The Day After130 reviews
Jason Robards, JoBeth Williams

MGM (Video & DVD), 2004

Great early tv movie
This film is revolutionary in my opinion, because it broke the boundaries of the televised film at a time when tv storytelling technique was quickly evolving. The subject matter seems to have pushed the format forward and what results is a strange hybrid of tones. The performances are both smoothed for the medium and roughed up for the content. This was before editing for television so ...

Norma Rae27 reviews
Barbara Baxley, Beau Bridges

20th Century Fox, 2001

TACKLING INDUSTRIAL ISSUES
Norma Rae I saw the film (from my Dad's Collection), in our home theatre. Granted the acting is very good, the production is excellent and the story relevant, there's still something irritating (for me) in the way a young mother, Sally Field, ignores her husband (Beau Bridges) and kids to spend every possible moment , day and night, with a slimy union official (Ron Liebman). They are trying to ...

Toby Tyler28 reviews
Kevin Corcoran, Henry Calvin

Walt Disney Home Entertainment, 2005

Regarding the Aspect Ratio of this DVD...
For those that think that "Disney is screwing you over" by releasing this in a "Full Screen" format, it should be pointed out that the original aspect ratio of this movie is 1.37:1. While it is technically cropped to 1.33:1, no Academy Aspect film is ever release in true 1.37:1 format. That means full screen is the most correct format for this film. It was never widescreen.

Adventures in Babysitting127 reviews
Elisabeth Shue, Maia Brewton

Buena Vista Pictures, 2000

"It's like a Dairy Queen, you only get one flavor"
This is my all-time favorite 80's comedy. Watching it today, it is no less enjoyable than it was upon initial release. If a film stands the test of time, that is when you know it has become a classic in its own right. The performances by everyone are all around charming and delightful. The writing is clever, witty and fun. Adventures in Babysitting will engross you from the very opening when ...

Coming to America (Special Collector's Edition)133 reviews
Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall

Paramount, 2007

When Eddie was royalty
- Prince Akeem (to his Chamberlain): "Oha, It is my twenty-first birthday. You think perhaps just once I might use the bathroom by myself?" - Oha: "Most amusing, sir. Wipers!!" With this one, Eddie Murphy wanted to try something different, to veer away from his patented wisecracking role for a bit. COMING TO AMERICA is more of a romantic comedy and a fable, about a prince who comes to a ...

Point of No Return69 reviews
Bridget Fonda, Gabriel Byrne

Warner Home Video, 1998

I can't belive the ratings on here.
This movie is one of my top 5 favorite ever! I am a movie collector and a fan of Hit Man movies and I think this movie is great. I would have liked a little affair/love scene between her and her teacher but what can you do. They left me day dreaming about him making love to her like a wild animal, That actor is so sexy. I did see the French version and it was good too. But this one is by far my ...

Critters 3 - You Are What They Eat34 reviews
John Calvin, Aimee Brooks

New Line Home Video, 2003

Critters are now under rated beasties.
A little under rated. The critters find they're way into an apartment building, wreck havoc, eat some jerks, attack some people, burp and fart up a storm, raid the kithen, and even oprea sing! Loads of fun, but could of had better actors and the awesome origenal Critters score. Then I'd give it 5/5. The script was pretty goofy too. And whats up with Charlie doing the Tarzan thing? Jeez. Still ...

Making Love77 reviews
Michael Ontkean, Kate Jackson

20th Century Fox, 2006

Great Movie but 10 Years too late!
This is a great Movie and a good song to boot! It should have been one that could have been told 10 years sooner in 72. But good just the same. Can you believe Goldie Hawn was suppose to play the Jackson part. It would have been too funny!

Larry Vardiman, Calvin Beisner

Answers in Genesis and Coral Ridge Ministries, 2008

Excellent quality AND excellent science!
Millions of lives are at stake, especially in Africa. So is the economic stability of the world's most generous nation, the USA. This documentary combines interviews of highly qualified scientists--including PhD climatologists, PhD astrophysicist, PhD chemist, ecomomist and others--with footage from Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" and "The Great Global Warming Swindle" to show that signing onto ...

Boris and Natasha: The Movie7 reviews
John Calvin, John Candy

Platinum Disc, 1999

Better then the Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle
The rocky and Bullwinkle movie which hit theaters 8 years later then this movie was a disgrace to Jay Ward. This movie however was a great movie based of those too spies Boris and Natasha. Except for a small part of them being turned to humans Rocky and Bullwinkle don't appear in this movie. However it is filled with action that the R&B movie does not have. Great for Rocky and Bullwinkle fans and ...

Back to the Beach43 reviews
Frankie Avalon, Annette Funicello

Paramount, 2004

Bobby!!!!
If you like anything about surfing movies, or surf music, or old TV shows and actors, you will like this movie. It's goofy and predictable, sure. But what isn't anymore? If you are a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan, or a Dick Dale fan, then their scenes are worth owning the DVD for.

Convicts21 reviews
Robert Duvall, Lukas Haas

MGM (Video & DVD), 2005

It's Horton Foote Quality, Which Some Viewers "Miss"
I'm giving it four stars only because it's not as good as some of his masterpieces like TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, or his adaptations of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD and OF MICE & MEN. But it's still a great film. When you read the reviews, take into account the reviewers. The ones who dismiss it as boring will be bored by anything Horton Foote writes. His work is too subtle to be popular, so if you want a ...

Twilight of the Golds23 reviews
Garry Marshall, Faye Dunaway

Fox Lorber, 1999

Thought-Provoking
I really like this movie. The actors are top-notch and the subject matter is deep and frightening. It brings to the forefront what many, including those in the LGBT community, are afraid to REALLY discuss. It's worth owning and gifting. My ONLY negative comment is the actors playing the gay characters don't seem completely comfortable playing a couple. Their interactions were awkward and ...

Joe Pesci is hilarious in this movie the movie has such sick humor that it's funny (only in the movies though) the cast is picked out quite well the idea of the story is quite creepy and amusing the situation with having the heads and trying to give them back is hilarious just an all out hilarious movie glad I got this on dvd it's worth the watch over and over and over and over again for ...

The Formula8 reviews
Marlon Brando, Martin Brandt

VCI Entertainment, 2007

Must see!
The Formula This is an excellent movie that for some reason never made it big, likely due to its subject matter. The plot revolves around the idea that Nazi scientists discover a means to develop synthetic fuels and lubricants from coal. This of course becomes an issue of utmost importance to the big oil companies. Realizing that with the mass production of synthetic fuel they would no longer be ...

Jim Backus, Roger C. Carmel

20th Century Fox, 2004

why isn't this movie on queer film lists???
i have been walking past this movie for years in the video store and passed it up as many times... except this last time. of course raquel is a steammy dream in her flashy and skimpy get-ups [a bonus] but the story is equally as fun to watch unfold. since i don't like to give away too much on a review, i will leave you with a few tidbits to ponder: 1] watch it for the cast (raquel welch, farrah ...

How about ME?
'Am I Black enough for you?' That was the question the Right, Righteous, Reverend, Deke O'Malley asked of the people. I saw this when I was 14, in 1971 and have never forgotten it. Calvin Lockhart, Raymond St. Jacques, Godfrey Cambridge and the Drop-Dead Gorgeous...Judy Pace, made me sit in the State Theater and watch this at least 4 times running...right on my brother...Right On!!!
