My Favorite Movie - Ever
The first time I saw this movie, I was stunned. I had not seen any previews and so had no expectations. I was so moved by watching it, as were my companions, that we all sat and watched the complete credits roll by before we could get up to leave the theatre. For the first time in my life, I saw a tribe of our Native American population, portrayed as compassionate and caring. This type of ...

Wicked Black Humor!!!
"30 years I haven't missed a game." says Billys mother. Buffalo has just missed a field goal on TV. "They haven't won the championships since 1966, and I missed that game 'cause that's the day I had Billy.." Billy went to prison. The movie starts with him just getting out. Why was he in prison, you may ask.. Well, Billy bet $10,000 one year that the Buffalo Bills would win the superbowl, ...

This release could be the start....,
...of NFL films releasing of full NFL game coverage of the past. If so, then these DVD releases should be popular for a lot of football fans like myself. That aside it is fitting that they chose this game to start the ball rolling (also there is a 12 game collection of the Bears during their dynamic 1985 season (the team and season that made me a fan in the first place). The game featured on ...

it puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again
Anthony Hopkins' Oscar-winning performance has made Hannibal Lecter one of the 3 most famous horror character icons born during The Age of Cinema. The other 2 of course (in no particular order) are Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates and Robert Englund as Freddie Krueger. Of course, I excluded characters invented before movies were invented, such as Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. But, Hopkins' ...

Terrific Newman Performance in Lesser Known Altman Flick
Robert Altman's expertise at framing and then exposing the three dimensions of show business, of presentation and performance, place and status, ala Nashville, Gosford Park, A Praire Home Companion, The Player, The Company and Kansas City (to name a few), gets the interesting, ironical and historical treatment here. In Paul Newman's Buffalo Bill Cody, legend of the wild west, and extraordinary ...

Bill Murry is Hunter S Thompson
I've watched and own both Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Where the Buffalo Roam and both of them are excellent movies about the amazing gonzo journalist Hunter S. Thompson. However, Bill Murry definitely did a better job at portraying a more realistic Hunter S. Thompson, rather than a more entertaining version done by Mr. Depp. Either way both of the movies are a must buy!

Way Great....
Great western, Kirk Douglas plays a ego-maniac hell bent on getting to Oregon at any cost. Widmark is in a typical role and Bob Mitchum is so laid back you'd think he was smoking his favorite herb throughout the filming.

Buffalo Soldiers
Great movie and was so when TNT did it for TV. Danny Glover was very good in this part and since I was, and am now a life memeber of the 1st Cavalry Division, I know a lot about the 9th and 10th Cav units who were the Buffalo Soldiers. I mysef served with the Delta Co. 2nd Bat 8th Cav Rgt Abn 1st Air Cavalry Div. Vietnam 68/69, so I love everything Cav, including all the John Wayne Cav movies. ...

A Wonderful Surprise
This movie was a wonderful surprise. I bought it because it stars Paul Gross, whose work I've appreciated in the Due South television series. I expected to see an ordinary boy-meets-girl romance, something cute, fluffy, and forgettable with some nice eye candy. Instead, I found a well-written, appealingly filmed, and very well-acted story that works on a number of levels. Yes, there's a love ...

A dark look at US Army life in Germany in the late 1980's
Buffalo Soldiers is the story of US Army supply clerk Ray Elwood, played by the handsome and mysterious Joaquin Phoenix. Elwood is one of those go-to-guys who can score anything you need in exchange for the right favor. He has his hands all over the supply chain, drives a sweet German sports car, and knows who to cook up a batch of heroin in spare warehouses. He's a stoic who is well-respected ...

Good Movie!
Although historically inept, the movie has a fine empathetic performance by Joel McCrae, and a surpisingly sympathetic view of Native Americans. Well made, briliant color and epic scope it is a fine addition to anyone's Western collection. Just don't believe anything in it.

GD Best in Show of the live DVD's
I "got on the bus" on the 12/31/82 show, and in my opinion, if you want to know what the fuss was all about with this band you should pick up this DVD and the "Dozin' at the Knick" CD. The stages of the Grateful Dead can best be measured by the tenure of the keyboard players, giving Brent two periods (early and late). "Late Brent" is defined as the period where he was given a chance to lead ...
