A Different Jackie Chan movie
Jackie Chan proves he is not only an action star in this movie. I loved it, but as a true Jackie Chan fan, it would be hard not to. For the first time Jackie and Sammo show a range of emotion that American audiences have never seen before. The intense scenes between the two of them leave a Jackie fan in tears. The two things I didn't like are the fact that Jackie doesn't dub his own voice and the ...

3 masterpieces
this title should be 3 masterpieces instead!!3 short films by 3 master film makers!i will particularly stand at the last film"box"by takashi miike.what you get here is film with very little dialogues, basing the most part of its narration in the sceneries the director creates..desolate scenes with minimal use of actors, that achieve thru lyrical photography,to create at some points,a phantom of ...

Deeply moving film & superb DVD "Masterworks Edition"
MERCHANT OF FOUR SEASONS is the deeply moving tale of a German fruit-peddler searching for love and meaning in his life. Not only was this Fassbinder's first major commercial success, it is also one of his best films, and marks a crucial turning point in his career. Stylistically it both looks back to his earlier, more abstract "theatrical" films (like KATZELMACHER), and ahead to his unique ...

Japan's "Sun Tribe"
The children of post-War Japan were a "lost generation." Having not known the suffering and hardships of their parents, and cut free from the rigid social codes that had dominated Japanese life for centuries, codes now abolished by the American occupiers, this "Sun Tribe" were an aimless, decedent bunch, lacking guidance or self-direction. Their world and their parent's world were just too ...

Mr Mingo's review is way off
I think this is an excellent movie. I love to see movies were racism is addressed. I think this movie is well worth the buy. And for Mr Mingo that says "Crash" was unworthy of an Oscar. I'm sorry to say that he must live in a fantasy world or you must not be a man of color because racism is not subtle. I am a black woman who has also traveled to other countries and I must say that I experienced ...

Simple and Sweet
I bought this for our toddler, and really appreciate that it is simple and does not over-load kids with a mountain full of information they cannot possible absorb. This DVD keeps it simple, colorful, and to the point, and gives children a chance to feel successful in their learning of Mandarin. We've had a lot of fun with it!

Curses... Part 2.
Disc 2 of season one of Fruits Basket begins with an episode about teamwork. The students in Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo's class must make a rice ball stand, and they all have different ideas of how to run it. Ultimately they end up going with an idea of Yuki's, much to Kyo's annoyance. He also reveals to Tohru that he is envious of some of Yuki's personality traits, as Yuki revealed in the previous ...

Curses...Part 3.
The third DVD of the first season of Fruits basket begins with a new school year for Tohru, Yuki, and Kyo. It's been about 6 months since Tohru has lived with the Sohma's, and all is going along swimmingly. Kyo and Yuki still fight like cats and dogs (or, in this case, cats and rats), and there is an intimacy forming between Tohru with each of them. All seems to be going well, Momitchi and Haru ...

Je t'aime! Mon amour! Bon voyage!
The second volume of the "Fruits Basket" anime ended with the revelation that Hatsuharu and Momiji would soon be attending high school with the others. So it's not surprising that the high school hijinks ensue once these weird teenagers join the student body. And though there's plenty of goofiness from Yuki's fangirls and his long-estranged brother in "Fruits Baske Vol. 3 - Puddles of ...

Adult and Unusual
"The Wayward Cloud" Adult and Unusual Amos Lassen "The Wayward Cloud" (Strand Releasing) is the new film from Taipei by director Tsai Ming-liang and it is causing a bit of controversy. The Taiwanese government spent two weeks deciding whether or not to censor it and they finally decided to let it play as it was made--uncensored and uncut. It is not porn but a critique of porn with the ...

One of the best!
I absolutely LOVE this series, both the anime and the manga! It's definitely very 'cutesy', but it still manages to be relatable at the same time. I just wish the anime had gone on as long as the manga, but the ending still feels like a conclusion, so there's no real problem there.

You will feel so much that, you just want to face the charicters and cry for all of them( exept akito usually)
During the first three episodes Tohru Honda visits a friendly , yet sightly perverted, Ayame Sohma and his womens cothing store, meets the enveyous Hiro Sohma and understands why he lashes out at Tohru's friendship with Kisa Sohma, and then meets the EXTREEMLY insane yet kind and thoughtful Ristu Sohma. That is not as convinsingly moving as my review title eh? Well you didnt let me go on to ...

Barn Red
I grew up on a family farm in Michigan and I am aware of the many problems facing them today. Farm land there is slowly being sold for development. It was very encouraging to view a film that correctly addresses many of those problems along with long term solutions.
