Oh so?" This Moto Collection is Also Excellent!
Peter Lorre is wonderful as the "action" detective of his time (the 1930s), providing an excellent counterpoint to the more analytical Charlie Chan and Sherlock Holmes. I own the complete DVD collections of Moto, Chan, and Holmes, and enjoy viewing all of these films over and over again in rotation. The Moto films are terrific - I haven't found a clunker in the bunch. Highly recommended!

This was a good One!
H5: The Revenge of Micael Myers, is said to have failed and be the worst in the series, but I can't figure out what is so bad about it. It's almost like Halloween 4, it has most of the same characters like Jamie, Rachel, Dr. Loomis, and of course Myers! This movie also had some decent killes SPOILER There is a really good death scene where a couple is having sex in a cellar of a barn, ...

Amazing Photography and Story
The photography all over the world is very beautiful, especially in the full HD quality. All the skiers' different stories are amazing and sometimes quite personal. I couldn't believe some of the stuff these guys have done. The combination of awe inspiring footage and the back stories of the skiers make this a great documentary about the nature and experience of extreme back country skiing.

Compelling arguements to consider
Today is June 12, 2008, and with oil is above $130 per barrel, we have an ideal environment to take in such a documentary as this. The scenario reminds me of a book called, "What To Do When Oil Is $200 A Barrel." Perhaps by the time you read this, it will be over $200 a barrel. For this genre, this is a well-produced documentary that combines visual interest with good academic but energizing ...

Ten Minutes is missing!
I first watched this series of one hour programs when it was on the History Channel. It so moved me that I couldn't wait to buy it when it came out on DVD. But, upon viewing the American DVD I noticed a few mminutes was missing from the show I saw on History Channel. Particularly, about ten minutes dealing with a group of children being locked into a school building, and the building set ...

Good, but the film version released in America is better
I do enjoy Patricia Rutledge, from ages of watching her perform in BBC Keeping Up Appearances as a social climbing civil servants wife. Her skill as a singing actress is every bit as delightful as her portrayal of Hyacinth in that series. As a staged version this is excellent. However, I do remember the film version which was released with Angela Lansbury playing the part of the nurse. ...

disturbingly provacative
This movie is a great thrill ride.It kept me totally intuned, very provacative.A look into the depravity of mankind. The level of humiliation the victims must indure is disturbing. I loved the spin on this movie. An excellent addition to my collection.

Laugh and Think
If you are a smoker watch the film and think, If you are a non-smoker watch the film and feel as happy as you can and laugh If your child is a teenager let her watch the film, nothing that the adults tell is enough to give this impression about smoking. I think this may be a popular film that is watched at school hours. The terrible results of smoking and how they have been hidden for ...

Ok but not great 70's Thriller
I actually saw this movie at the theater in 1976. I thought it was an OK movie. It's about a lone sniper perched up in a tower shooting at anyone and everyone at a football game with 91,000 spectatators. Until now I never got to see the original again except for the edited and new scenes added, TV version because the original was not available for sale or rent. The scenes where some of the SWAT ...

Rough, smart thriller, available at last!
Deft combination of murder thriller and police procedural is presented via a pristine, shimmering b&w print highlighting solid work by the creepily appealing young character actor Adam Williams (where are you now, Adam?)as an unflamboyant but remorseless killer of blondes, and Meg Randall, as the focal female who eventually finds herself in dire straits. Nice turns, too, by the understated Ed ...

WARNING - DO NOT EXPECT A LOT OF SPECIAL EFFECTS !
I don't know I could be wrong, but it seems to me that movies made today require a ton of special effects ( especially in the Sci Fi - Fantasy genre ) to keep an audience interested. Nothing wrong with this though, as I myself enoy a little escapist entertainment as much as the next person. Having said that though I must confess that it is my opinion that good writing and acting will win out over ...

If this doesn't get your attention, nothing will...
Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" got all the hype and awards. The History Channel's "A Global Warning?" only gets the Joe Friday award - "Just the facts, ma'am, just the facts." If you want to understand why global warming is real and why we need to address the issue now, this is your documentary. It is substance, substance, substance. No grandstanding, no histrionics, no tear-jerking ...
