Paris, je t'aime [Blu-ray]3 reviews
Fanny Ardant, Juliette Binoche

First Look Pictures, 2008

Je t'aime
Paris is a city of light, lovers, art and beauty, and it's been immortalized in paintings, music and fantasy throughout the centuries. But you've probably never seen so many facets of this city before. "Paris, Je T'aime" explores all the sides of the city in in eighteen very brief films, all set in various arrondissements of Paris, and directed by some brilliantly underrated directors with ...

Natalie Portman, Elijah Wood

First Look Pictures, 2007

I think I'm in love...
Originally written Nov 27, 2007... I've never been to Paris, but have always had it on my list of places to visit. The history, the art, the culture are all well documented. That's why it's the most visited city in the world. More tourists flock to Paris each year than to any other location on the planet. I hope to count myself among those numbers some time soon, and the urge for going was ...

A Mystery To Watch Over and Over Again
This is movie that I often put in my little box TV and watch while I play on the Internet. It's a slow rolling mystery that gets to you, and it has an wonderfully unexpected ending. Highly recommended for people who love slow-rolling mysteries without a lot of blood and guts. An English woman and writer of mysteries needs a change of pace, and her publisher gives her the keys to his villa in ...

Love Songs5 reviews
Ludivine Sagnier, Jean-Marie Winling

Ifc, 2008

A charming confection of a film
This is perhaps Honore's most accessible film to date, even though it is a polyamorous musical. Louis Garrel continues to impress and the smaller roles of Sagnier and Hesme are given ample room to shine as well. The music is beautiful, particularly the song about the Bastille, sung by Sagnier's character and her family in an opening scene. The even smaller roles of the family members are ...

8 Women88 reviews
Fanny Ardant, Emmanuelle Béart

Universal Studios, 2003

A mystery story worthy of Hitchcock
I really enjoyed this movie. It is a thriller/mystery where a murder has been committed and it is plain that it has to be one of 8 women, but who exactly. Everyone appears to have a good reason to have committed the act and the accusations, jealousies and intrigues are rife. A treat to have some of the very top French actresses all in the same film and the acting is great.

Moliere15 reviews
Romain Duris, Fabrice Luchini

Sony Pictures, 2008

great movie
This is a wonderful foreign movie! So often foreign films are depressing, artsy or down right weird. But this one is funny and wonderful, the acting is superb, and the scenes are reminiscent of Moliere's work. The film is entirely in French, with English subtitle option. The story fictionally depicts what could have happened to Moliere during a short period of time early in his career. The ...

A great introduction
I admit that aside from what I learned on this DVD, I know very little about Napolean. That being said I absolutely loved this set. It played just like a movie, so you wouldn't know it was a documentary at all. It is very entertaining and flows nicely. I can't say if the facts presented are facts indeed, but I am certain that I know a significantly more about Napolean now than I did before ...

My Wife Is an Actress20 reviews
Jean Abelanski, Lionel Abelanski

Sony Pictures, 2002

Yvan Attal's Love Letter to Charlotte Gainsbourg.
No doubt Yvan Attal could write the book on being married to a beautiful French actress. Written and directed by Attal, My Wife is an Actress (Ma Femme est une actrice) is a French romantic serio-comedy starring Attal and his real-life wife, Charlotte Gainsbourg. Attal plays a struggling sports journalist (also named Yvan) who becomes insanely jealous when his beautiful actress wife (also named ...

FIRST RUN FEATURES, 2005

Wonderful example of great French cinema.
Wonderful film to watch. Brought back memories of what it was like when I started viewing French films more than 20 years ago. Of course, Ludivine Sagnier makes it even more enjoyable yet, as well as the beauitful cinematography.

Children of the Century8 reviews

KOCH LORBER FILMS, 2004

SIMPLY EXCELLENT
This movie is one of the best I have seen in my life. The beautiful and sad love story between George Sand and Alfred de Musset, the perfect actors that gave them life, Juliette Binoche and Benoit Magimel, the costumes, designed by Christian Lacroix, the music. I would give this movie 6 stars If I could, but since I cannot, I will give it "only" 5. This movie is a "must see". I strongly ...

Mulholland Drive/Swimming Pool (R-Rated Edition)1 review
Charlotte Rampling, Ludivine Sagnier

Universal Studios, 2004

An odd pair of films from David Lynch and François Ozon
Sometimes there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the combinations of movies they come up with in these 2-packs but with "Mullholland Drive" and "Swimming Pool" they came up with a quirky combo. If you do not like David Lynch and those who make movies in that mold then you should know that going in and can just avoid these two. But if you like quirky films that force you to think to figure out ...

Christal, 2007

Wonderful Film
I found this film to be quite refreshing and beautifully done. Granted, there are several scenes in which the plot seems to slow down; however, I was impressed at how beautifully the acting was done. The comedy in the film was funny and clever; and anyone, especially those who truly appreciate literature and Moliere's work can find joy in watching this film. If you enjoyed "Shakespeare in Love," ...
