Classy, funny, warm and important.
A terrific movie with everything one could hope for and expect. I liked this movie for it's realism. They threw thr "F" word around a bit deliberately poking fun at movies with gratuitous foul language, I found it apprpriate. Very entertaining, describing golf well and making very good suggestions about life-decisions, I love this movie and highly recommend it.

Alas !
This was a wonderful production which I remember well from my childhood. Unfortunately, it is a very old print that could not be restored. It is a ruin, a shadow of the original.. I could not watch it until the end and in fact returned it for refund.

The Bottom Line: Though Gregory Peck ends up with the wrong woman at the end, Gentleman's Agreement is a "message picture" that succeeds on almost every level, from Peck's quiet dignity to Celeste Holm's vivaciousness to Elia Kazan's direction.

Classic Film Makes It All Worthwhile
Great movie and entertaining even for the kids. Why didn't they release this sooner? I miss all of the great old classics. The seller made this easy to buy from and they sent it so quickly too!

Fahrenheit-451 specialized to Politics
Strategically "The Roots of Shallow Thinking" can be traced to the tragedy-of-the-commons, which the late Garrett Hardin ranted so elegantly about. Envy makes the world go round, so e.g. each individual male citizen is mainly concerned with buying a big house so as to win the girl, relative to his near neighbors. WHY SHOULD e.g. a male invest heavily in considering policies which benefit ...

James Last
Eagle Rock Ent, 2002
a true gentleman of music!
Just plain old fashioned beautiful! It's really magnificent how James Last plays this music with his orchestra. He was the first conductor who didn't use a stick, but just his hands. He wrote the music for each and every instrument used, played by a whole orchestra with people from over 15 nationalities. It's beautiful to hear those delicate violins, or that bundle of trumpets; everyone plays in ...

Collection does not overlap the other Best Picture collections
These are four of the eight Best Picture winners produced by Fox Film Corporation, the others being "Cavalcade", "Sound of Music", "Patton", and "The French Connection". I'll give a brief run down on my opinion of each film: Sunrise (1927) - Winner of "Best Artistic Picture" of 1927-8, this is actually NOT a best picture winner in the strict sense. That film would be "Wings". However, this is ...
An Officer and a Gentleman: I Love the 80's Edition
Original Soundtrack
Paramount, 2009
Richard Gere plays an enrollee at a Naval officers candidate school, and Debra Winger is the woman who wants him. That's pretty much it, story-wise, in this romantic drama, which is more effective in a moment-to-moment, scene-by-scene way, where the two stars and Oscar-winner Louis Gossett Jr.--as Gere's tough-as-nails drill instructor--are fun to watch. Sexy, syrupy, with occasional pitches of high drama (Gere having a near-breakdown during ...

Satisfying Entertainment
Almost everything affects people differently partly because of their life experences. Well, I was grown up around Jim Reeves' soothing voice. Uniquely, this voice is for me and happens to be for many others as well. Must I try to describe why? I could give it a try, but right now I'm kind of not wanting to, howerever this I'll say. Music as a whole is an illusion, it can ...
