Executioners from Shaolin4 reviews
Chen Kuan-Tai, Lily Li

Red Sun, 2007

Great Old School Actioner
For those waiting decades (literally) to get a remastered and widescreen version of this film and with the original English dubs, this is so far the one to get. One important thing though, is the Celestial Pictures remastered version, even though only with subtitles, the picture and audio quality is much better. You will notice the difference if you have both versions and watch them side by side. ...

The Executioner1 review
Shao Wei Sun, Xiao-Lao Gian

Image Entertainment, 2006

Somewhat fun, but not very well made
Jimmy Wang Yu stars as a famous executioner who is about to make his 1000th beheading. Chin Siu Ho plays his disciple and from there it gets really weird. I think every single prson who dies in this movie comes back to life. There are a lot of special effects, sometimes fun ones. The worst part of this movie is that there are no good fight scenes and the acting is horrible. chin Siu Ho shows ...

Executioner From Shaolin9 reviews
Chen Kuan-Tai, Lily Li

Ground Zero, 2002

What style of Kung Fu is this?!
Oh man! This is one of my all-time fave Kung Fu films. I remember rushing home from my paper delivery route so that I could enjoy the brutal and mind-blasting Kung Fu action-blast that was known as "Action Kung Fu Theatre" on Buffalo 29. This was in the early eighties before uptight network executives sold every last minute of air time to infomercials and dull reality television shows. If you ...

Executioners8 reviews
Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui

Image Entertainment, 1998

Grim "un"reality of post-armageddon China
This film's prequel, The Heroic Trio, end with a triumphant mood as the sexy trifecta of Wonder Woman, Invisible Girl and Thief Catcher make good and rid China of a demon from Hell who threatened the very existance of mankind. When Executioners opens, it would seem that no one was paying attention to the evil people who lived on Earth because China (and the rest of the world by extension) is ...

The Executioner1 review
Sonny Chiba, Ryo Ikebe

Adness, 2005

Cheesy Violence+Sonny Chiba= Unbelievable Hilarity
Awesome!! The Executioner reminds me of The Street Fighter trilogy but not as violent but it was almost there and this film was actually made before The Street Fighter Trilogy so you can say this is like a precursor to The Street Fighter Trilogy. This Film is awesome a classic Sonny Chiba film. I especially like it when body parts pop out of people or are ripped out. WATCH IT!!

Love Comes to the Executioner3 reviews
Kyle Bergersen, Jonathan Tucker

Velocity / Thinkfilm, 2006

A Really Twisted Dark Comedy (In A Good Way)
I saw this at SXSW, last year and just found out it's available. Very sick and funny! Essentially, the hero just graduated from college with a degree in Classical Languages. He wants to teach high school Latin but ends up being a prison executioner in the small town where he grew up. Complicating matters, his big brother's on death row (for trying to kill him) and so is his brother's ...

The Edgar Wallace Collection: Mad Executioners/Fellowship of the Frog1 review
Edgar Wallace

Retromedia, 2008

Anticipated
As a fan of Italian Giallo cinema I came to read about the Edgar Wallace and his inspiration to said giallo movies. Having read very favourable reviews on IMDB I decided to take the plunge and give this brand new Retromedia DVD a go. First thing to mention is the print damage which is most noticeable at the beginning of the Mad Executioners, but sadly occurs throughout. I managed to forgive this ...

The Heroic Trio43 reviews
Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui

Miramax, 2002

Cheesy Fun!
Forget Batman, this is the way a super-hero movie should be done. Incredible imagery (some shots will take your breath away) prevails in a film genre that traditionally should not look as good as this does. There is also a plot (underground demon lord stealing babies to find an heir) and Anita Mui sings, too... what more could want? A warning the film is gritty violent, and contains a scene with ...
