Little Bear - Rainy Day Tales23 reviews
Kristin Fairlie, Dan Hennessey

Nickelodeon, 2005

A value buy and quality show for little ones!
This DVD Little Bear "Rainy Day Tales" contains 12 episodes - including 4 from the Rainy Day Tales, and also episodes from Summertime Tales, and Parties and Picnics. For the money, it is indeed a value buy. The language is clean, and the characters, i.e. Little Bear and friends, are truly endearing. My 3 year-old loves it. i admit i do not much care for most of the kids' shows on television these ...

Into the Wild220 reviews
Emile Hirsch, Marcia Gay Harden

Paramount, 2008

An existential odyssey
Into the Wild will not be to everyone's liking. Some people will dislike the protagonist, Christopher McCandless, and others will find the movie's pacing to be slow. Yet, I was fascinated by and even a little envious of Chris's dogged attempt to find meaning in life and his disregard for other people's expectations. Like the ascetic monks who would wander into the desert to find enlightenment, ...

Alaska: Spirit of the Wild (IMAX) [Blu-ray]25 reviews
Narrated by Charlton Heston

Razor Digital Entertainment, 2007

Nice Intro to Alaska
Alaska: Spirit of the Wild, narrated by Charleton Heston, is an interesting overview of the Alaskian wilderness. Filmed originally for IMAX, the documentary presents a brief introduction to Alaska with it's breathtaking scenery via IMAX cinematogrophy and complimentary musical score. Great entertainment for the entire family!

Brother Bear (2-Disc Special Edition)213 reviews
Joaquin Phoenix, Jeremy Suarez

Walt Disney Video, 2004

Best children's DVD!
Loved it. My family is from Alaska and I bought them all a copy, because it pulls "real" Alaskan attributes into the movie. Entertaining for adults and educational for children without them even knowing it. WOW!

Inside Man (Widescreen Edition)218 reviews
Denzel Washington, Clive Owen

Universal Studios, 2006

Very clever bank robbery
The Inside Man This is probably the cleverest bank robbery movie I've ever seen. Clive Owens plays the mastermind and part of the mastery of the crime is that right off the bat, he beats the crap out of the bank president and then asks the rest, "Who else here is smarter than me?" Needless to say, everyone immediately becomes compliant. Then he has everyone undress and put on work clothes ...

Walt Disney Video, 2006

Sweet,Sad ,Beautiful and Meaningful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2C50H8GLRT4RO Adorable baby fox, an orphan (his mother is shot) finds a home through Big Mamma Owl with a lovable old farming lady, Widow Tweed. She calls him her "toddler" and then names him Todd. Todd soon meets Copper, a cute little pup. The scenes of the two playing are delightful. "We'll be friends forever" says Todd to Copper. ...

The Bear71 reviews
Bart the Bear, Youk the Bear

Sony Pictures, 2000

Nature meets Art...
"The Bear" is hands down one of the Best "Critter Movies" ever made. It is easy to see why the Director has won Academy Awards for some of his films. Particularly exceptional is the absence of a narrator, and a miniscule (less then 5 minutes) of Human dialogue, yet the storyline is very clear. I strongly recommend watching the "Special features" before the Movie, in order to appreciate the ...

The Great Outdoors67 reviews
Dan Aykroyd, John Candy

Universal Studios, 1998

An 80s must have!
This is one of my favorite films (that is a huge list by the way). As you may have gathered already it's about a family vacation that goes downhill when another family decides to show up with no invitation to join them in their cabin. The comedy is perfectly 80s and a John Candy gem. Though some may say this is a family movie please be warned there is some minor use of "adult" language mostly ...

The Jungle Book (40th Anniversary Platinum Edition)154 reviews
Phil Harris, Sebastian Cabot

Walt Disney Video, 2007

Great film for kids and grown-ups, too
Having called a month-long time out on princess stuff, I ordered this hoping but not really believing it would replace Little Mermaid or Cinderella in my daughter's mind. But she loves it. She doesn't get to watch the whole thing often but I occasionally just cue up the songs and let her watch, sing along and dance to those. Definitely a solid choice for any home dvd collection.

