Movie review
The usual catastrophic film! Blu-ray made it more palatable, but more expensive too. If you like these films, you will like this one too. If not....(?) Personally, I don't mind any type of sci-fi flick, so I will continue to purchase them--although maybe I will not buy Blu-rays to save on costs.

Hot, Hot, Hot
Explosive. Engaging. Horrific. Packed with amazing tales and footage, this DVD has even got a true Romeo and Juliet love story in it about two volcanologists who fall in love, chase eruptions around the world and are finally killed by a volcano. Some of the blazing images will make your skin tingle in awe, in beauty, in fright, in amazement. Nature DVDs don't get any better than this!

Geology buffs won't be disappointed.
My sister and I are both fanatics about geology, particularly volcanoes and of course, "supervolcanoes." When we saw this movie we couldn't find a single scientific inaccuracy in it (compare to, for example, "10.5" which is more like science fantasy). The acting was good to excellent, the storyline interesting. I like the faux interviews in the Post-Yellowstone days as well. The only thing I ...

Outstanding Movie
This movie is outstanding. Must see for anyone that enjoys watching storm type movies. I would not recommend for younger audiences. In my opinion it would be to disturbing for younger people. I believe in global warming and if you look around and do research on it, it is real. If anything like this movie ever happens to us God bless the United States. I can also recommend Catagory 7.

In the Path of a Killer Volcano
I am a teacher of Earth and Environmental Science and have the VHS version of this fabulous documentary. It excels at highlighting the science of volcanology as well as the real world decisions that the seismologists/volcanologists from the U.S. Geologists had to deal with. It profiles a few scientists who quickly became my heroes after watching this including John Ewert, Rick Hoblitt, and Dave ...

Informative and easy to watch
I've been buying Nova documentaries so my 7-year old son can get some science in his head in addition to the complete list of Transformers and the details of their fates. This DVD does that job admirably; he watched it quite closely, and after we watched it, it was clear that he understood the material and was enthused about it. He wasn't so enthused about living in a state adjacent to ...

Natural Disaster
Howdy; I'm a Videophile and love all types of movies. A movie is for entertainment and nothing more. This mini-made for TV is based on reality, but goes beyond. I was in Seattle this last August and it did not look like in the movie. YES, it is still standing. One of the scenes that is hard to believe is the quake outside of Redding, CA. It seems like the quake has a mind of it's own ...

Actually... it's pretty good science
Contrary to what one fellow reviewer avers, the science in Supervolcano is actually pretty accurate... at least that's what the real head of the real Yellowstone Volcano Observatory says: "Scientists from USGS, Yellowstone National Park, the University of Utah and elsewhere in academia were visited by the film's producer and writer, prior to filming. They asked us countless questions during ...

Deadly Mt Nyirangongo rules Congo "Paradise"
Filmmaker Osa Johnson called Lake Kivu "Paradise" when she and husband Martin lived there during the early 1930s, but looming over the lake is dangerous Mt Nyirangongo, a huge active volcano that threatens to destroy Goma, a city of 500,000 set on a Congo lakeshore. This city, the scene of decades of armed conflict and civil unrest, was built literally on top of the volcanic system, laced with ...
