thriller from Hollyweird.
Disclosure is basically a movie about sexual harassment. For once, it's the male who's being harassed. Yes people, it does happen in real life. It makes the story more compelling than if it had been the usual "damsel in distress" kind of movie. Not that I'm trying to lessen the impact of sexual harassment against either gender. This kind of behavior is inexcusable for anyone. Disclosure ...

Donovan's Reef65 reviews
John Wayne, Lee Marvin

Paramount, 2001

A Comedy in a Tropical Paradise with Beautiful Scenery
One striking feature of this light-hearted movie is the footage of its setting (a south Pacific island). There is the sea, the sky, the palms, the mountains, and the beaches. There are the beautiful native costumes and Polynesian songs. The viewer is treated to a Christmas pageant in a tropical setting. Then there are the torrential tropical storms. This movie has nothing to do with reefs. ...

The Towering Inferno / Volcano6 reviews
Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche

20th Century Fox, 2006

Classic action and modern adventure
Foe those that enjoy the classic disaster movies the towering inferno needs to be on the list. Volcano is a newer movie in the same genre. The critics of such movies will disclaim all the flaws they see- but the picture as a whole is a fast paced action/ drama showing epic proportions. The older movies of this type were NOT using computer graghics but many other resourceful means to make the ...

Star Trek - Generations (Two-Disc Special Collector's Edition)220 reviews
Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes

Paramount, 2004

The Next Generation's Generation
The Good Things *Lots of good action and special effects. *Filming style is good. *Storyline is okay; it makes sense to me, but is mostly a good excuse to unite Kirk with Picard. It also incorporates a few important parts of the "Star Trek" universe, such as Data getting his emotion chip installed. *Characters are good. Picard, Kirk, and Data are all great. I love Malcom McDowell as the ...

Volcano94 reviews
Tommy Lee Jones, Anne Heche

20th Century Fox, 1999

Volcano
In 1997 there were two eagerly anticipated volcano movies released. Dante's Peak was more of a blockbuster hit, but not very accurate from a geologist's standpoint. Volcano was more realistic and accurate. It was nice to see a disaster movie depicted as it would naturally happen. Tommy Lee Jones and Anne Heche were wonderful to watch!

Nightmares & Dreamscapes - From the Stories of Stephen King26 reviews
William Hurt, William H. Macy

Warner Home Video, 2006

Nightmares and Dreamscapes
These short stories are all great fun to watch. They differ in tone due to the different writers and directors, but they are all fun. I highly recommend this product to Stephen King fans.

The Hollywood Sign2 reviews
Tom Berenger, Jacqueline Kim

Lions Gate, 2002

Flawed, but still entertaining and quite funny in parts.
If I could give this 3 1/2 stars, I probably would. It was flawed--the plot was far-fetched, and our main characters make some nonsensical or dumb decisions at times. But I still found myself laughing at quite a lot of scenes in this movie. Three washed-out actors (Tom Berenger, Burt Reynolds and Rod Stieger) become involved (through a series of bizarre events and unbelievable coincidences) in ...

Grizzly Mountain7 reviews
Dan Haggerty, Dylan Haggerty (II)

Lions Gate, 2004

Good family entertainment...
This movie would definitely not be recommended for any academy awards--and that's why I give it only 4 stars. But, this is good family entertainment, especially if you have young kids. It's a kind of adventure that children fantasize about. Even though the acting wasn't top notch, the story was fun, and I believe it is a good movie to watch if you have elementary school age children. There's ...

Billy Blanks' Tae-Bo - Instructional Workout, Basic, Advanced, 8-Minute Workout206 reviews
Gorden Kaye, Carmen Silvera

Ventura Distribution, 1999

Gets RESULTS! Offers everything it promises!
I bought this set back in 1999, reluctantly. I had never found a good exercise video and was getting the four pack hoping that at least ONE would be good. Well, it's 2006 and I am still doing Tae Bo. I have expanded my collection of videos (and DVDs now) but I still love the originals! Billy is an extremely motivational instructor, and you really feel the vibe of the people in the videos. It ...

Heavy Traffic29 reviews
Lillian Adams, Beverly Hope Atkinson

MGM (Video & DVD), 2000

A little bit o' personal history...
Heavy Traffic will likely never receive the attention or respect it deserves as a piece of honest to goodness Americana. Like most of Ralph Bakshi's most personal work, it is rough hewn, obscene (though never pornogaphic) outrageous and damn honest. Along with Coonskin and Fritz the Cat, Heavy Traffic is about life in the 60's (in fact, taken together these three films form a kind of animated ...

Unstoppable10 reviews
Wesley Snipes, Jacqueline Obradors

Sony Pictures, 2004

PROBLEMS, PROBLEMS, PROBLEMS - GREAT
Dean Cage has so many problems - He is trying to deal with the emotional trauma of causing his friends death. He is mistakenly identified as a CIA agent at a set-up so the twit injects him with a revelutionary hallucinatory drug that ends up killing its victim. Cage then explodes into action as he puts the make on the would-be kidnappers and goes on the run. Hey, I still like that truck, ...

Trauma27 reviews
Christopher Rydell, Asia Argento

Starz / Anchor Bay, 2005

Bellissimo.
My four star rating is only in comparison to Argentos previous work, this still destroy's mostly anything else that does'nt have Agento's name on it. Trauma walks a fine line between 'classic' Argento and a failure to live up to his previous standards. If you compare it shot-by-shot (like I have) to his best work it's really not that far off, but as a whole it doesn't come close to film's like ...

In Harm's Way / Donovan's Reef2 reviews
John Wayne, Lee Marvin

Paramount, 2007

A Duke Duo
"In Harm's Way" This movie is enjoyable on many levels. Right off you know it is a John Wayne movie. It is bound to have some John Wayne formula and actors that he works with in other movies. Add to this a cast not just of names, but actors that have a following in their won right. Now you have some great material to work with. Throw in Director Otto Preminger, who directed "Laura" ...
