Looks even better in Blu-ray
I have this on normal DVD format so I thought I get it in Blu-ray since I just bought a new player. I think this is a great DVD to have in your Blu-ray collection. The whole comic look to the movie is what I really enjoyed. It just looked awesome seeing all the colors in full detail.

The China Syndrome (Special Edition)48 reviews
Jane Fonda, Jack Lemmon

Sony Pictures, 2004

One of the best of the 1970's
Great film of the late 1970;s with a powerful message; Corporations with too much power abuse the rights of others- it holds so much truer today where corporations have made ordinary people into nearly slaves. Jack Lemmon gives a brilliant multi faceted performance, while Jane Fonda and Michael Douglas give equally excellent performances. Stephen Bishop's 'Somewhere In Between' opens the ...

Burt Lancaster, Susan Clark

MGM (Video & DVD), 2001

" ... AND WE HAVE LOST 5 MORE MEN ..."
"He can shoot ... and he knows when to move" (the segundo) Seeing this movie for the first time on the old TNT Western Theatre back in the early 1990s, don't know why I waited this long to enter a review. Also, I know nothing of altered or cut scenes from this movie, the Sharps rifle shoot has always been in whatever version I have viewed. Former frontier sheriff, Roberto Valdez is an ...

Zoot Suit25 reviews
Daniel Valdez, Edward James Olmos

Universal Studios, 2003

Mandatory viewing for anyone interested in Mexican America
I believe that if you are born Mexican in the US, you should receive -- along with your "Brown Club" membership packet, a complimentary copy of this film. The film is sublime and any stylistic errors that Luis Valdez MIGHT have committed would certainly be ameliorated by the penetrating and unswerving look into Mexican American psychology. This is Octavio Paz's "Labyrinth of Solitude" put to ...

La Bamba62 reviews
Lou Diamond Phillips, Esai Morales

Sony Pictures, 1999

My favorite movie of all time
La Bamba is my favorite movie of all time hands down. Of all the films I have seen not many reached me the way La Bamba did. I first saw this movie back in the summer of 96 when I was 17-years old and I fell in love with this movie and also became a big fan of Ritchie Valens. No joke I would watch this movie every single day it was on. La Bamba was a staple part of HBO's line up and even if it ...

Betrayed15 reviews
Debra Winger, Tom Berenger

MGM (Video & DVD), 2000

Stunning performances from Berenger and Winger
This is an incredibly memorable film about white supremicists that explores racism in it's most extreme form. Debra Winger is an undercover agent who infiltrates a community of seemingly innocent hard working farmers but as the film progresses the hatred and evil lurking beneath the surface becomes more and more evident. Shocking at times and realistically written and acted, this is a thought ...

Merrill's Marauders18 reviews
Claude Akins, Charlie Briggs

Warner Home Video, 2008

jeff's last film
this was a partnership between warner brothers and a filipino film company. It starred Jeff Chandler as Brig. General Frank Merrill who's whose company were top jungle fighters during WW2 in the CBI theater of operations. Other solid names in this production were some of the Warners stock company, Ty Hardin, Claude Akins, Andrew Duggan, Will Hutchins, and Peter Brown. It's a nice war film most ...

Which Way Is Up?33 reviews
Richard Pryor, Lonette McKee

Universal Studios, 2002

That negro's awesome!
The late great Richard Pryor delivers a usual awesome performance in the 1977 comedy about a troubled man regarding sex and politics. Not only that,he plays multiple roles,as substantiated by the cover photo. I remember seeing this movie when I had Wometco Home Theatre in the late 70's. Years later,I caught this movie on Comedy Central, with the profanities muted,of course. I dedicate this ...

Panorama, 2005

Let's do the time warp
The Chinese writing/Jodie Foster cover is kind of funny/weird but still, it's the same movie I saw as a kid. After reading some reviews here I find that people either love or hate this movie. I love it because it's part of my childhood. My brother and I saw it in the mid-seventies when I was around 6 and the songs stuck with us for life. He told me he often sings "So You Wanna Be a Boxer" while ...

60 Minutes - The Science of Sleep (March 16, 2008)2 reviews

CBS, 2008

Good Science
I am the medical director of an accredited sleep disorders center and saw this "60 Minutes" segment when it originally aired in early 2008. I thought it was superb and wanted a copy to use as a patient education tool. I was thrilled when an assistant at "60 Minutes" directed me to Amazon to purchase this segment on DVD. This report accurately summarizes key knowledge regarding sleep and the ...

Under Fire25 reviews
Nick Nolte, Ed Harris

MGM (Video & DVD), 2001

Under Fire
An engrossing, still timely drama about the role of the news media in covering violent political conflicts, "Fire" asks us to consider the ethics of objectivity, dramatizing the political transformation of a man who, in an act of journalistic deception, chooses to choose sides. Nolte is excellent as Price, the rugged veteran who experiences a change of heart behind rebel lines, while Cassidy, ...

Paris, Texas82 reviews
Harry Dean Stanton, Sam Berry

20th Century Fox, 2004

A Beautiful Movie
Paris, Texas is a real place. Supposedly, the main character, Travis, claims his old father once said he was conceived in Paris, Texas, some tiny dusty ghost of a town blistering in the dry heat of the Mojave somewhere in the center of Texas. Hardly the Paris we'd all first assume. We find Travis lost, depressed, mute and alone in the center of the hot summer Texan drylands. Like an egg ...
