Animation is the best media to convey Star Wars saga!
I have been a fan of the Star Wars Saga since the very beginning. I have loved all the popular movie characters just like every other big fan and had no interest in seeing the cartoon (really!). I went to see the movie only because my kids wanted to see it (and they are too young to go by themselves!). Despite myself, I was really impressed. It was pretty awesome which is saying something when ...

Achieved its goals well
The documentary has achieved its goals well. It never set out to be a definitive history of WWII so trying to compare it with other documentaries such as `World at War' is not fair. Yes it is American orientated, but it clearly defines that at the start and never tries to be anything else. Looking at the various campaigns and finding the errors in the military command is a fair assessment as ...

Funny in a different way
This is not so much a laugh out loud movie as it is a smirk and giggle movie. It is thoroughly entertaining if you accept it for what it is, a parody or satire. I always like John Cusak as a hit man for some reason, Hillary Duff making fun of popstars is somehow fitting and for the first time, I found myself wanting to smack something other than her face. She really is FINE in this movie and ...

I was very happy to know that amazon had the movie in stock. The price was very reasonable. It came in the mail quickly and the shipping and handling was great. I am very happy with amazon.

Caveat #1: I love action films. Caveat #2: This is not a martial arts film. Which is fine with me--I love action films, regardless of what kind of action it is. Well, some action films. This is one. After an assassin named Rogue killed his partner and his partner's wife and child, finding Rogue is federal agent John Crawford's (Jason Statham) raison d'etre. Meanwhile, Rogue's (Jet Li) ...

Lonnie Jordan is WAR!
I have always had an affinity for that California sound featuring the likes of Sly and the Family Stone, Tower of Power and War. Of the three, War was my favorite. I've only seen one video of war in my life until this current release, and the previous video I saw of them was of the original members in a concert in Europe. However, the audio and video were terrible in that video although the ...

Grim. Absolutely grim. The real story.
When I was a kid I was taken by the tales of courage and bravery that the movies and books feed people. I read about the fighter pilots and the Commandos. War was all excitement and friends looking out for friends. Then one day the theme music of The World at War came on, the program launched straight in to archive footage of real battles, all the horror of mangled and mutilated bodies. I was ...

Good Deal
I purchased this for my husband who is always asking for War movies. This is a great buy if you love the old stuff. It covers all old war from every era and includes some big stars in grade B movies. For the price you cannot beat it. My husband has sat and watched four movies today without falling asleep once. That in itself means it's good.

A whole new look
Some don't like this - we loved it (hubby and I). We're long time Star Wars geeks, and here, they finally get the stories right, interesting concepts, some fun, some action. It's a movie that is really just a set of battles in a war, and it's exactly what it should be - that is what the Clone Wars are. But what I really love is the new animation concept - computerized, but with hand drawn ...

Ken Burns' Civil War DVDs
Any serious student of American history will find Burns' account of the Civil War fascinating and enlightening. It provides a wealth of information that to me seems definitive and encompassing. If you have an interest in the Civil War, this documentary is an absolute "must have!" Dr. Stephen C. Wallace Professor Emeritus

How an east Texas congressman made Afghanistan safe for the Taliban
BEWARE SPOILERS!! (and pompous displays of semi-relevant erudition) Director Mike Nichols is a past master of women's point of view films that go beyond the narrow confines of the "chick flick." Silkwood (1983); Heartburn (1986); Working Girl (1988); and the very fine Postcards from the Edge (1990) come to mind. His first feature was an adaptation of Edward Albee's play Who's Afraid of ...

Greek Tragedy Meets Morality Tale - George Lucas's Masterpiece
*Contains Spoilers* In my review for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace I wrote how the light and bright Phantom reflected the time in which it was released. 1999 was the dawn of the new Millennium and hope and freshness abounded during what was something of a short golden age for Western Society. If The Phantom Menace was a movie for its time, then 2005's dark and desperate Revenge of ...

Packaged Prequel: Exactly what I've been waiting for
This is exactly what I've been waiting for: a low-priced collection of the "first" three Star Wars movies for my modest DVD collection. I actually caught a deal yesterday that allowed me to buy both collections (the Trilogy and the Prequel Trilogy) for $34.99 combined, so this set will work great. The Trilogy will replace my old VHS set, and now I'll finally have the Prequel Trilogy. Yes, I ...

Another Re-hash From the Flim-Flam Man Named George Lucas
If you buy this DVD set you will get both the original Star Wars movies and their re-mastered versions. Unfortunately, you will not get the special edition versions (that version has probably been incinerated) that were Lucas' first attempt at editing his magnum opus. Also, the original versions of the film have not been cleared up in any way. I don't mind that so much because I actually like ...

Confusion Over Aspect Ratios
George Pal was the leading producer of sci-fi films of the 1950's and "The War of the Worlds" is probably his finest effort. I watched it as a new film in a local theatre in 1953 when I was 13. The scene in the abandoned farm house is still one of the best examples of building suspense in a film scene that I can recall. You could have heard a pin drop from an audience full of kids! The ...

funny
I just saw Robot Chicken's *second* Star Wars parody tonight. Forgot they did another one and just came across it and it blew my mind. Guess the first one was so successful they had to do another and it compares to the first Robot Chicken Star Wars like the second Star Wars movie compares to the first one. It's better. I'd say WAY better. So, see this first one and then be sure to watch the ...
