Coupling 1-4
This is witty humor, grown up style. Funny & entertaining. Each character is well writen and interesting. Too bad the series ended only after 4 seasons, I whish they made more.

Great movie!
We loved this movie and will, no doubt, watch it more then once as it is just a feel good movie.

Lorna Doone56 reviews

A&E Home Video, 2001

one to watch and watch again
I read this book over and over as a teen but it had been perhaps twenty years since my last reading when I found this dvd in the library. Upon reflection, I think I have to agree with the reviewer who found this portrayal of Lorna unsatisfactory as her range did feel pretty limited. However, I have long since forgotten that first minor impression in the spell that the rest of the production ...

The Jacket129 reviews
Adrien Brody, Keira Knightley

Warner Home Video, 2005

A second chance to do the right thing
For me a good science fiction film deals more with human nature than it does with cool gadgetry and special effects. Take for instance 2001, Solaris (the original), La Jetee or 12 Monkeys, Gattaca, Children of Men and Blade Runner (yes, I know it has flying cars but that's besides the point), all these films were concerned with human nature either subjectively or objectively. Such is the case ...

James and the Giant Peach (Special Edition)72 reviews
Paul Terry, Joanna Lumley

Walt Disney Video, 2000

Great Innocent Fun
I saw it twice in theaters when it first came out. This is a wonderful story of courage that should be read to a child first then show them the DVD to bring their imagination alive.

Coupling - The Complete First Season122 reviews
Jack Davenport, Gina Bellman

BBC Warner, 2003

The best of BBC
This is one of the best comedy series released by BBC along with "my family" and the all time classic "fawlty towers". The characters are well developped, the acting is really good and the script is very witty. I have to say that for a comedy it doesn't get much better than this. I just bought the box of the whole series, my wife loves it as well.

Human Traffic59 reviews
Jo Brand, Richard Coyle

Miramax, 2000

The official start to your evening
All I have to say is that this film used to be a seminal part of the build up to my nights on the town. Re-discovered it again recently and still love it! It isnt a complex film but you feel part of the build up, part of the craziness and the slow comedown at the end. It even takes the odd pot shot at the drug culture that makes up the core of this film. The whole soundtrack is fantastic and ...

The Libertine138 reviews
Johnny Depp, Paul Ritter

Weinstein Company, 2006

Depp best performance
Although this movie is only for adults, it is Johnny Depp's best acting role. His performance shows his range in acting from comedy to drama. He has absorbed the person of John Wilmot and when the movie is over you feel as if you knew the man. A great work overlooked for an Oscar and one day will be a must have for all Depp collections and admirers.

Coupling - The Complete Second Season38 reviews
Jack Davenport, Gina Bellman

BBC Warner, 2003

Even funnier
Cioupling is even funnier in the second season. By now, if you have seen the first season (if not you must) you know the characters and you sympathise with them and you attempt to predict what will happen next. You actually can't as it is funnier than you think. Buy it and laugh over and over again

Happy Now2 reviews
Ioan Gruffudd, Susan Lynch

S.A.V.

A Quircky, Weird, Funny Little Treat
I stumbled upon this little film and despite my admiration for several of the actors in it, I didn't expect it to be that good because it has never had an official release in the US or UK (where it was made) but I was pleastantly surprised. If you watch it as a thriller it's not good. I think it's meant to be watched as a black comedy. The gallows humor was approprate and made me laugh quite ...

Wives and Daughters172 reviews

BBC Warner, 2001

Entertaining!
There are three DVD's in this package and I wished that the story would have never ended. I would have loved to have had more to watch! (The one DVD is of the making of the series.) The directors and screen writers did an excellant job with this movie. It was made for TV, so there are breaks in the movie but this can be useful if you want to watch it over several days. Enjoy it.

The Duchess of Duke Street - Series 124 reviews
Gemma Jones, John Cater

Acorn Media, 2005

Fifteen glorious hours
I loved this when I first saw it on Masterpiece Theater, and loved it just as much watching this DVD set. The sets, costumes, and of course the incredible food give a glimpse into the atmosphere of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. The superb acting and rich screenplay offer a corresponding glimpse into the lives of a certain class of people -- and those who serve them. Highly recommended.

The Life & Crimes of William Palmer2 reviews
Keith Allen, Jayne Ashbourne

Bfs Entertainment, 2005

TOP NOTCH ENTERTAINMENT...
Keith Allen is a decidedly gifted actor, and perfectly cast in the unnerving lead, here. Well-supported by an equally strong cast. Solid directing. Beautiful, haunting score. The only complaint is that the story ended. But after murdering all those nice loved ones, I guess it was only a matter of time. This is rich, merciless stuff, indeed.

Coupling(Complete 4th Series) [Region 2]1 review
Jack Davenport, Gina Bellman

What? Jeff is gone and we only get six episodes? This cannot be good...
If you were disappointed when you learned there were only two discs for Series Four of "Coupling," then the news that there are only episodes on the first of those two discs is going to be downright depressing. Given the results I have seen to date I appreciate the British idea of avoiding having a set number of episodes in any given series (read "season" on this side of the Pond) because that ...

Teaching Othello and Transformation? Look no further!
I loved this "Othello" and as such, I highly reccommend it, for all that's worth. Especially if you are an English teacher looking for a successful and interesting transformation of Shakespeare's Othello into a contemporary context. This masterpiece theatre 2001 production is an excellent example of what is possible. Remember to look for the related Materpiece Theatre website resources that ...

The History of Mr Polly1 review
Trevor Cooper, Lee Evans

Bfs Entertainment, 2007

Mr Polly:Nature's Gentleman
To my knowledge, this was never aired in Australia. That's a pity.I'd always liked this rather atypical HG Wells tale. There aren't any aliens from Mars or time travellers from another century. It's a simple but heartwarming tale of a man who goes to great lengths to answer that question we all seek to answer in our lives:what makes me happy? Mr Polly goes to great lengths to find out and his ending ...
