A great action packed romantic movie,Jackie Chan style!!! "Gorgeous" delivers!!!
What a great little gem of a film,I'm a huge Jackie Chan fan.and this film is quite a rare feat,A Jackie Chan romance film, but of course it has plenty of that trademark Chan action and humor, but it has lots of heart too, quite rare for an action film, but it works quite well here!!!Contains BOTH Widescreen and Full Frame versions of the film,as well as the Original Cantonese and English dubbed ...

Visual Poetry and Martial Arts Perfection for fanboys and filmsnobs, alike. . .
First off, it is important to note that this version is the shorter, American version. While some of the changes were subtle, they do take away from what I consider to be a flawless film. For instance, the translation of Huang Di in this version is 'Our Land'. And while that seems nice, the true translation is 'All Under Heaven'. Just has so much more poetry to it. If you enjoyed this film ...

One of my favorites.... ever.
Subtitles. Might keep people away. But it shouldn't phase you a bit. This is a truly excellent movie. A well crafted adult movie, that reveals so much on how love is affected by time.

The GREATEST movie I have yet to see!
Infernal Affairs has to be the greatest movie I have seen. It was brilliantly directed, wonderful storyline and such great acting by Andy Lau & Tony Leung Chiu-Wa. We need more beautiful, crime, thriller movies like Infernal Affairs instead of that cheap stuff we get from Hollywood. I will not get into the details about the movie, but I think it's a movie for those who love drama, crime, and ...

The seductive quality of restraint
There are only three romance films I will view time and time again - Casablanca, Cinema Paradiso and In the Mood for Love. To dismiss the third as simply a pointless art house film is, in my opinion, undeserved because I regard it as a prime example of cinematic art at its best and most accessible. A reviewer has termed the appreciation of this film as "cult following," and if that's the case, ...

An Elegy for Elegies
Tran Anh Hung seems to have developed some edge. Gone is the elegy to and organic and pastoral and with Cyclo we are transported to grittier space - that space where we have lost our innocence. The causeways of Ho Chi Minh City are a metaphor for that sense loss of innocence in Cyclo. From the director of The Scent of Green Papaya gone is the pastoral elegy we have grown to love. In a way it is, ...

Best romantic comedy ever
I've rated over 1700 movies. Only 49 of them got 5 stars. Chungking Express is the only romantic comedy in that group. If you don't fall in love after watching this flick, you're just creepy, and possibly a Klingon.

Wong Kar Wai's masterpiece, a milestone in art and beauty....Kidnapped and mutilated by impious DVD companies.
(5 stars for "Ashes of Time", 1 star for this or any known DVD edition. What a shame.) One of the best most awarded films and one of the most deep explorations of loneliness and sorrow, justly ranking among the best produced Honk Kong films of the 90's, this mysterious and sensual portrayal of sadness and melancholy is often mistaken for the typical swordsplay action film, dissapointing and ...

Opium, tea and customers keep the "Flowers" of Shanghai in bloom!
This will not be everyone's cup of green tea.If you are expecting CROUCHING...HIDDEN etc, go elsewhere. If you enjoy deliberate and fixated camera work that moves as slowly and intriquitely as the graceful, quiet movements of the girls of the brothels themselves, then read on, watch the film and learn! This film shows us brothel life in the upscale,British-district "Flower Houses" of 1880's ...

Bittersweet Love Story Applies to Everyone
I am a new fan of director Wong Kar-Wai movies. Happy Together is one of my favorites. When I watched the movie for the first time, I did so with no prior knowledge of the film other than it was a love story between two men. If you're over 30, you have probably lived this story. You may have been Ho Po Wing (Leslie Cheung) or you may have been Lai Yiu Fai (Tony Leung), but you have ...

Hot
Contrary to other reviewer's notions of the film, "Days of Being Wild" does have a plot. The movie is a tale of existential angst. Stephen Teo places the movie in the area of quasi gangster cum romance. In short "Days of Being Wild" is, in the tradition of "Rebel without a Cause" an `ah fei' movie - a story of lost youth. A large portion of the movie centers on dysfunctional relationships and ...

It is a great martial arts movie. The story line is a little weak but the choreography on swordsplay and martial arts is excellent. Michelle Yeoh is outstanding as always with her grace, acrobatic style and skill in martial arts. A worthwhile DVD collection if you are a martial arts fan.

"The Departed" meets "Mulholland Drive" meets "Infernal Affairs"
I don't think this is overrated one bit; a travelogue of madness, corruption, and the looming shadow of slain innocence, "INF3" is damn near perfect. Andy Lau definitely takes the cake here as the corrupt and just about totally crazy Inspector Ming, now head of Internal Affairs. The dreamlike flow of the film takes it's cues from David Lynch; and you can tell that the director was very ...
