So original, so much fun
This jaw-dropping series from Canada originally aired in the USA on the Sundance channel. There are so many surprises and astonishing moments in this jaw-dropping series that I almost hesitate to tell you anything about it because part of the delight of this show for me was having no idea what was coming next. The New Burbage Festival has seen better days. Its productions of Shakespeare are ...

Whats in the box? 5 stars worth!
You're getting all 68 episodes (Including Pilot and Finale) spread out across 11 single sided discs. Unlike the Canadian releases, there are no flipper discs to be found in this complete set. Each disc has 5 episodes on it (Instead of the usual 4) which brings me to my only complaint. These discs are the same as the US releases seen here on Amazon. (Priced at 20 apiece) The 1st and 3rd season ...

Bobby!!!!
If you like anything about surfing movies, or surf music, or old TV shows and actors, you will like this movie. It's goofy and predictable, sure. But what isn't anymore? If you are a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan, or a Dick Dale fan, then their scenes are worth owning the DVD for.

A Wonderful Surprise
This movie was a wonderful surprise. I bought it because it stars Paul Gross, whose work I've appreciated in the Due South television series. I expected to see an ordinary boy-meets-girl romance, something cute, fluffy, and forgettable with some nice eye candy. Instead, I found a well-written, appealingly filmed, and very well-acted story that works on a number of levels. Yes, there's a love ...

A message that never gets old
Candace Cameron and Fred Savage shake off the goody-goody images associated with the roles that brought them teen stardom on Full House and The Wonder Years. Cameron plays Stacy Collins, a normal high school girl full of insecurities who happens to land the class hunk. Savage is Bobby Tennyson, high school wrestler and all-around popular guy. When these two get together, Stacy finally knows ...

This series is brilliant. Wonderfully fleshed out characters and a story line that keeps you going episode after episode. Highly recommend it. Huge savings if you buy the complete set.

To do Retro then was very Nowtro
This is a more gentle musical satire than Spinal Tap, but no less an acheivement. There are beautifully detailed performances from Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara as the former folk sweethearts Mitch and Mickey. The husband and wife out of the New Mainstreet Singers reveal their devotion to an 'unconventional deity' - to do with the 'vibratory power of colour' - that exists only in the mind ...

Virtual reality and corporate cosmology
I saw "Network" when it was released in 1977. I'd just graduated from college and was still pretty wet behind the ears. Now, with thirty years' worth of experience in the world, I've watched the film again, and am stunned by how prescient it is. Screenplay author Paddy Chayefsky nailed it on both counts when he suggested that the world of television addicts us to artifice, and that money, not ...

A Microcosm of Deftly Drawn Characters...and Life
A day in the life on Wilby Island, off Nova Scotia, may not sound like a resource for rich storytelling, but in the gifted hands of writer/director Daniel MacIvor and inordinately talented Canadian cast WILBY WONDERFUL penetrates more dark secrets, exposes more astray lives, and addresses more human frailties than almost all of the competition. This is independent filmmaking at its finest, with ...

Great family viewing
Due South is a well-written, charming show that is fun to watch with the whole family. I mean 10 through 52 year olds. It is witty. The characters are interesting. It is just really well done. We are always looking for things that we can watch together in the evening and this was a real hit. I highly recommend it.

The superb final season of Due South! Don't miss it!
I am at a loss to understand the confusions and quibbles of some of the reviewers of this final set of Due South CDs. Paul Gross's portrayal of Benton Frazer is more refined than ever, and his new partner, Ray Kowalski, is played by Callum Keith Rennie to perfection. Like Gross, Rennie is a master actor. The two of them clearly formed a close bond making these episodes. Their relationship as ...

Okay, but not as good as the original
I didn't think this movie was as bad as most of the negative reviews here. (But then I admit to being easily entertained when it comes to movies:-)). The movie doesn't have the big screen appeal of the original, perhaps, but for a made for TV movie I thought it was okay. The detractors are right about many of the changes from the original--the professor's daughter rather than his servant ...

Kinder Is NIcer
Due South, the only Canadian TV show that aired on U.S. PrimeTime television, came and went without most of us knowing about it. But this quirky series not only provided a cop show with interesting plot lines, it fed us characters that were likable and wonderful to watch interacting. Fraser, the RCMP Mounty, is an invariably polite, unfailingly non-violent (to the extent possible) liason to the ...

Warning: "Play All" deleted scenes
The DVD production team slipped up. Many of the best deleted scenes can be seen only if you choose Play All. The onscreen list stops halfway through the actual roster. There is also a glitch in the wonderful additional Lear material. Lear's daughter is named "Ophelia" in the credits! They just couldn't escape the ghost of Hamlet, I guess.

Heart-breakingly Real
I'd highly recommend this film to anyone, but especially to any female artist, musician, actor who has come of age. This isn't so much about a May-December romance: it is about the student/mentor bond which can be incredibly strong and intense, and an aging artist who through Harper, is trying to hold onto his past youth and the artistic potential he once had. This could have been such a ...

Courtroom drama that's not...
A courtroom drama that doesn't unfold in the courtroom at all. It is told through a story line with two different views on what happened that fateful night. It'll make you wonder what really took place. Fine, fine performance by Annette Bening. Has she ever made a bad movie?Ben Kingsley usually always does well in his roles too (see the powerful movie 'House of Sand and Fog' or 'Death and ...

Stacy Hunter and Melissa Halpern are best friends that share a common problem: sex. Stacy is a fun, flirtacious, woman who is regretting her reckless sexual past.
