Shared Solitude
This is a superb documentary for anyone who has sought the path of solitude and silence as a part of their own life. I have watched it a number of times, and never tire of it. I highly recommend it. The Rev'd Clifford E. Schane, ahc

Well done, exceptional acting, great storylines.
Monk is an obsessive compulsive savant of a detective. I love Tony Shaloub in this series. His portrayal of Monk is nothing less that Academy style. The way he pieces together minute clues makes you take a closer look at the world around you. Losing his wife Trudy sends the man over the edge and his compulsions seem to get the better of him. It is worth continuing the series because the ...

Exceptional subtitles for hearing impaired!!
Monk 4 has exceptional subtitles--clean, complete, and covering everything including most, if not all, of the extra stuff. I didn't watch the whole season straight through, so I might've forgotten some of the extras. It's pretty unusual, and very welcome, to have accessibility for the extras. Thanks, whoever's responsible!!! Monk is just too good to miss a word!
Seeking God The Way of the Monk
Janson Media, 2004
In a remote canyon in northern New Mexico, the early morning stillness is broken by voices chanting praises to the Lord. And thus begins the daily cycle in the God-centered life and search of the Benedictine monks at the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. Seeking God is a monastic tapestry. The daily life of the monks is interwoven with the seasonal changes and celebrations, and the candid words of the monks as they speak of their life, their ...

Entertaining martial arts spoof
I say "spoof" because this movie isn't to be taken seriously. It's a fun movie to watch Yun-Fat Chow; the Monk with no name, and Seann William Scott (Kar) interact. The old story of the teacher and the student of martial arts; only Kar learns his martial arts from the movies, at the movie theater in which he works. Mako makes a cameo appearance as his boss Mister Kojima, at the theater. This ...

Delves deeper into the characters' lives and families
What I liked best about the second season of this show is how it digs much deeper into the private lives, history, pain, and relationships of the main characters. We learn that Monk has a brother, Ambrose, who has not left the family home in more than 30 years because he still believes, sadly, that their father will come home someday after abandoning them. We also learn that Monk had a lonely ...

Wonderfully funny.
Monk is a delight to watch, as well as his interactions with Sharona, the Captain, and Disher. I REALLY love watching Sharona deal with Monk and his problems. Also, Monk's psychiatrist, Dr. Kroger, is a delight.

Illustrates a great training method
I have trained two dogs with their methods and owned the book since the original version, but this beautiful, well made, production really makes it easy to understand exactly what you are supposed to be doing with your dog. The dog training part is set up in easy chapters that you can replay and focus on, if necessary. It is a nice production with peaceful and beautiful landscapes and relaxing ...

A must have!
As a fan of crime solving programs, Monk provides always comes through. However, he provides a great comic relief which makes these programs truly unique. His powers of observation, his way of solving the crimes and his relationship with his friends is endearing. One more thing that I would like to mention is that among his strange behavior you will see a love for his murdered wife to be truly ...

an invaluable treasure
We Americans have so much to thank the Europeans for - appreciating the creativity of great jazz musicians in certainly one of them. So many of these great artists were sadly ignored by mainstream audiences in the US, but adored in Europe - one such spirit was Thelonious Monk, whose contributions to the genre cannot be over-emphasized. As a result of jazz being relegated to small clubs and ...

A charming view of Theravada Buddhism
I wrote the "Editorial Review" above, and I just want to reiterate how wonderful this little movie is! It's nice to know this kind of warm-hearted documentary can still get made and distributed in today's seemingly unkind world. And just to add a clarification about my official review above: For some reason it says Tricycle Magazine up there after my name, but other than being a subscriber, I ...

Interesting Insight
This is a pretty poorly produced little documentary. - I mean the quality of the film. It's subtitled in English, and they speak Chinese (which is fine for me). The information is pretty cool, and seeing how difficult it is & what all the little fellows in the dvd have to endure is just amazing. These kids are absolutely amazing. I don't know what else to say besides that. I learned a lot from ...

Thelonious Monk - Straight, No Chaser
It's hard to imagine a more fitting tribute to the late, great Monk, an innovative stylist who penned "Round Midnight" and exerted a tremendous influence on Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, and others. That's largely due to the copious rare footage of Monk, whose bizarre antics we witness on the road and in recording studios. His mumbling musings and anxious tics leave the ...

Great Info...
I maybe a bit biased due to the fact that Li Peng Zhang is my Sifu, but this is a great documentary. The information provided is accurate and presented in a manner that is captivating. If you are studying or want to study authentic Shaolin Kung Fu, this is one of the top three documentaries to watch. (The other two ar myths and Logic of shaolin Kung Fu and Secrets of the warriors power)
