The Browning Version
Asquith's mournful, utterly absorbing ensemble drama was adapted by Terence Rattigan from his own play. Redgrave, in one of his greatest screen performances, is magnificent, communicating both the unrelenting severity and turbulent inner sadness of Crocker-Harris--who keeps a stiff upper lip about Millie's infidelities, the headmaster's disrespect for his years of service, and his own failed ...

Fun & Exciting Western. A Tribute to the Genre.
This is the type of film they don't make anymore (sadly). A good, old-fashioned, western. Jim Brown's the stalwart, Fred Williamson's the charltan you don't know how he's going to turn, and Jim Kelly's the one who's tougher than both of them. To top it off, the old pro Lee Van Cleef is along for the ride, and he'd like to see all of them dead. We also get to see seasoned vets Dana Andrews ...

More truthful than you realize
I appreciate the movie much more after realizing that the Shangri La was based on an actual monastary and not limited to the author's imagination. There are some scenes and dialogue with the High Lama that are nothing less than profoundly spiritual. A great movie; enjoy. The 1973 version is also worthy, but nearly impossible to find.

A "Must Have" for Margaret Rutherford Fans
Margaret Rutherford's "Miss Marple" films are my favorite - especially "Murder Ahoy" (Lionel Jeffries is a joy to watch in this one). My sister and I have watched these movies over and over and have never become tired of them. Our only regret is that there are only four in the series. The casting, directing, wardrobe, musical score and locations are perfect. You can buy the CD set or you can ...

Green for Great!
Top British cast - Trevor Howard, Leo Genn, the beautiful Sally Grey and the outstanding Alistair Simm. A very nice balance of soap operatic doctor shenanigans, wonderful sets, character study, police investigations, humor and on top of all this - a who-dun-it worthy of Agatha Christi. British film making at its finest. Superb picture-perfect restoration by Criterion makes Green For Danger - ...

OVER 35 YEARS, AND NEVER FORGOTTEN!!!!!!
I have read all the listed reviews, and what is clearly evident with 99% of the negative criticism, is that it seems to be entirely directed towards the violence contained in the movie. Hardly any mention of the Oscar winning stars and their performances or the dynamic cinematography that takes place throughout the film. I viewed this movie over 35 years ago and it made such an impact on me, I ...

This DVD was fun to watch. Fred Astaire does some fun dancing and Petula Clark sings her blarney stone off. Tommy Steele, steals the movie though. He is a crack up to watch. Keenan Wynn waiting for his Bromo Seltzer had me rollin.

One of the best in the Gangster Genre
Gloria remains one of director John Cassavetes most accessable films. It is also his most commercially successful, being one of 1980's biggest hits at the Box Office. Cassavates cast his wife, Gena Rowlands in the title role of a former Mafiosa Moll trying to get on with a life, in a post Mob existence. This, however, is turned upside down when she finds herself with a six year old boy whose ...

Not What I Had Hoped For
The best thing about this DVD set is the packaging. It is very attractive. It is also misleading. Echo Bridge Entertainment is just a repackaging of Platinum Disc Corporation (PDC) product. The problem with PDC is that this company inserts the company name and logo onto the bottom right hand corner of the screen periodically throughout the program. I have never been able to overlook any program ...

Don't be misguided, this is a great little film !
I have yet to play this film for any child who didn't thoroughly love it. (and most adults seem to fall for its charm as well) The most ridiculous and unfair criticism seems to be "what's a US president doing in a film with a chimp ?" Well, Ronald Reagan was an actor first...and Bedtime for Bonzo is truly one of his most endearing films. It's an utterly charming tale that makes for great family ...

A hidden british gem
The rocking horse winner is a notable adaptation from a David H. Lawrence. This movie is practically unknown by a large audience. If you watch it very carefully , you'll be rewarded, for several reasons. The middle class family who slowly suffers a status fall; has a very intuitive and smart child capable of predicting the winner horse in the race horses. This child has a close friend (John ...

Classic Sherlock Holmes
The episodes on this DVD are listed elsewhere so I will not repeat them here. I am happy with the purchase, although I wish they had remastered the episodes in digital format. It appears from the picture quality they just copied the original episodes onto a DVD, so the quality you get is that which existed when the episodes first aired. I expected this, but deducted 1 star because I believe they ...

Another great DVD from Something Weird
Two great flicks here especially if you like regional made horror films. The first if Larry Buchanan's first film Naked Witch about a college student who brings a beautiful dead witch back to life. Filmed for $8000.00 in Texas, Buchanan does his best to bring a very interesting story to life. I really enjoyed this film and it was nice to see a color print. Contains a little nudity, but nothing ...

warm British comedy
An unofficial entry in the "Carry On..." franchise, NURSE ON WHEELS (1963) is a delightful comedy which will endear itself to audiences thanks to it's strong cast and warm-hearted premise. New district nurse Joanna Jones (Juliet Mills) and her dotty mother (Esma Cannon) move to the small village of Blandley. Joanna finds herself competing with the peerless reputation of her predecessor, while ...

Heavenly Angel.......
This highly successful tv-miniseries is perhaps the one that ignited the success of the miniseries genre. Although, there are others who came before this, it was RAGE OF ANGELS who ignited the "mania." Of course, there was Richard Chamberlain starring in all those other successful miniseries based on books and him as a King of the genre but it was Jaclyn Smith's "Jennifer Parker" that gave the ...
