Peaceful Warrior (Widescreen)125 reviews
Scott Mechlowicz, Amy Smart

Universal Studios, 2007

Spiritual Entertainment
I found this movie to have a simple, yet profound message, done in a most entertaining way. It's a film to be watched several times. On first watch, it may seem like a predictable story but the messages become more thought-provoking the second and third time around. That's why it's in my library.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee49 reviews
Aidan Quinn, Adam Beach

Hbo Home Video, 2007

Painful watch.
This well made docu-drama was painful watch as the saga reveals stages of one of the most hideous dealings with a proud culture in American history. After the battle at Little Big Horn where Custer makes a touchy situation far worse, treaty after treaty is broken and a young Sioux doctor is forced to bear witness to the unfair treatment and tragedies experienced by his people. Great performances ...

The Mummy Returns [Blu-ray]741 reviews
Alun Armstrong, Brendan Fraser

Universal Studios, 2008

Kudos to the Army of Annubis
All the effects and vistas look absolutely vivid and stunning. I was really impressed with how the film appeared in this format. I've owned this movie in regular DVD and the difference is like night and day. Every grain of sand as well as all the detail present in the Scorpion King, the wall of water, and of course the Army of Annubis were all realistic (looking)...and who could argue seeing ...

Apocalypto [Blu-ray]502 reviews
Rudy Youngblood, Dalia Hernández

Touchstone Home Entertainment, 2007

JUST AWESOME!!!
I hadn't heard of this movie until I saw it on cable and I have to say that Mel did a excellent job with this movie about the fall of the Mayan Civilization. The actors were so fabulous that I thought he may have taken a clip from a live tribe. The action, top notch. I'd recommend to anybody looking for an action packed adventure.

This DVD delivers!
I am pleased to find this comprehensive DVD with the new Matrix option. It takes us through a thorough warm-up, spinal exercises and all, and goes into cardio and cleansing, with meditations and mantra. There are some difficult moves, but with modifications it is doable. The matrix option is great! Just select which parts you want to do, in order, and it plays it through as ordered. ...

The forgotten epic
It is exciting to find this available for US distribution as it was previously only found in other region code DVD offerings, you had to have a non-region player to see it. The photography is grand and the score works. The opening and closing titles are wonderful bookends and the scenes in the King's kraal are magnificent. There are scenes missing from the original release so this is not a ...

Beowulf (Unrated Director's Cut)229 reviews
Robin Wright Penn, Ray Winstone

Paramount, 2008

An Epic Adventure
Shadow Watcher Nobody Drowns in Mineral Lake In ANNIE HALL, Woody Allen advises Diane Keaton not to take any college courses where she has to read BEOWULF. I know whereof he speaks, because I had to read it in one of my English classes and it was boring. That's certainly not the case with this digitally enhanced live-action movie that takes the legendary tale set in ancient Denmark ...

Very accessible with a broad appeal, deeply influential in bringing asian style to western films. . .. . .
Now, I know a lot of people don't love this movie. But hear me out before you disagree. I acknowledge that this film was made with a western audience in mind. That means that as a typical wuxia film it is watered-down by comparison. It was also apparent that they tried to do a lot with the script, probably too much, so as to please the arthouse crowd. Because of those things I can't review it ...

The 13th Warrior334 reviews
Antonio Banderas, Vladimir Kulich

Walt Disney Video, 2000

it's real
This movie isn't a fantasy -- it's about real things -- courage, and living life with great intensity. When Banderas kneels in the mud to pray for the ability to "live the next five minutes well," I got goosebumps. And when the Vikings, led by Bulvi (sp), who has almost literally come back from the dead to face his ultimate foe -- and ultimately Banderas -- step out to face the enemy's last ...

Best MA movie ever !
Easily the best martial arts movie ever made. Great muy thai. I train in the art, and the movie is like watching an instructional video on thai boxing. It has everything and more that you would ever need in a MA movie. Best ever.

Soldier167 reviews
Kurt Russell, Jason Isaacs

Warner Home Video, 1999

Soldier
Few actors could accomplish what Kurt Russell does with this character. He manages to convey so much without uttering more than a dozen lines. Some are one word lines at that. He turns a cold-blooded killer into a flawed and likeable hero. This movie show cases true talent.

Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust377 reviews

Urban Vision, 2002

Really got to know D, here...
Though brilliant and original in it's art, the first Vampire Hunter D was over, and I was still waiting for it to begin, rather. But in this movie there was some character development lacking in the first. It was not bloody at all, to my mind, and I go to exteme lengths to avoid stepping on an ant. The only fault was perhaps that the romantic vampire lover subplot was kind of sappy and ...

Beautiful!! Perfect Film! best movie Ive seen this year so far!
A few years ago I saw Nightwatch in theathers accidentally and left feeling confused and not really liking it, but days later still had that movie on my mind. I soon realized why I didnt like it-at first. These movies are probably the most original movies since the early 1980s when Bladerunner, Aliens, Star Wars, etc...popularized the new genre combination of action sci-fi horror. Unlike those ...

Ninja Scroll421 reviews
Maureen O'Connell (III), Jimmy Theodore

Manga Video, 1998

Superb anime!.
Ninja Scroll was quite an impressive anime/manga film, I think its one of the best animes I've ever seen and I'll be honest I haven't seen that much other than Vampire Hunter D and Ghost In The Shell among others. The film was set in Feudal Japan and the story involves a lone ninja warrior called Jubie traveling from town to town with a hidden past and there seems to be a plague spreading through ...
