I believe I have some insight into this whole aspect ratio controversy. For many years, filmmakers filmed movies in something called "Super 35." The final, unedited and uncropped raw footage looks something like the old Chevrolet symbol, in that each scene was framed in both widescreen AND fullscreen ratios. The widescreen crop, of course, was released to theaters, but the fullscreen crop was ...

Brillant Movie by Denzil and Oprah
This is a wonderful movie that you will love. very great and positive and teaches one to work hard and the shy is the limit and once you believes that God is the judge and the opponent doesn't exist you will win. Challenges will arise but with hard work you can reach for the skies. Excellent movie Denzil Washington.

Val Kilmer's best performance
Great music, great concert camera work, and great acting by Val Kilmer. The only real negative is the focus on Lizard King persona, and not enough real Jim. But overall worth watching w/ the volume set on high.

Women Fight - Women Win - Women Vote
This is a truly wonderful film. It exposes us to the fight that women endured to obtain the right to vote. Historically speaking it is very accurate with a little bit of Hollywood thrown in of course. The female cast is outstanding and I found myself cheering at the end even though I knew the outcome. This is must see movie for anyone interested in American history and especially the history that ...

Do you like Phil Collins?
Absolutely one of my favorite movies. A satire of the yuppie culture and life in the 80's, American Psycho is a cross between a comedy and a horror movie. There are so many cold, icy, lines that will make you laugh, but there is also the psychotic killer aspect that makes you feel guilty for even liking the movie. A real thinking movie, you will probably have to watch it twice, but you won't ...

Best Production ever made
Brideshead has just been released-I mean the new movie version which reviewer Rex Reed (who doesn't like anything) gave high marks. However, nothing can compare to the series made in the early 1980's. It's flawless. It has the distinction, in my opinion, of being the best production ever made of any story. I own the I Claudius-fabulous; enjoy at home as well the Forsyte Saga, the mesmerizing, ...

A Creepy, Thoughtful Thriller
While some movies try to thrill you with a sub-standard plot, and others try to make you think and end up getting you confused, this movie finds the perfect balance between the two. The premise is that the main character, a successful, highly-regarded doctor played by Kevin Costner, finds his mind suddenly haunted by the overwhelming urge to commit murder. After a run as the most notorious ...

Everything you'd expect from Bertolucci
Ah, NC-17. Possibly one of the dumber ratings out there. The concept is great! Tag movies, like this, that aren't made for kids but are for an adult audience, with a rating that keeps kids away. In principle this is great! In execution, it's been deeply flawed. Newspapers won't advertise films with this rating, most reviewers won't review them, and studios won't generally allow them to be ...

HOT!
Sex, nakedness & rock music - what else could you want? I thought this movie was simple - it cut through all the filler you normally find in porn movies - unnecessary dialog, weak storyline etc... it go straight to the point - this is a movie about SEX & ROCK & ROLL & they abound :) I thought the sex scenes were excellent, there was real chemistry between the leads & they looked like they ...

The best thing I know is to do exactly what you wish for a while.
Possibly my favorite romance of all time, ROMAN HOLIDAY is a heart-wrenching, charming and timeless tale of a young Princess Ann(Audrey Hepburn) who runs away and ends up in the arms of wise newspaperman Joe Bradley(Gregory Peck). Of course through a handful of events by random happenstance Joe and Ann fall in love, and their chemistry is really beautiful. "Do you have a silk nightgown ...

Lonesome Dove - huge fan!
It does not get any better than the Blu-ray version! Worth twice what I paid. This is the best example of what Blu-ray is capable of that I have seen. I watched this on a Panasonic 58" 1080p plasma, Sony PS3 and a mid-priced surround sound system. Seeing Lonesome Dove (Blu-ray) made the money I put out for this setup worth every penny!

ALL WEEPY
I thought I might go all weepy at the beauty of this film. Albert Finney, as Leo is a glorious stand-out--somehow I knew he would have on spats-- and his "come out blazing" scene is glorious. John Turturro is right on as a sniveling weasel, but Gabriel Byrne as Tom is a dream. All the way through the movie, I was wondering, is Tom planning all this, or is he ad libing as the needs of self ...

Happy Days
American Graffitti, released in 1974, takes place near Modesto California where George Lucas (the films director and co-writer) spent his high school years. One of Lucas's stated purposes in making this film was to document the practice of "cruising." For those of us that didn't grow up in that era cruising basically consists of driving around town all night looking for something to do. A ...

A Woodland Journey
"The Last of the Mohicans" is a film which combines fine cinematography, good acting, an excellent musical score, and very well filmed battle scenes. Both the modern film and the nineteenth century novel were set in the French and Indian War and have some of the same characters. However, anyone who has read the book will quickly realize that the film is very different. That said, the movie is ...
