165 Eaton Place in the "Roaring Twenties"...
The fifth and final season of UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS picks up just after the First World War. It's the dawn of a new age, the Roaring Twenties. However, despite all the trevails, life continues at good old 165 Eaton Place. "On with the Dance" - Richard (David Langton) and his new wife Virginia (Hannah Gordon) start thinking about buying a house in London, when lonely James (Simon Williams) ...

the saga continues
The second season of UPSTAIRS DOWNSTAIRS continues the saga of the Bellamy family of Eaton Place; their loves, losses and everyday life. At the end of the first season, young Elizabeth Bellamy (played by Nicola Pagett) was publicly humiliated at the hands of political activist Evelin Larkin (Georgia Brown), before marrying the handsome Lawrence Kirbridge (Ian Ogilvy) in a lavish ceremony... ...

Marvelous
Wonderful stories, each episode a delight. We are savoring them. The image quality, while not 2008 standard, is more than sufficient. We are so immersed in the stories and the characters, that we don't even notice the '70's image quality. The only thing we're concerned about is that we might, at some point, reach the end.

Human side of Beethoven well-presented
This video tells the story of a young boy whose father has recently died and whose mother has now rented the upstairs of their home to an eccentric composer, Ludwig van Beethoven. The deaf composer bangs around at all hours of the day and especially night as he works on his 9th Symphony. The video presents a very human picture of the great composer, struggling with his loss of hearing. A ...

Wonderful costume drama
This series is marvellous viewing for anyone who enjoys the political books of Anthony Trollope and loves costume dramas. Set in mid Victorian England, the story is one of aristocratic Plantaganet Palliser, heir to the Duke of Omnium and Gatherum, who enters into a marriage of convenience with wealthy, beautiful and very young aristocrat, Lady Glencora McCluskey. Sara Jessica Parker is not the starring role........
They have Sara Jessica Parker on the front cover of the DVD and she only appears in the movie in five scenes very briefly. So if you are looking to buy this DVD because you are a SJP fan then think twice about it. On a lighter note it was an alright movie but the ending wasn't so hot. Cheers! PhillyGirly XoXoXo

A Thoroughly Enjoyable "Spin Off" of a Classic Series!
Fans of Upstairs Downstairs (a series which I highly HIGHLY recommend, by the way) will be familiar with Sarah (Pauline Collins), the vivacious, conniving, mischievous, tale-telling under house/parlour maid who entered the Bellamys' employ in the first episode of that series, and who, like a bad penny, managed to turn up on the Bellamys' doorstep periodically during the first two series. Thomas ...

An okay flick if you catch it on TV, but...
If you're looking for a creepy horror flick about a woman who is terrorized by a killer in her house, like the title and the cover art of this DVD suggest, look elsewhere. This made-for-TV thriller, filmed for the "Lifetime" channel and Canadian cable-TV, is a hybrid of the murder/suspense and "woman-in-jeopardy" genres, and a pretty standard one at that. It's about a woman (Tracy Nelson) whose ...

Ten Stars for the Bellamy Household
I now see why many people adore "Upstairs Downstairs," and also why it has its place among classic television. The whole show is actually a time capsule during the time of pre-WWI UK and after (up to the US stock market crash in 1929.) It is very interesting to note the various stages of changes that were happening during that time. It's like a history lesson but with more fun in it (apologies to ...
