Charming Misanthrope
It took me a number of years to finally catch up with "Alfie" and, boy, did I have a misconception about the film. I thought Alfie was a free-spirited dandy who loves and leaves the ladies. Little did I know that he's a self-loathing misogynist. It's a brilliant device to have Alfie address the audience. Alfie may think he's pleading his case but instead he digs a deeper hole for himself. ...

An '80s Classic.
The Karate Kid starring Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita is truly a treasure from the '80s. I love this film so much, I remember watching this movie over and over again as a little girl. Elisabeth Shue also stars, she is great in this film, I am a big fan of her work. I love the scene where Macchio's character goes to a Halloween party dressed like a shower, it's hilarious! I highly recommend this ...

Awesome Heavy Metal Horror!
This. Movie. ROCKS! Marc Price (Skippy from Family Ties) is pretty good in this, and Tony Fields does an excellent job as Sammi Curr. I especially loved the cameos by Gene Simmons (From KISS) And Ozzy Osbourne. He had the best cameo as a preacher revealing the evils of Rock 'N' Roll. I had to buy the VHS, though I knew it was also on DVD, but I hear the quality's inferior. I know the VHS quality ...

Gol-jo Win-JA!
Best 80's film ever. Yes, yes, we all know it's actually a terrible storyline and rather tacky on the whole, but that's the beauty of it! Any film with Shelley Long is worth seeing. "I choked on a chicken ball?"

Congenial Throwback to Allen's Earlier Character-Driven Farces with a Sharp Cast
Even though Tracey Ullman is a quarter-century younger than Woody Allen, her spot-on comic turn as his tacky manicurist wife makes her the filmmaker's most compatible co-star since Diane Keaton. Together, they winningly play Ray and Frenchy, a vulgar, working-class married couple who rent a restaurant space in order to rob the bank next door. The twist is that Frenchy's cookie business thrives, ...

PORTRAIT OF A WOMAN OF UNFAILING COURAGE & SPIRIT.
I loved this miniseries. Sally Field was superb as a woman who had to meet challenges from the depression to the problems of her modern day grandchildren. I have always loved Sally Field - Steel Magnolias, Flying Nun, Mrs. Doubtfire, Brothers & Sisters, etc. She exceeded expectations in the role of Bess Steed Garner in this wonderful A & E presentation. Bess Steed grew up in a wealthy ...

The Doctor
Having had health problems and dealing with a plethora of Drs, nurses and health care "professionals" and ancillary staff, it is my personal opinion that many of them have never been ill and/or in need of hospitalization. This movie should be required viewing for everyone that earns a paycheck in any aspect of health care, from Drs to housekeeping to the switchboard operator.

GRATEFUL FIND AND ON DVD!!!
I loved this movie when it was first released. It is not shown on tv or cable enough. I have been looking for it on and off. I was glad to see it on Amazon.com and for this price. What a great find and on DVD! I ordered it and received it in three days. My sister and I have watched it three times already. We loved the acting by Michael Douglas and those trying out and the music and songs are ...

Harvey Keitel rules---Toback makes sure that NYC circa 1978 is not mistaken by those who had the luxury to see what was all about NYC at that point in time...The most impotant actor during that period of NYC "movie-dom" (regardless of Woody and Martin) is Keitel. . .He's never been a product of "witness protection", while he's blown away as a pimp, or a free-base detective--Good night, rradiof

Funny, honest, appealing
This movie depicted exactly the feeling you get at that weird moment ( whgich comes all too often) in your life when things aren't working just right and you can't figure out why. It depicts breaking up with that first love of your life with honesty, and an appealing self-depricating wit. I'd reccomend it highly to anyone who wants to see something a bit off beat and intelligent.

"Sleepaway Camp II" Is The Definition Of "80's Slasher Flick"
There is no movie as hilarious, or as fun, or as excellent a sequeal as "Sleepaway Camp II - Unhappy Campers!" The deaths are just as equally amazing as the other two movies, but there are some (such as the toilet death) that just will make anybody squirm! 80's slasher movies don't usually make me squirm, but that one death really made me squirm!! If you loved the other Sleepaway Camp ...

The film that restored my faith in Australian cinema
Strip-club pusher, Jimmy (Heath Ledger), wants to get in with Sydney crime boss Pando (Bryan Brown), but when he finally gets his chance, things don't go to plan. Jimmy loses $10,000 of Pando's money and had to find a way of getting it back fast before Pando and his goons catch up with him. "Two Hands" is not just the best Australian movie I have ever seen, but it is one of the best movies ...

The Kansas song isn't the only thing missing from the ending...
Many have already noticed that the re-release of "Heroes" is missing its original soundtrack, and that Kansas' powerhouse recording, "Carry On Wayward Son" has been replaced with a generic, poorly-recorded piece of s*** ballad that sounds like it was written by John Ashcroft and produced by a hearing-impaired fifth grader. But what you may not notice is that the ending itself has been changed, ...

Gorgeous junkfood.
Alas, the whole is less than the parts. Promised Land is a beautifully filmed, well acted, heartbreaking story with an absolutely fabulous score by the always excellent James Newton Howard. Its just that the material--the story itself--isn't worthy of such gorgeous cinematography and fine performances. Storywise, its pretty much junk but what raises it up are some really (visually) beautiful ...

This Box Set Is A Must For Campers!
The Sleepaway Camp series changed the slasher genre for good. Out of all the great slasher flicks that were produced in the 80's this series really holds up, Even compared to today's slasher movies. Yes, it was inspired by "Friday the 13th" and "Halloween". But i think the original movie surprised audiences with it's infamous shock ending that they never forget and has some creative kills, the ...
