Total, all-out fun. A few touching moments, but otherwise, Smith and Jones play off each other so well. Tommy Lee Jones' ability to be deadpan in any situation is incredible. Will Smith is non-stop hyper, Jones is slow and steady. Awesome combo, good supporting players. For anyone who likes a lot of laughs, wacky characters, and tons of action and slime, I would highly recommend this combo.

Good fun!
Some reviewers here seem far too critical. Our family accidentally chanced on a TV rendition of the move, and it was a lot of fun. Sure, it's not accurate historically and the plot is somewhat predictable (lots of movies out there are, including some classics), but acting, setting, mood, and story are well done, making this a good light-hearted evening watch.

I love this movie and my only issue is that the VCR version, subtitled when the characters spoke French - some very amusing asides are lost in the DVD version because the French is not subtitled. Otherwise, I can't recommend it enough.