The Jungle Book 2 (Special Edition)49 reviews
John Rhys-Davies, John Goodman

WALT DISNEY VIDEO, 2008

Enjoyable but not memorable
Note: The review that follows is of the Special Edition of a film first released in 2003. Comparisons with the earlier version released 41 years ago (featuring the voices of Phil Harris, Sebastian Cabot, Louis Prima, George Sanders, and Sterling Holloway among others) are inevitable and perhaps unfair. As I began to watch this sequel, I tried very hard to experience it and then judge it on its ...

Buena Vista Home Entertainment / Disney, 2005

A great movie for Toddlers
I had not see this movie in a long time... and honestly the only reason I watch this movie is because this is my 2 yr old nieces favorite movie... When they went to England they lost her only copy of the movie... so she cried and cried for her movie.. When I mad the first purchase of the movie I only bought to replace her lost one... and it was her birthday... I pulled this Heffalump Movie ...

The 13th Warrior334 reviews
Antonio Banderas, Vladimir Kulich

Walt Disney Video, 2000

it's real
This movie isn't a fantasy -- it's about real things -- courage, and living life with great intensity. When Banderas kneels in the mud to pray for the ability to "live the next five minutes well," I got goosebumps. And when the Vikings, led by Bulvi (sp), who has almost literally come back from the dead to face his ultimate foe -- and ultimately Banderas -- step out to face the enemy's last ...

Brian's Song61 reviews
James Caan, Billy Dee Williams

Sony Pictures, 2000

My God is first, my friends are second and I am third
This was the title of the marvelous book that Gayle Sawyers wrote. It is the inspiration for Brian's Song. I promise you that when Gayle Sayers(Billie Dee Williams) says, "I love Brian Piccollo, and I want you all to love him too", you too will cry. The tears are hitting me now just thinking about it.

The Little Bear Movie52 reviews

Paramount, 2003

A Little Scarier Little Bear - Fine for 4+
My daughter is a HUGE Little Bear fan, and has watched the series since she was one. I purchased the Little Bear Movie for her as a present for her third birthday, and she watched it last night for the first time after her party. She loved it, and wanted to see it again, but it was her bedtime. That being said, she said that the movie is "too scary to watch by myself." Now, she just turned ...

Midnight Run110 reviews
Charles Grodin, Robert De Niro

Universal Studios, 2003

"We got him, We got the Duke!!!"
Wow! How we LOVE this film to pieces, and I scratch my head at those who don't get it. I never saw this lovely gem back in the `80s, "But I was just a kid..." My dad took me to see "Roger Rabbit," and that was my main interest. I actually do remember seeing a theatrical TV spot for "Midnight" at the time. "These guys have 5 days to get from New York to Los Angeles..." For years; I pondered what ...

Adventures of the Gummi Bears, Vol. 1 - Seasons 1-380 reviews
Rob Paulsen, Jason Marsden

Walt Disney Video, 2006

Gummi Power lives on
This was one of our kid's favorite cartoons when they were growing up. One of the few cartoons that we didn't mind watching with them. Well done, cleaver humor dropped in for the older fans, great stories of good over evil for the younger folks. Give it a try on your kids, you will enjoy it too.

I died laughing, my wife was inspired, my friend felt bad for him... then saw more of the movie and keeled over laughing. This movie rocks

Little Bear - Feel Better Little Bear24 reviews
Kristin Fairlie, Dan Hennessey

Nickelodeon, 2003

A value buy, and a quality kids' show!
Little Bear is one those kids' shows that you don't feel guilty letting your young child watch - it has good language, endearing characters that appeal to young children, and good production values without over-loud music and garish colors giving you a headache. There are 12 episodes here - Between Friends, Pillow Hill, Little Bear's Sweet Tooth, A Flu, What Will Little Bear Wear, Hide and ...

Man's Favorite Sport?40 reviews
Rock Hudson, Paula Prentiss

Universal Studios, 2003

Man's Favorite Sport
This is a classic example of the old saying "those that can't do - teach". Rock Hudson plays Roger Willoughby a writer portrayed to be an expert at fishing that has never been in his life. When he is entered in a fishing tournament as the resident expert, he is in a pickle. Paula Prentiss plays Abigail Page the unsuspecting one that got him into the tournament. As Roger learns to follow his ...
