Ravenous176 reviews
Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle

20th Century Fox, 2005

You are who you eat
One of Robert Carlyle's best performances. Wildly entertaining movie involving cannibalism and survival. I nearly became a vegetarian after watching this movie.

Not a Chick Flick, But Rather a Heart & Soul Movie
There are some really excellent substantive reviews for this film, and the only thing I take issue with is the use of "chick flick." There are movies about dancing, there are movies about soul, and there are movies about soul with dancing. I found this moview to be completely engrossing, admirable in all respects, and uplifting without being a tear-jerker. A righteous way to pass a quite ...

Moving and Uplifitng
"PRIEST" Moving and Uplifting Amos Lassen and Cinema Pride "Priest" is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. Highly underrated and rarely seen, this is a classic film about the nature of intolerance and how understanding can bring people together. But be warned, you need tissues to watch this film. I remember when the movie was released it so riled the Catholic Church that ...

Human Traff Reveiw
This video depicts the issue of Human Trafficking so well. The story of each girl is so real, this is what actually happens and it's how the human trafficking chain is formed. I think for a television series they exposed just enough to make you sick and make you want to do something. They didn't make it a feel good sunshine movie, they showed the hard core truth of human trafficking and the lives ...

Hamish MacBeth: Series 1-3 Collection13 reviews
Robert Carlyle

BBC Warner, 2007

Entertaining and different
We purchased this series on a leap of faith, never having seen a single episode, but having enjoyed "Ballykissangel" and "Monarch of the Glen". "Hamish" is different though. For instance, there's usually a mystery that needs to be solved by the main character, and while often humerous and lighthearted, it takes a few darker turns than the other two series I mentioned. If you're expecting the ...

The Full Monty109 reviews
Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy

20th Century Fox, 2002

Fully exposéd
Please note that this is for the two-disc "Fully Exposed" edition: If you're reading this you're probably already a fan or at least have read other reviews telling you how great the movie is, so I won't clutter the place with more of the same. But it has to be said that after ten years of being stuck with a DVD that counts "Interactive Menus" as a special feature, I'm beside myself that ...

28 Weeks Later / 28 Days Later (2 pack)13 reviews
Catherine McCormack, Robert Carlyle

20th Century Fox, 2007

28 Days/Weeks Later series
Great series! Very scary, I wouldn't recommend watching these two alone at night like I did. I made me very happy that we are allowed to own firearms in the U.S., at least we would have a chance against "the infected" unlike the Londoners in the movie. Not recommended for small kids, extreme violence in some scenes.

Transcending Poverty in Ireland
Frank and Malachy McCourt as children were living in poverty with their parents in New York, such destitution that the family was forced to return to poverty-stricken Ireland in order to survive. They were one of the few Irish families that viewed the Statue of Liberty on their way out of the harbor instead of coming in. Their father was a good man with serious flaws. He was unable to find ...

28 Weeks Later [Blu-ray]216 reviews
Catherine McCormack, Robert Carlyle

20th Century Fox, 2007

Gruesome and horrifying...Grand Guignol on speed!
NOT for the fainthearted! Most horror movies do not live up the hype, but this one certainly does...in SPADES. Some of the scenes were so terrifying and claustrophobic (for example, the mass killing/infection-spreading scene in the civilian lockdown area(!)), I was literally yelling with fright and adrenaline-laced energy as the bloody carnage unfolded on the screen...Makes *28 Days Later* ...

The Beach242 reviews
Leonardo DiCaprio, Virginie Ledoyen

20th Century Fox, 2000

LIFE'S A BEACH AND THEN. . . well . . .
There is a genre of film we have dubbed It's-So-Hard-Being (Fill In Pampered Stars Name Here) Cinema, in which an obscenely over-paid actor goes through an existential crisis and finds his life, like, totally shallow, and so divorces himself from all those superficial trappings and returns to what's really important. Think of Anthony Hopkins in It-Stinked -- sorry, INSTINCT, Kevin Spacey in ...

Eragon (Widescreen Edition)459 reviews
Ed Speleers, Sienna Guillory

Twentieth Century-Fox Film Corporation, 2007

Lord of The Rings Light
Going into this movie, I was expecting a mediocre and boring piece of film which would fall into the cracks of movies never to return again. Instead, it's like one of those strange 80's fantasy films which didn't fit into the whole feel of the day, but holds enough charm to one day become a backwoods classic. Think "Labyrinth" and other such movies. And contrary to the opinion of so many ravingly ...

MGM (Video & DVD), 2007

Classy and Stylish
Personally, I am a big fan of Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. He is one of my favorites. This DVD is strongly recommended by me because it holds a very reasonable price tag as well as the fantastic film reproduction in DTS 5.1 which gives awesome sound quality. Do not miss out on this excellent DVD. Look out also for other James Bond series that has been digitally reproduced for the ultimate ...

A Movie I Hope 20th Century Fox Painfully Regrets Not Releasing In The US--An Enjoyable, Must See Classic
I came across the wonderful masterpiece by happenstance of "surfing" lists on Amazon. Seeing that the vast majority of the reviews were five stars and the film had Kiefer Sutherland, I decided to purchase "To End All Wars." I am so glad I did. In preparing to write this review, I read the other reviews, starting with the one star reviews, to see what had already been emphasized--both ...
