This Is One You'll Remember
Some movies stick in your memory, regardless of your critique of dialog, editing, etc. For me, this is one of those films. Maybe it's the idea of a man blinded after a life of sight, who triumphs over himself and the rest of the world. It an "inside" movie, with lots of "outside" action -- a certain kind of person will be very affected by it -- and most others will enjoy it anyway!

Really scared me when I was little
Everybody gives this movie bad reviews, but it really freaked me out when I was a kid. I remember the scene when they go to dispose of the first infected body, that pervo guy, who drank the vodka. Just before they go to blow him out of the submarine hull, or whatever. A limb, tentacle thing spews out of it, and scratches one of the crew. Really creepy. Than one of the girls is so traumatized, by ...

Mysteries like you've never seen!
Chief Superintendent Adam Dalgliesh of Scotland Yard is my all time favorite tv detective. The video looks dated, but the stories are great. These mysteries keep you guessing untill the last minute. You better hit the pause key if you leave the room for a minute or ypu'll miss a vital clue... they are very subtle (Unlike some modern mysteries that give you everything in the first few minutes of ...

Guyana Tragedy....
I purchased this movie and couldn't wait to get to get it. As a kid, this movie used to come on a lot and I use to watch it all the time with my mother. At first, I was a little skeptical to get it, but I took the chance. I was a skeptical because most of the user reviews stated how bad the quality was. Now, I'll admit, the quality on this is not your typical DVD quality. It does look like it was ...

One of My All-Time Favorites!
I have loved this movie since it came out. I have yet to order the DVD, but will soon. I have trouble with anyone not seeing the value in this film. Yes, you have to suspend disbelief in order to "get" it. But it is a spectacularly beautiful movie with great acting and many messages for the human soul, including that we are so much more than our technology. I have never tired of watching it ...

This is the novel brought to life.
If you want to truly experience Hawthorne's work, this version is for you. In contrast, the Demi Moore version bears little resemblance to the novel. To choose it over the PBS version would be akin to choosing a coloring -book rendering of the Mona Lisa over the masterpiece itself: you get an idea of what it is all about, but all the right colors and strokes are missing, and the drama and ...

I was introduced to this movie via a youtube clip and knew after watching it I had to have this movie. After waiting for it to come in the mail (I checked several times a day in case I missed its delivery) I finally got it and immediately played it. Here is my opinion... It begins to paint a very unhappy state of affairs of the world. A drifter named Nada (Rowdy Roddy Piper) is struggling ...

An underrated masterpiece
The Osterman Weekend is usually dismissed as a failed effort of Peckinpah's, as his last, drug-addled attempt to reclaim his fame. Many critics wave it off as uneven or even denounce it as incomprehensible. I take issue with such critics, and will here argue that not only is The Osterman Weekend a great film, but that it is in fact one of Peckinpah's greatest achievements as a filmmaker. In my ...

Athena baby, you're a hot goddess
This comments refer to the VHS, unrated copy, not to this DVD. There is no unrated DVD for this movie, as far as I know. If I wanted to watch something steamy, I would favor soft-core or erotic movies. Hard-core pornography is so idiotic that one either falls asleep or may risk dying of boredom. Dialogue is reduced to moaning on the part of male actors and the immortal line "oh yeah" on the ...

Eerie deja vu
In the late 70's I got caught up in the Moonie cult for a time in Northern California. This is a very accurate portrayal of the moonies of that time and place, right down to the rickety converted chicken coop they had their talks in, the cult member who follows you everwhere, the "choo choo yay pow" cheer. (Yes they really did use that!) The enforced conformity, The famous dodge ball game with ...

Worth 'the wind' in action in this suspense/horror thriller.
Had seen this movie way back in 1987, when it was just released. Although, never accessible again, its worth viewing for its story line, in particular 'the wind' in action. The suspense/horror is gripping. Hope that its VHS price reduces, as its a collectable.

Fun, but not as good as the first...
The two Oblivion movies are some of the best, and least known, of the Full Moon films. This film takes place immediatly after the first. (I think they were filmed at the same time.) The main plot concerns an intergalactic bounty hunter after a sabatour wanted by the galaxicorp. The main suspect is Lash. (Played by the incredible Musetta Vander.) Zack, as sheriff, must help the bounty hunter in ...

Classic, high camp... with MUSETTA VANDER
I love this movie... I first saw it eight years ago and only recently hunted it (and its sequel, Backlash) down as an exorbitantly-priced VHS, even though it meant playing it on a tiny, tinny-sounding TV/VCR. So, it's a "Sci-Fi Western." Let me see... Was it hokey? Heck, yeah! That's what MAKES the movie. Basically, toss Clash of the Titans, the original Star Trek series, The Adventures ...

"Yes, I have. Several, and not particularly."
One will no doubt read many venomous reviews of this film. Most were written by offended homosexuals. Ignore them. This film seems more keen to explore gender roles rather than just being another gay platform. Personally, sexuality has never simplified anything, in my opinion. So I don't want a predictable plotline from a film that deals with this subject matter. You won't find that sort of ...

Rodger Mason (Gary Daniels) is convicted for a crime he did not commit, and sentenced to one year in prison. Determined to return to his daughter's side, he escapes and is recaptured and frozen for 26 years and again each time he is brought out of the freezer and escapes. It's clear to see that this movie was made on a budget,. but for those of us who like budget films, this one ia true gem. ...

A Surprising Good Sequel...Terry O'Quinn Owns Role...
THE STEPFATHER was one of the most minor but great horror films to come out in 1987. Terry O'Quinn fit the role perfectly, and the rest of the cast, while not all filling their roles to a tee, nonetheless supported him well, making his character all the more believable in his psychotic rage. Now, I saw STEPFATHER 3 before this one, and I wasn't impressed with the third one and don't plan on ...
