Beowulf & Grendel
I have seen both Beowulf productions recently released. Granted I am biased toward Gerard Butler, but I liked this production much better than the animated version. The character of Beowulf in this movie was more humble, more thoughtful, more humane. The characters were stronger and more varied.

You've woken up the demon in me
Imagine. A clam peaceful morning. A promise of a new day. A promise of love, of hope, of joy and prosperity. A promise shattered. A new dream takes over . . . Welcome to this brave new world, teaming with the hungering legions of the damned and demented. An inexplicable virus has taken over the barren husks of those who have died and has risen them as new beings - - - beings who must sate ...

An Alternate Christmas Movie
This clever child of Pulp Fiction and Rashomon is a sheer delight. If you are tired of Miracle on 34th Street and A Christmas Carol or are just looking for another Christmas film then look no further. Although not recomended for youngsters, don't let the talk of drugs and sex deter you. It is all done in a spirit of fun. You will see a lot of your favorites from TV (including the present Mrs. Tom ...

The magical, wonderful world of Avonlea!
Watching this series truly brings to mind my own childhood where I used to have many happy adventures with my friends in our small town. In this second season, young Sarah Stanley & her friends find more adventures, with the introduction of some new characters. The episodes in this season are: Sarah's Homecoming : Sarah returns to Avonlea after a family tragedy. A sad episode. How Kissing was ...

I Thought It Was Kinda Sweet....
... until the story ended, which was somewhat bitter.... Andre Noble played well as Cliff (I thought the name totally doesn't fit him). Despite his co-star Bredan Fehr is cute (I swear he was an A&F model), but I agree with another reviewer this is clearly Andre Noble's film. I do not believe the film would work without his glowing eyes and smile. It's a nice coming-of-age story. Though ...

Blu-ray does this movie justice
I am a huge fan of this movie, and this blu-ray release finally treats it with a little respect. While the audio mix seems a little odd in some scenes (the late Michael Kamen's brilliant score sometimes gets lost in all the sound effects and explosions), the movie looks better than it ever has, comparable to blu-ray releases of more recent movies. Yah, sure, all this eye-popping, hi-def clarity ...

Charming
Charming children and adults get into a variety of fun predicaments. The King family, their children, and their friends, in the town of Avonlea, in the early 1900's, on Prince Edward Island in Canada. If you liked "Little House on the Prairie" or "Anne of Green Gables"; you should like this. Seasons 1-6 are excellent. I have not seen season-7. Realistic, likeable, characters, people I ...

Pleasant.
Season-six weakens in episode consistency compared to earlier seasons. Out of 13-espisodes, 8 are pleasant, 2 break believability without the real Cecily, 2 are good, and 1 is excellent. The pleasant stories of Avonlea do continue. The episode, "A Fox Tale", where Felix and Izzy start a business, is excellent with bantering between Felicity and "that annoying boy" Nat Lester. Sarah appears in ...

Wholesome Family Show
I have been ordering the Road to Avonlea series over the past two months. I have never seen them although I loved the Anne of Green Gables series made for TV. My children and I cannot get enough of them and before I know it we have finished a season and I order another one. We sometimes have to wait for the next season to come in the mail and my children ask me every day if the next series has ...

7 was a delight!
I kept reading the reviews and was afraid to get this set, but after seeing it, I can't belive the reviews have been so negative. This has been delightful!!!! It's more like the first couple of series. It was light and cheery! I would recomend this for any who love the fun of these shows and not fuss over where Sara and Felicity are. I was saddened that they didn't resolve what happened to ...

Charming children and adults get into fun predicaments. If you liked "Little House on the Prairie" or "Anne of Green Gables"; you should like this. Seasons 1-6 are excellent. We Need More Television Like This!
Such a wholesome, wonderful and high quality production. You NEVER feel like your sacrificing the quality or acting skills in exchange for family-friendliness! It's so hard to find television that's safe for the whole family! I remember watching this when I was a kid and now my own kids can enjoy it!

Bleak in theme, but amazingly well made.
A school bus careens off a snowy road and onto a frozen lake. Within seconds, the next act will change the many lives within a frosty upstate New York community. One father will turn to an extramarital affair, one girl will position herself to obtain the sweetest form of revenge on her abusive father, and a greedy, yet somehow earnest, attorney will turn to face his own domestic demons and the ...

Compelling Claustrophobic Drama
"Sarah Polley gives a wonderfully searching performance, as a woman in a state of extreme isolation, in "The Secret Life of Words," a compellingly claustrophobic drama set mostly aboard an oil rig. This film tackles its big theme -- silence as a defense against tragedy -- with delicacy, sympathy and originality, sans sentimentality." Jonathan Holland This film grabbed me and cut to my core. ...
