The Complete Thin Man Collection (The Thin Man / After the Thin Man / Another Thin Man / Shadow of the Thin ...194 reviews
William Powell, Myrna Loy

Warner Home Video, 2005

Thin Man Series is not Tinny
Have always been a fan the Thin Man and this collection has it all. I viewed the films in chronological order purposely to notice the changes in quips between the two . They were more witty and sophisticated with each film. To tell you a secret, I really never cared for the explanation of why the killer did it but rather the scenes to catch the killer is what makes these films. Yes there is a ...

The Point186 reviews
Ringo Starr, Dustin Hoffman

RCA, 2004

I have a Point
There are many fine reviews of this feature cartoon so I won't add a repeat of all the others to the list. However I would like to make a few points of my own. How many of us noticed the anarchist with a bomb, the artists smoking pot, Orichs skull from Hamlet I believe, or the very Beatlesque walrus? They all reinforce the main theme of the whole film which everyone has interpreted for ...

The Time Machine205 reviews
Rod Taylor, Alan Young

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM), 2000

The Time Machine is a gripping science-fiction tale
Everyone has his/hers favorite movie, but The Time Machine has to rank way up there on many people's list. Based on H.G. Wells eerily dark vision of the future, George Pal's Time Machine is science fiction at it's best. Inventor George Wells (Rod Taylor) has invited his friends over for dinner at his house. His friends are impatient, as George is late for his own dinner. George soon manages to ...

Tom and Jerry - Spotlight Collection59 reviews
Tex Avery, Joseph Barbera

Warner Home Video, 2004

Re-living my childhood
Looney Tunes, Droopy and Tom & Jerry were some of my favorite cartoons when I was growing up and it's great to see that they're finally getting released on DVD sets since they're not shown on TV anymore. None of these newer cartoons even compare to these and probably none ever will. These classics are definately worth picking up and definately have alot of replay value.

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol31 reviews
Jim Backus, Jack Cassidy

Classic Media, 2007

One of the best tellings of the classic tale. . .
Okay, I admit I'm biased. I first saw MISTER MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL in 1962, when it was first broadcast on TV and sponsored by Timex. I fell in love with it immediately, and subsequent viewings over the years have not diminished its beauty and, yes, power. A cartoon that grabs you by the heart and doesn't let go? Yep, it sure does. The Nearsighted Mister Magoo as Ebenezer Scrooge? One ...

The War of the Worlds (Special Collector's Edition)261 reviews
Gene Barry, Ann Robinson

Paramount Pictures, 2005

Confusion Over Aspect Ratios
George Pal was the leading producer of sci-fi films of the 1950's and "The War of the Worlds" is probably his finest effort. I watched it as a new film in a local theatre in 1953 when I was 13. The scene in the abandoned farm house is still one of the best examples of building suspense in a film scene that I can recall. You could have heard a pin drop from an audience full of kids! The ...

Frosty the Snowman/Frosty Returns48 reviews
Jimmy Durante, Billy De Wolfe

Classic Media, 2004

Timeless Rankin and Bass Christmas Classic Paired With An Unfortunate "Update".
While it is a total joy to have the classic Rankin and Bass Christmas classic "Frosty the Snowman", on DVD what is disappointing is that it is unfortunately paired on this DVD with a dour "update", of the adventures of the most famous Snowman in the world titled "Frosty Returns", that is a clear victim of "politically correct", agendas. The original 1969 classic "Frosty the Snowman", is a story ...

Tex Avery's Droopy - The Complete Theatrical Collection79 reviews
Bill Thompson, Paul Frees

Warner Home Video, 2007

You Know What....I'm Happy..... I got this DVD set!!!
I've been waiting for something like this ... Some of Tex Avery's best cartoons on DVD. All of Droopy's best are here. If you're a Droopy fan than I greatly recommend this DVD set. We definitely need more Tex Avery! His fast paced cartoons are some of the funniest ever made. You won't be disappointed.

Tom and Jerry - Whiskers Away Full 10 episode version14 reviews
Tex Avery, Joseph Barbera

Warner Home Video, 2003

Classic Cartoons
I love Tom and Jerry. I used to watch these all the time. I used to read their books all the time. I am so glad that there is something out there that has allowed me to relive my childhood. I think any adult and child should have the plesure to watch these classic cartoons. They are a little over the top so the children should be a little older when they are allowed to watch.

Buddy Hackett, Robert Morse

Warner Home Video, 2008

Remastered Edition is very nice.....
It is so great to get a fine dvd treatment of the classic 1979 Jack Frost. Man, this just takes me back to my childhood. The story is: Jack who falls in love the beautiful Elisa. He decided to turn human in order to be with his love, but unfortunately he loses Elisa to the evil of Kubla Kraus. I'll stop there....will Jack regain his lady love. Buy it and see.....(and see if you recognize ...

Where the Boys Are
I wanted to say that I was thoroughly pleased with this movie. I am 55 years old. I remember watching this movie as a pre-teen is 1965 at a slumber party. So I gathered my friends from the slumber party, we watched the movie again together and still cried over it. It brings back fond memories of when we were young girls. Now we are grandmothers. Thank you so much. ...

Classic Christmas Fare!
Once you get past the usual Christmas movie-viewing to-dos...Frosty...Grinch...Rudolph...Charlie Brown...you MUST check out this movie! Classic cast! Fred Astaire! Mickey Rooney! Keenan Wynn! For years the name Burgermeister Meisterburger has rolled off my lips, and this year I finally bought the movie to show to my kids, which they loved.
