"Don't Stand So Close to Me"
Although this movie does not really accurately portray Nabokov's story, it is a work of art in itself. Sue Lyon is perfect as the object of sexual obsession. James Mason is perfect as the obsessed. Shelly Winters is perfect as Shelly Winters. Sue was never able to continue on with different roles and we wonder what she would have been like if she had. We are able to start to see some of ...

alpha a ok
If you're like me you are always wary about Alpha DVDs, sometimes they are good, sometimes not. This one is good, the image is crisp and clear and it's a rare old chestnut, so make the move.

The Lessons of Vietnam?
DVD REVIEW I have previously reviewed Stanley Karnow companion book, Vietnam-A History, that goes with this ten-part series. I have reposted that review below for the convenience of the reader. Most of the political points that I have made there apply here as well. I would only add that visually some of the footage brought the message home more clearly that on the printed page and I would ...

The Duke is a Fun Film for the Whole Family!
The Duke is a very cute movie that features a live bloodhound and basset hound. Children (and adults) who are dog lovers will enjoy this movie. The story is a little predictable with a happy ending, but that's the way it should be with a movie so adorable! I highly recommend giving The Duke a turn in your DVD player.

Present for Dad
I can't say I actually watched this movie. I bought it as a present for my Dad for Christmas this year. He was featured as an extra in the movie. At the time, he was stationed at RAF Mildenhall, UK in the U.S. Air Force. I was just a baby when this film was shot, so it was nice to find the part where he was featured, pause it, and look in awe that he was actually on screen!

The Changeling - DVD Movie
Wonderful, Excellent. Now this is what I call a great ghost story...without any of the ax-hacking, blood & guts teen slasher elements. That seems to be all that Hollywood can produce nowdays. The Changeling has an interesting story line and very spooky scenes as well as a wonderful performance by George C. Scott...as always. Highly recommend it for anyone who enjoys a good old-fashioned thriller ...
