Memories!!!!
I first saw this when I was in the first grade (about 15 years ago...) and it still sticks with me to this day. I loved the animation and narration and I've been searching (for what seems like forever) to find out who made it and if it's still available. Thanks, Amazon!

Favorite books come to life
I'm a special ed teacher for K-1 and my students love these videos. They add a visual depth to these classic stories. Don't forget to view the extras and you can also have the words displayed as well. I find them invaluable for illuminating literature. Most stories are no more than 7-10 minutes long and so are great for getting students involved quickly.

Great collection...
Scholastic is a fabulous company that publishes affordable editions of children's classics. I've always liked these videos, which my son and I would take out from the library when available. At $51 for 16 dvds, its affordable enough to have at home for him. There is a newer edition of this collection out now that is almost double in price bc of new, very thin, packaging. I really like that ...

Great DVD!
This DVD is fantastic! I love the tune they put to the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom story. It is a catchy tune, and my kids and I walk around singing it all day! : ) The other stories are well done as well.

Very nice dvd....
This is similar to the Scholastic Video Collection series but it's not the same. It's made by Disney. I'm sure you already know what the stories are. They are nice and slow. The scenes are very true to what the drawings in the books are like. The animation is nice. Most of the reviewers seem to have bought this for kids about 2 years old. My daughter is 4 and enjoys it. The back of ...

Another favorite Scholastic DVD
We own over 20 Scholastic Video dvd's and The Wheels on the Bus is one of our favorites. We first got it from the library and my daughter just loved it. She was so thrilled when I bought in on-line. This dvd has 6 stories. The main 4 stories are sung. The first extra story (I Want A Dog) is read, but it does have a song a couple of times in it. The last story is just read; no songs at all. ...

Terrific Video of a Wonderful Story!
Knuffle Bunny is a wonderful story to share with young children and this video enhances the story by making it even more special. Having both Trixie and her dad narrate makes the story more real. I used in with my K-2 grade library classes and both boys and girls identified with Trixie losing her bunny. They all laughed when she started bawling and her daddy tried to hide with her behind a ...

Where the Wild Things Are and Other Stories DVD
This is an excellent video for young children. The narrations for `Where the Wild Things Are' and `The Night Kitchen' are outstanding and so is the music. I will never read `Chicken Soup with Rice' again without hearing the song in my head. The short at the end with Maurice Sendak is an interesting snapshot of the author at the time it was made. About the quality of the recording: Remember ...

WONDERFUL tool for enhancing, enriching reading for tots!!
My son (just-turned-three) and I had just picked up Harry the Dirty Dog from the library when my mom purchased this video for us. It is a WONDERFUL, magical way to enhance the reading experience! The video animation is a direct copy of the book's illustrations--so it really feels like the illustrations have magically sprung to life. My son and I cuddled up in bed together with the book before ...

A classic
We had Corduroy on VHS when I was little. We used to put it on when it was raining or needed to be entertained. We watched so intently - Mum loved it because we went dead quiet from the moment it went on - listening and watching intently. Time passed, we grew up, moved out of home, got married, then the pitter patter of tiny feet. We asked Mum to pull out Corduroy to show the next generation ...

Great TV for toddlers / preschoolers
I got this as an alternative to TV programs for my 2 1/2 year old son. It's such a nice collection. Each DVD runs about an hour and has tons of stories. He loves it and this is a really good deal too for 6 DVD's. They are all from books and ranging from really funky 60's-70's animation to ones that are from stories just a few years old. It's great!

5 Stars in read-along mode, but only 3 stars in default mode
We have 4 children (from 4-8). This DVD allows for optional read/sing along, which if used, enhances each of the individual presentations immensely. All of my kids enjoy the DVD, but it's particularly great for patriotic learning occasions (as mentioned by another reviewer). The full length Aretha version of the Star Spangled Banner is alone worth the price! Remember that the read/sing-a-long ...

The Dot is Terrific
This dvd, The Dot was an attempt to encourage my 4 year old son to keep picking up the crayons, and not to compare his work to his big sister, who is 5 years old. It worked like a charm, even a dot is a beautiful work of art, and the way you choose to look at it, can make it magical. He is finding his way to paper and pens more often, thanks to The Dot.

Fun DVD
My 6 yo likes to follow along with the "Diary of a Worm" video with the book. Antole is a pleasant story and serves as an example of how not to catagorize people (although Antole is a mouse). Another winning DVD!

It's a fun movie if you like teen flicks. It takes a shallow look at teen problems and the SAT but moves along and is well acted.

Chicka Chicka
All three of my kids just loved this DVD. Of course the main title was the reason for buying it, since the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom song had been a hit that began in Kindergarten. However, a big plus was that all the other cartoons/songs on the DVD quickly became favourites as well.
