Between the Lions Season 15 reviews
Between the Lions

Wgbh Boston, 2008

It really does help teach reading
I bought this set after purchasing the other DVD sets (The Chap with Caps and more and Hopping Hen and more). I cannot recommend this series enough. It has helped my son to read and he is obsessed with certain episodes such as, Be Pop. It is fun, educational and will not bore you, the adult when watching it. If you are a fan of the Muppets then this show will be good. This series is one ...

Dial M for Murder101 reviews
Ray Milland, Grace Kelly

Warner Home Video, 2004

A perfect murder...gone wrong!
Suspense and mystery - this Alfred Hitchcock movie has it all! Unlike some of Hitchcock's other films were he builds it up for all the action at the end of the movie, Dial M For Murder's action all takes place at the beginning of the movie. Grace Kelly was Hitchcock's favorite actress and he had already starred her in "Rear Window" earlier that year before casting her as Margot Wendice in "Dial M ...

The Band's Visit24 reviews
Ahuva Keren, Ronit Elkabetz

Sony Pictures, 2008

Invisible Politics
"The Band's Visit" Invisible Politics Amos Lassen The new Israeli film "The Band's Visit" has an interesting approach. It is a film about Arabs and Israelis without politics. Basically it is the story of an eight man Egyptian band that is stranded in an Israeli desert town overnight. The members of the band have no money and they are forced to depend upon the Israelis citizens to ...

The Golden Girls - The Complete Fifth Season70 reviews
Beatrice Arthur, Betty White

Buena Vista Home Entertainment, 2006

BLANCHE I CAN GET HERPES LISTENING TO THIS STORY!!
As a very small child I would fight with my brother every Saturday night when this came on because he never wanted to watch these four old broads. But I did! And so did most of the country! The GG's is classic eighties comedy, at its best! I love watching this show because it's sorta corny in a way but still almost nostalgic. It totally reminds me of my grannys. And, the writing, the comedy and ...

The O.C. - The Complete Third Season89 reviews
Mischa Barton, Adam Brody

Fox Network, 2006

The O.C. - The Complete Third Season
I enjoyed the third season of the O.C. It did go quite a bit heavier that the previous seasons, but most shows do. Although a lot of this show does not deal in what I would call reality, it does deal well with some real-life situations realistically. Kirsten's alcoholism, Marissa's experimentation in a same-sex realationship and the fall out from Marissa shooting Ryan's brother Trey. Spoiler ...

Pompeii - The Last Day/Colosseum - A Gladiator's Story16 reviews
Jim Carter, Emily Canfor-Dumas

BBC Warner, 2005

A Gladiator's Story a huge success
A Gladiator's Story has several great things going for it, but the strongest is its factually-based story. The cinematography captures the scenes wonderfully, without becoming a cheesy over-produced extravaganza. By incorporating simple Latin phrases in the dialog, the introductory Latin student is hooked, and the Roman life details help the viewer to identify with aspects of humanity ...

The New York Ripper9 reviews
Jack Hedley, Paolo Malco

Blue Underground, 2008

Lucio Fulci at his best!!!!
I am a fan of the Giallo films and love Dario Argento's films so I wanted to expand and see what other directors take on it. So I was recomended to check out films on Lucio Fulci and my first choice was to see THE NEW YORK RIPPER. I mean this film has what a Giallo film needs (a mysterious black gloved killer, tons of blood/kills, and loads of Female Nudity) Sounds like my time of movie!!! This ...

The Visit21 reviews
Obba Babatundé, Rae Dawn Chong

Hbo Home Video, 2001

A story for any family dealing with forgiveness
Dealing with family and forgiveness is one of the hardest and most humbling things we all, as humans, go through in life. This story shows how this one man, who is dying and is in prison, not only tortures himself because of anger, love and forgiveness, but how his family and friends support, and at times don't support his journey. If you are looking for a story with raw emotions, hard cold ...

Lightyear Video, 2008

"I got you now Mr. Potato-Head!"
This is B-Movie greatness! Adventure, rubber suits, funny one-liners, it's all here. This is a review of the OOP Image release. "The Return of Swamp Thing" is 10 times more entertaining than the first and here's a list of 10 reasons why: 10) Heather Locklear: Gentleman prefer blondes, nuff said. 9) The fight scenes are many, but varied which is cool. 8) The kids put in a great ...

Some Girls8 reviews
Florinda Bolkan, Jennifer Connelly

MGM (Video & DVD), 2008

One of the Best
I too have waited a long time for a DVD copy. I haven't bought it yet, but will do so in a few minutes. I have shown this film to many friends over the years and, interestingly, it is always the men who responded to it most positively. The women liked it, but were not wowed the way the men were. I think it speaks to the young man that each of us were. Trying to impress the girl, failing, ...

Johnny and the Sprites - Meet the Sprites2 reviews
Johnny & the Sprites

WALT DISNEY VIDEO, 2008

Finally a Johnny DVD!
My 2 and 3 year olds LOVE Johnny and the Sprites so I was happy to find that a DVD had finally been released. We drove from Colorado to Illinois loaded down with DVD's and they watched this one the WHOLE TIME (about 17 hours!!!). They didn't want any of their other DVD's. I think that says it all - it must be a 5 star DVD to hold their attention that long!!! :)

Jacknife18 reviews
Robert De Niro, Kathy Baker

Lions Gate, 2007

Ok, I'm a Kathy Baker Fan
I do admit that I'm a Kathy Baker fan so i'm sure i'll have a review soon about Picket Fences Season One. I first saw her in "Clean and Sober" with Michael Keaton, then saw this film, and then was thrilled to learn she would be in "Picket Fences." That being said, I think the most powerful perfomance in this movie was by Ed Harris - I don't know why I never made the connection, maybe I wasnt ...
