Pride & Prejudice886 reviews
Keira Knightley, Matthew Macfadyen

Universal Studios, 2006

Great Movie
I loved this movie because it showed how sometimes things might not work out how you think they will, but in the end, they do work out. Keira Knightly is absolutely gorgeous and wonderful in this movie. Matthew Macfadyen plays an interesting character with a personality that takes time to warm up to. As the movie heats up, he becomes more lovable and exciting.

Joe Jonas, Demi Lovato

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, 2008

Where's our Camp Rock?
My Daughter Loves this movie!!! She's only 5 but keeps asking when can she go to Camp Rock. It helps to that she loves Jonas Brothers too though. She's so tired of Miley now that everything is Jonas now.

"Cinderella of Kellynch Hall"
Amazon reviewers in noticeably large numbers are wholly in the right for lavishly praising this BBC version of Jane Austen's final novel. Of the spate of Austen adaptations released in the past two decades, it's arguable that this particular one is the finest. First of all, it takes striking advantage of TV's being so good a medium for the adaptation of manners novels. Pretty much void of grand ...

Becoming Jane174 reviews
Philip Culhane, Jessica Ashworth

MIRAMAX, 2008

If you love Jane Austen you'll be hooked
Stunning movie. Romantic and heart-wrenching. Beautiful scenery and acting. Anne Hathaway did a fabulous job at portraying Jane Austen. I wasn't a fan of hers before, but I was immensely impressed with her acting in this movie. The story haunts you long after you've stopped watching it. I had to see it again and again and again ... You won't be disappointed!

A good girlie movie!
Well, I bought this movie from the recommendation of others. As I live in Australia, I can't get it here so rely very much on the excellent ratings of everybody else at Amazon. Well, girls you haven't let me down. I love period movies, and this one didn't disappoint. I fell in love with the whole Hamilton family. The girl who played Edith was so convincing and showed an natural inner beauty that ...

Chariots of Fire (Two-Disc Special Edition)199 reviews
Nicholas Farrell, Nigel Havers

Warner Home Video, 2005

Chariots of Fire and Wings on Their Feet
I never saw Chariots of Fire when it was in the theater in the early 80's, but I became interested in it after I saw some of the sites where it was filmed when I was in Scotland recently. It's based on the true story of the track team of Great Britain in the 1924 Olympics in Paris. Eric Liddell has become one of my heroes -- standing for what you know is right even in the face of incredible ...

Good Will Hunting (Miramax Collector's Series)416 reviews
Robin Williams, Matt Damon

Miramax, 1998

One of the best films of the '90s
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck won an Oscar for Best Screenplay, and Robin Williams won another for Best Supporting Actor, for "Good Will Hunting," and if you watch this film, it's really not hard to see why. Damon plays Will Hunting, a gifted but troubled young man who's worked many a low-wage job and been in one too many scrapes with the Boston Police. Affleck plays his best friend, Chuck, an ...

The Simpsons Movie (Widescreen Edition)291 reviews
Dan Castellaneta

20th Century Fox, 2007

The most expected movie
I've been fan of The Simpsons since I was 10. After 19 years of watch this great animated series I could not believe that a movie was comming. I was the fist in the row waiting in the premiere first presentation in the cinema when this movie was released. Very good movie. Just what I expected from Mr. Groening. Even though it is such as long episode, it has the necessary material to provide ...

North & South351 reviews
Daniela Denby-Ashe, Richard Armitage

BBC Warner, 2005

The best!
I adore this movie for so many reasons. While I'm a huge P&P (Austen) fan, this story is undoutably more thoughtful. To have a female writer who understands business and economics in this time period (specifically the cotton industry in England's industrial revolution) and successfully intertwines this aspect with a love story that can not fail to touch you is incredible. The cinematography ...

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Widescreen Edition)488 reviews
Johnny Depp, Freddie Highmore

Warner Bros. Pictures, 2005

Fanciful and fantastic
This one captures the magic of Dahl's book perfectly. Any kid would love the imagery. The original "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" has plenty of imagination, but there are moments where it gets overly tedious. For instance, it took way too long to get into the factory itself. Then there were the unnecessary musical interludes ("Cheer Up Charly"? Puh-lease.) In this new iteration, ...

Emma (A&E, 1997)160 reviews
Kate Beckinsale, Bernard Hepton

A&E Home Video, 1999

Not The Everyman's Emma
I think, to a certain degree, comparison with Douglas McGrath's 1996 movie featuring Gwyneth Paltrow is inevitable. However, I must alert my reader to the fact that - when I praise this alternate version from Diarmuid Lawrence - I do so with the original novel in mind. This mini-series has not a movie's glamour, nor does Kate Beckinsale match Paltrow in beauty. However, with regards to Jane ...
