Army Scouts & Apache Warriors
This 1953 western movie is an excellent movie for its time and for all time. The script is based on W. R. Burnett's hardcover novel, ADOBE WALLS, published by Alfred A. Knopf in 1953. The western novel by Burnett is loosely based on the life of Albert Seiber exemplar frontiersman and U.S. Army Scout in Arizona Territory during the Apache Wars of the 1880s. Much of the happenings are true to ...

Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man / House of Frankenstein18 reviews

Universal Studios, 2007

Some details and positive comments for 'House of Frankenstein'
I just wanted to drop in here and express my sincere enthusiasm for "House of Frankenstein," which is one of the two films on this DVD. Director Erle (not a typo!) C. Kenton went all out on this 1944 black-and-white film to present a Frankenstein movie which all horror fans could embrace, regardless of their preference for a particular monster. Here, we get Dracula (John Carradine), Lawrence ...

Road to Bali28 reviews
Bing Crosby, Bob Hope

Bci / Eclipse, 2000

Futuristic jokes!
Road to Bali has been very cleverly written and is not just a one liner picture. If you watch the film again there are references to childhood trauma and hypnotherapy, color TV, the 4th dimension, the physics of circumferential energy with an orbiting bullet and so much more. I don't know who wrote the script - but it is so clever and decades ahead of it's time. I love it!!!!!

Can-Can32 reviews
Frank Sinatra, Shirley MacLaine

20th Century Fox, 2007

An almost perfect package
This is a gorgeous release - color, sound, 70mm transfer - Fox really went all out on this DVD. BUT: does anyone know if they're going to fix the problem of the Entr'acte missing its last 10 seconds? Also - with all of the extras this package includes it sure would have been nice to finally hear why the "I Love Paris" duet between Sinatra and Chevalier was cut as it was definitely filmed.

Sands Of Iwo Jima / Flying Tigers (Double Feature)3 reviews
John Wayne, John Agar

Republic Pictures, 2007

A John Wayne double feature, can't beat that
This is really great, a double feature of John Wayne's World War II classics. Both of these movies are favorites of mine and have a common theme. John Wayne is the the leader trying to develop the men of his command. Flying Tigers is the hotshot fighter pilot movie. Can John Wayne tame a hotshot pilot who is out for his own glory? John Carroll is great as the flamboyant hot shot who learns ...

The Road To Rio / The Road To Bali (Double Feature) [HD DVD]4 reviews
Bing Crosby, Bob Hope

Bci / Eclipse, 2008

GREAT FILMS
Beautiful transfer of Road To Bali. The High Definition brings out the Technicolor frame beautifully. Road To Rio also looks quite nice ,not as good as the above, but pretty good. Lively soundtracks ,with great quality for Mono Movies. Highley Reccomended. Now where is the Blu-Ray edition.

Sands of Iwo Jima38 reviews
John Wayne, John Agar

Lions Gate Home Entertainment, 1998

A Realistic Portrayal of WWII Pacific Combat
Sergeant Stryker (John Wayne) must prepare his men for combat. He does! He subjects his men to rough bayonet drills and other forms of combat. Many modern war movies are sanitized of the realities of war. Not this one! There are numerous scenes of soldiers suffering and dying. There is a scene where a Jewish soldier says his last prayers in Hebrew. There is no happy ending for Sergeant Stryker ...

The Mummy - The Legacy Collection
Great set! If you enjoy the old Universal horror classics then you will enjoy this. The Mummy has excellent mood and atmosphere. The sequels are a bit dated, still great fun though.

Snow White and the Three Stooges48 reviews
Carol Heiss, Larry Fine

20th Century Fox, 2005

Not bad for a Three Stooges movie!
Stoogemania was alive and well in the early 1960's. This one proves it with Snow White and the Three Stooges. It features Carol Heiss from the 1960 winter Olympics and Three Stooges. I liked the ice skating, the music and the tale from a Three Stooges perspective. Another nice thing,it was made in COLOR!! Not bad for Stooge fans and yes the families!!

"THE SECRET INVASION" -(Color 1964)
I fully share Mr.Walter Goodseal's sentiments about this great film finally making it out of those Hollywood's possessive shelves. This great film features screen giants like Stewart Granger, Ralph Vallone, Mickey Rooney, Henry Silva, William Campbell, Spela Rozin and Enzo Fiermonte as the Italian General Quadri, to name a few of a great cast. As Fascist Italy is near collapse, this group of ...

.........GUNG-HO WAS A HIT MOVIE IN 1943.....
And I will tell you why...it showed the first offensive ground action taken against the Japanese Army...offensive action...the film/goers, both young and older rushed to see this Marine movie...you have to remember America wasn't even aware of year 1991 to the present...IT WAS 1943 and America was galvanized like an iron fist to crush the hated Japanese forces a far, far cry from how American's ...

John Wayne Collector's Pack - Rio Grande - Sands of Iwo Jima - The Quiet Man1 review
John Wayne, John Agar

Republic Pictures, 2000

THE FIGHTING IRISHMAN WHO CAN SHOOT.
The collecton of films shows John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara in two totally different styles of acting. Starting with the an American who swears off boxing after killing an opponent in The Quiet Man. To the epics of the old west where they are embroiled in a battle with the Apache Indians. In both films John wayne is locked in a war to fight to save his marrage, one using guns and one using fists. ...

Universal Pictures, 2001

"B" Movie Fun!
After the initial masterpiece of the original 1932 "A" film, "The Mummy," Universal would make a franchise of the character and it would become a "B" staple during the 1940's for people looking to escape the harsh news of the war and get lost in a fun story on a Saturday afternoon. It was also a chance to put your arm around your girl, as you knew there would be a few thrills that would give you ...

Road to Bali/My Favorite Brunette6 reviews
Bing Crosby, Bob Hope

Marengo Films, 2001

Classic Bob Hope
It is a joy to watch Bob Hope anytime. He was a great American and both of these films are really fun to watch. Road to Bali is an excellent print and My Favorite Brunette is obviously a little less so, but it is still a very nice print... probably a "B". I found both films up to par, the studio has cleaned the sound on them and for the money this DVD is a very nice bargan.
